Speedy Copying and Quick First Copy Time
The AR-M160 has a quick first copy time of 7.2 seconds
to save valuable time when per-
forming multiple short-run jobs.
And with a continuous
copy rate of 16 cpm (A4 size),
you can do more copy jobs in
less time.
Scan Once/Print Many and Electronic Sorting
The AR-M160 comes standard with a Scan Once/Print
Many function that stores a scanned original into
memory to quickly produce up to 999 copies of each
page. The optional AR-EB7 Dual Function Board gives
the AR-M160 an Electronic Sorting function, which saves
up to 100 A4-size originals* into memory and then auto-
matically collates
multiple sets of
copies in page order
without the
aid of a sorter. It
also stacks each set
slightly shifted apart
from the previous
(offset stacking) for
easy retrieval. All
this adds up to
speedy copying that
boosts productivity
even for large-vol-
ume documents.

Versatile Editing Functions
The AR-M160 is standard equipped with Dual Page
Copy Mode and XY Zoom. Additional image editing func-
tions are available with the optional AR-EB7 upgrade.

Automatic Document Feeding
For even further copying productivity, the AR-M160 can
be equipped with the optional AR-SP6 Single Pass
Feeder. It eliminates the tedious task of placing pages by
hand and allows you to
automatically make one set
of a copy from a stack of
up to 40 originals. With the

Large Paper Capacity

Superb Image Quality
High performance with 600 dpi resolution and 256-level
greyscale ensures finely detailed reproduction. Digital
Auto Exposure Control provides optimum copy contrast,
and Text/Photo mode automatically distinguishes
between photos and text in the document and adjusts the
copy contrast for the best results.

Efficient Direct PDF/TIFF Printing*
The AR-M160 allows you to select PDF or TIFF files from a
Web browser screen and send them directly to the
AR-M160 without having to open applications or use printer
drivers. This function makes printing faster and simpler.
*Direct PDF printing requires optional AR-PK1N.
Network Utility Software
Sharp’s original Printer
Administration Utility software
makes printer networks easier
to manage by allowing network
administrators to customise moni-
tored items and view
settings such as the IP address directly from their PC.
IP/MAC Filtering for Security
The AR-NB2 enables highly secure network printing and
scanning by controlling access. Only PCs that have either
or both their IP address or MAC (media access control)
address registered can use the AR-M160. An unknown IP
or MAC address will be denied access, thus preventing
unauthorised use.
Powerful Network Printing
The AR-M160 supports popular network protocols
including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and IPP. The optional AR-NB2
Network Printing/Scanning Expansion Kit allows easy print-
er sharing through your office network. The AR-NB2 also
gives you HP PCL 5e/6 printer language emulations.
Adding the optional AR-EB7 gives you faster printing.
For compatibility with more fonts and better graphics
handling, PostScript 3 emulation is available with the
optional AR-PK1N PS3 Expansion Kit.
Speedy Printing with Sharp Technology
The AR-EB7 Dual Function Board gives the AR-M160
Sharp Printer Language with Compression (SPLC) printing
capability. SPLC effectively reduces the data size of print
jobs, speeding up the printing process while improving
overall throughput. The AR-EB7 also provides RIP
Once/Print Many (ROPM) memory for efficient processing,
quickly freeing up your PC for other tasks and reducing net-
work congestion. Documents are output at a quick rate
of 16 ppm in 600 dpi resolution.

The AR-M160
ensures your docu-
ments will stay neat-
ly organised even
when others are
sharing the
machine. To make
it easier to locate
and retrieve your documents from the tray, the AR-M160’s
Job Offset function stacks each print job slightly shifted
apart from one another.
Smart Sharing
The AR-M160’s Smart Sharing function
allows you to connect multiple computers
directly to the machine without having to go
through a network. This is great news for
small workgroups that need to share the
unit with only a few PCs and don’t have a
LAN set up in their office. One USB 1.1
port and one IEEE 1284 port are provided
as standard, and a USB 2.0 interface can
be added with the optional AR-EB7 Dual
Function Board for a total of three PC connections.
Standard 600 dpi Host-Based Printing
The AR-M160 supports host-
based printing, enabling it to
print out documents at up to 12
ppm from PCs running popular
Windows®operating systems.
And with Fit-to-Page, N-up print-
ing, Watermarks and other fea-
tures you would expect to find
only on higher-end multifunction
products, the AR-M160 can save time and paper and give
your documents a professional look.

images directly into Sharpdesk™by selecting the one-
touch Scan to Desktop keys on the AR-M160’s
operation panel. Or you can drag-and-drop existing
files on your PC into Sharpdesk™. Organise, annotate,
edit and combine files of over 200 types right on your
PC desktop with Sharpdesk™, before you print, e-mail,
fax or archive them.

The optional AR-NB2 Network Printing/Scanning Expansion
Kit and AR-EB7 Dual Function Board turn the AR-M160 into
a convenient full-colour network scanner. As easy as making
a copy, you can send scanned images anywhere over the
network. Scanned files can be forwarded directly to your
PC*1(scan to desktop), sent as an attachment to any e-mail
address over the Internet (scan to e-mail) or stored on a file
server where they can be easily accessed from any PC on
the network (scan to FTP server).
Sharpdesk™LT for the Networked Office
The AR-NB2 includes Sharpdesk™LT*2, which provides pow-
erful document management features and allows you to easi-
ly streamline workflow by sharing information among people
in your office network.
A3 Full-Colour Scanning
With full-colour scanning using a TWAIN-compliant driv-
er, the AR-M160 lets you easily scan documents in 600
x 1,200 dpi resolution and use them to create vivid,
impressive colour documents or presentation materials.
And because it scans up to A3 size, the
AR-M160 can scan a wider range of large documents
such as open books
and magazines, thus
saving the cost of an
expensive A3 colour
scanner. The 40-
sheet SPF gives effi-
cient multi-page doc-
ument scanning.
Convenient 3D Scanning
In addition to scanning paper-based documents, the
AR-M160 can scan 3D objects* in full colour using its
high-quality colour CCD with wide depth of field. This
allows you to scan things such as electronic parts, fab-
rics and other
objects, a feature
that means more
creative possibilities
and more ways to
communicate accu-
rately and effective-
ly.

Button Manager
The AR-M160’s convenient Button Manager lets you
scan documents and objects directly into applications
on your PC. Up to six pre-registered applications are
available, including Sharpdesk™, e-mail, Microsoft®
Word*, OCR*and PC-fax. Operation is quick and
easy —simply press the Scan button and select an
application from the Button Manager keys.
