the maximum benefit from the product.
Before installing this product, be sure to read the installation
requirements and cautions sections of the "Operation manual for
printer operation and general information".
Be sure to keep all operation manuals handy for reference
including this manual, the "Operation manual for printer
operation and general information" and operation manuals for
any optional equipment which has been installed.

In some areas, the "POWER" switch positions are marked "I" and " " on the copier
instead of "ON" and "OFF".
The symbol " " denotes the copier is not completely de-energized but in a stand-by
condition at this "POWER" switch position.
If your copier is so marked, please read "I" for "ON" and " " for "OFF".
Caution!
For a complete electrical disconnection, pull out the main plug.
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily
accessible.
The CE mark logo label is affixed on an equipment in case that the directives described in the above
sentence are applicable to the product. (This sentence is not applicable in any country where the
above directives are not required.)
Note:
When this equipment is equipped with a multi-function controller board which allows the
equipment to include copier, facsimile, and network scanning capabilities, the following
text will be applied.

PLEASE READTHIS LICENSE CAREFULLY BEFORE USINGTHE SOFTWARE.BY USINGTHE SOFTWARE,YOU
ARE AGREEINGTO BE BOUND BYTHETERMS OFTHIS LICENSE.
1. License. The application, demonstration, system and other software accompanying this License, whether on
disk, in read only memory, or on any other media (the “Software”) and related documentation are licensed to you by
SHARP. You own the disk on which the Software is recorded but SHARP and/or SHARP’S Licensors retain title to the
Softwareand relateddocumentation.This Licenseallowsyoutousethe Softwareonone ormorecomputers connected
to a single printer and make one copy of the Software in machine-readable form for backup purposes only. You must
reproduce on such copy the SHARP copyright notice, the copyright notice of SHARP’S Licensors and any other
proprietary legendsofSHARPand/orits Licensorsthatwereon the original copyofthe Software.You mayalso transfer
all your license rights in the software, the backup copy of the Software, the related documentation and a copy of this
License to another party, provided the other party reads and agrees to the terms and conditions of this License.
2. Restrictions. The Software contains copyrighted material, trade secrets and other proprietary material which is
ownedbySHARPand/orits Licensorsandinorderto protectthemyoumaynotdecompile,reverse engineer,disassemble
orotherwise reducetheSoftwareto ahuman-perceivable form.Youmaynot modify, network,rent,lease,loan, distribute
or create derivative works based upon the Software in whole or in part. You may not electronically transmit the
Softwarefrom one computer to anotheror over a network.
3. Termination. This license is effective until terminated. You may terminate this License at any time by destroying
theSoftwareand related documentationand all copies thereof. ThisLicense will terminateimmediately without notice
fromSHARP and/or SHARP’SLicensors if you failto comply withany provision of thisLicense. Upon termination you
must destroy the Software and related documentation and all copies thereof.
4. Export Law Assurances. You agree and certify that neither the Software nor any other technical data received
from SHARP, nor the direct product thereof, will be exported outside the United States except as authorized and as
permittedby the laws andregulations of the United States.If the Software has beenrightfully obtained by yououtside
of the United States, you agree that you will not re-export the Software nor any other technical data received from
SHARP, nor the direct product thereof, except as permitted by the laws and regulations of the United states and the
laws and the regulation of the jurisdiction in which you obtained the Software.
5. Government End Users. If you are acquiring the Software on behalf of any unit or agency of the United States
Government, the following provisions apply. The Government agrees:
(i) iftheSoftwareis suppliedto theDepartmentofDefense(DoD),the Softwareis classifiedas“CommercialComputer
Software” and the Government is acquiring only “restricted rights” in the Software and its documentation as that
term is defined inClause 252.227-7013 (c)(1) of theDFARS;and
(ii) if theSoftwareis suppliedto anyunit or agencyof theUnited StatesGovernmentotherthan DoD,the Government's
rightsin the Softwareandits documentation willbe as definedin Clause 52.227-19(c)(2) of theFAR or, inthe case
of NASA, in Clause 18-52.227-86 (d) of the NASA Supplement to the FAR.
6. Limited Warranty on Media. SHARP warrants the disks on which the Software is recorded to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase as
evidenced by a copy of the receipt. The entire liability of SHARP and/or its Licensors and your exclusive remedy will
be replacement of the disk which fails to meet the limited warranty provided by this Clause 6. A disk will be replaced
when it is returned to SHARP or a SHARP authorized representative with a copy of the receipt. SHARP will have no
responsibility to replace a disk damaged by accident, abuse or misapplication.
ANY IMPLIEDWARRANTIES ONTHE DISKS, INCLUDINGTHE IMPLIEDWARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY
AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO NINETY (90) DAYS FROMTHE
DATE OF DELIVERY. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
OTHERRIGHTSWHICHVARYFROMJURISDICTIONTOJURISDICTION.

solerisk. The softwareand relateddocumentation are provided“AS IS”and without warrantyofany kind and SHARP
andSHARP’SLicensor(s) (forthe purposeof provisions7 and8, SHARPandSHARP'S Licensor(s)shall becollectively
referred to as “SHARP”) EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT
NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR

8. Limitation of Liability. UNDERNOCIRCUMSTANCES INCLUDINGNEGLIGENCE, SHALLSHARP BELIABLE
FORANYINCIDENTAL,SPECIAL ORCONSEQUENTIALDAMAGESTHATRESULTFROMTHE USEOR INABILITY
TO USE THE SOFTWARE OR RELATED DOCUMENTATION, EVEN IF SHARP OR A SHARP AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS
DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES SOTHE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLYTOYOU.
In no event shall SHARP’S total liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action (whether in contract, tort
(includingnegligence) or otherwise) exceedthe amount paid by youfor the Software.
9. Controlling Law and Severability. For a portion of the Software related with Apple Macintosh and Microsoft
Windows, this license shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of California and
Washington, respectively. If for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds any provision of this License, or
portion thereof,to be unenforceable,that provisionof theLicense shallbe enforcedto the maximumextentpermissible
so as to effect the intent of the parties, and the remainder of this License shall continue in full force and effect.
10. Complete Agreement. This Licenseconstitutes theentire agreementbetweenthe parties with respectto theuse
oftheSoftwareandrelateddocumentation, andsupersedesallprioror contemporaneousunderstandingsoragreements,
written or oral, regarding such subject matter. No amendment to or modification of this License will be binding unless
in writing and signed by a duly authorized representative of SHARP.

move a module away from

If the machine is not
equipped with a duplex
module, open the side
cover similarly.

out the drum/toner cartridge and remove it.

Removeanew drum/toner cartridgefrom its bag
andremovethe protective materialA.

Shake the new cartridge horizontally five or six
times.
ADDING TONER
Whenthe drum/tonercartridge becomesempty oftoner,amessage indicating
theneedto replacethedrum/tonercartridgewill appearon thedisplay.Replace
thedrum/tonercartridgefollowingthe procedure below.
The machine as shipped does not have a cartridge installed. Follow steps 5
and 6 below for installing the first cartridge.
NOTE
●The drum/toner cartridge contains toner and a photoconductive drum.The photoconductor on the drum can deteriorate
by exposure to light for an extended period of time.
●Do not remove the cartridge from its protective package until it is to be installed into the machine.

Insert the new drum/toner cartridge.
Push the cartridge in until it
locks securely into place.

Gently remove the sealing tape from the
cartridge.

Remove the drum protective sheet from the
drum/toner cartridge.
Photoconductive drum
Donottouchor damage the
surface of the
photoconductive drum.

Close the duplex module.
If the machine is not
equipped with a duplex
module, close the side
cover.

Returnthecartridge lock lever
and close the front
cover.
NOTE
Do not shake the drum/toner cartridge after the sealing tape has been removed. If the cartridge is shaken after the tape
is removed, some toner will come out of the cartridge.

DEVELOPER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Whenreplacement of thedevelopercartridge isneeded, a messageindicating the need toreplace it will appearin the
display.Follow the procedure below to replace the developer cartridge.
The machine as shipped from the factory does not have a cartridge installed. Follow the same procedure below to
install the first cartridge but omit step 3.

Open the front cover.

Lower the cartridge lock lever.

Remove the developer cartridge.
Push the lock release
button and pull out the
developer cartridge until
it stops.
Push the lock button at
the rear side and remove
the developer cartridge.

Remove a new developer cartridge from the bag
and remove protective materials A and B.

Remove the tape and
protective material A.

Remove the tape and
protective material B.

Shake the new developer cartridge horizontally 5
or 6 times.

Insert the new developer cartridge.

Push the cartridge in until it locks securely into
place.

Gently remove the sealing tape from the
cartridge.

Return the cartridge lock lever.

Close the front cover.
The machine will become
ready after about two
minutes.
NOTE
Do not shake the developer cartridge after the sealing tape has been removed. If the cartridge is shaken after the tape is
removed, some developer will come out of the cartridge.

Be sure to use the supply cartridges specified by SHARP.
Forstorage of supplies, seepage 1-25 of theoperation manual for printeroperation and general information.
CAUTION
●If a cartridge is to be discarded, dispose of it according to local requirements.
●Storedrum/toner cartridges anddeveloper cartridges out of the reachof children.
NOTE
For recycling of used drum/toner cartridges and developer cartridges, see the information included with the
cartridges.

MAINS PLUG WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Themainsleadofthisequipmentisalreadyfittedwithamains plugwhichiseitheranon-rewireable
(moulded)orarewireable type. Should the fuseneedtobe replaced, a BSI orASTAapproved fuse
to BS1362 marked or and of the same rating as the one removed from the plug must
be used.
Alwaysrefitthefuse cover after replacing thefuseonthe moulded plug. Never usetheplug without
the fuse cover fitted.
In the unlikely event of the socket outlet in your home not being compatible with the plug supplied
eithercut-offthe moulded plug (ifthistype is fitted) orremoveby undoing the screwsifa rewireable
plug is fitted and fit an appropriate type observing the wiring code below.
DANGER: The fuse should be removed from the cut-off plug and the plug destroyed immediately
and disposed of in a safe manner. Under no circumstances should the cut-off plug be inserted
elsewhere into a 13A socket outlet as a serious electric shock may occur.
To fit an appropriate plug to the mains lead, follow the instructions below:
IMPORTANT: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
GREEN-AND-YELLOW: Earth
BLUE: Neutral
BROWN: Live
As the colours of the wires in this mains lead may not correspond with coloured markings
identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured GREEN-AND YELLOW must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter E, or by the safety earth symbol Å@, or coloured green or green-
and-yellow.
Thewirewhich is coloured BLUEmustbeconnected to the terminalwhichis marked with the letter
Nor coloured black.
The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter Lor coloured red.
If you have any doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
WARNING: THIS APPARATUS MUST BE EARTHED.
