•Consult with your physician before starting any exercise program.
•Do not allow children to play on or around the Stair Climber.
•Inspect the Stair Climber before exercising to ensure that all nuts
and bolts are fully tightened.
•Always wear rubber-soled shoes when using the Stair Climber.
•Do not position the Stair Climber on loose rugs or uneven surfaces.
•The weight limit for this unit is 200 lbs.
•The Stair Climber should not be used by people in poor health
or those suffering from injuries.
•The hydraulic cylinders are designed to be used continuously
for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the cylinders must cool off
for 15 minutes before the unit is used again.
•The hydraulic cylinders can overheat after using the unit for a
long period of time. Do not touch the cylinder shafts until they
have completely cooled off.
•Do not jump on the unit while stepping.
•When first using the Stair Climber, beginners and older people
should steady themselves by holding on to a secure stationary
object.
Warnings

•Read and follow the safety instructions before using the Stair
Climber. Failure to read and follow any instruction in this man-
ual can result in bodily injury.
•Keep this manual in a convenient place and make sure that
everyone who uses the Stair Climber with Heart-Rate Monitor
also reads it.
•Before using the Stair Climber, make sure it has been properly
assembled and tightened based on the assembly instructions.
•If at any time you feel faint, lightheaded or dizzy, stop exercis-
ing immediately. You should also stop exercising if you experi-
ence any pain or pressure. Please consult your physician before
beginning your program.
•Inspect the Stair Climber prior to exercising to ensure that all
nuts and bolts are fully tightened.
•Use the Stair Climber on a flat, level surface.
•Exercise equipment has moving parts. Please keep children and
pets away from equipment, whether it is in use or not.
•Follow the recommendations given by your doctor and fitness
professional in developing a training program. Know your
strength and flexibility levels and train within them.
Safety Instructions

•Start and finish slowly. Before each workout, warm up for five
minutes. After each workout, cool down for five minutes.
•Hold on to the main frame when stepping on and off the
Stair Climber.
•Wear proper clothing and footwear during exercise. Choose
loose-fitting workout gear that allows free movement such as
jogging suits, shorts, etc.
•Avoid serious injury. Never place any part of your body
between or near any moving parts.
•Do not operate this or any other exercise equipment if it is
damaged.

Step 1
•Attach the Rear Base (26) to the Main Base (1) with Bolt (38),
Washer (46) and Nut (41). (See Figure A.)
•Remove Sleeve Cover (29) from the Main Base (1) and connect
the Sensor Wire (31) to the Contact Wire (28). (See Figures B
and C.)

Step 2
•Slide the Sensor Wire (31) through the Poster (30). (See Figure D.)
•Attach the Poster (30) into the Base Console (27) with Bolt (40)
and Spring Washer (42).
•Tighten Sleeve Cover (29) onto the Base Console (29).

Step 3
•Feed the Sensor Wire (31) through the Upper Poster (34) and
attach the Upper Poster (34) to the Poster (30). (See Figure F.)
•Loosen Connect Console (32) from the Connect Cover (33) and
attach the Connect Console (32) to Poster (30) and the Upper
Poster (34) with Bolt (45). (See Figure G.)
•Tighten the Connect Cover (33) to the Connect Console (32).

Step 4
•Feed the Sensor Wire (31) through the Upper Poster (34) and
place the Top Cover (36) onto the top of the Upper Poster (34).
(See Figure I.)
•Insert the battery into the back of the Monitor (8). (See Battery
Replacement section for detailed instructions.) Attach the
Monitor (8) to the Monitor Support (35) with Bolt (39) and
place a Lock Washer (43) on both sides of the Top Cover (36).

Assembly Guide

•Attach the Monitor to the Upper Poster (34) with a Washer (44)
and a Lock Pin (37). Insert 37A and 37B as well. (See Figure K.)
•Insert the end of the Sensor Wire (31) into the hole on the
back of the Monitor (8). (See Figure L.)
Battery Replacement for LCD Screen
•Remove the battery cover from the back of the monitor.
•Insert 2 AA (UM-3) batteries into the compartment, observing
proper +/- polarities. (See Figure M.) Ensure the battery springs
are in contact with the batteries.
•Replace the battery cover.

Note:
•The batteries should last for approximately one year during
normal use.
•If the screen is illegible, or only partially legible, remove the bat-
teries, wait 15 seconds and reinsert them into the compartment.
•To reset the values to zero, remove all the batteries.
•When you are finished exercising, you do not need to press
any buttons to turn off the monitor. It will shut off automatically
after 4 minutes.
•The monitor will beep to remind you when a preset value has
been achieved.
•To reset all preset data, except Total Count function, press and
hold the MODE button for 4 seconds.
Battery Replacement for LCD Screen

MODE - Press to scroll through each function on the LCD.
RESET - Press to individually reset each preset value.
UP - Press to increase time, count and calorie values before
exercising. Note: UP button only works when the monitor is in
the Stop mode.
DOWN - Press to decrease time, count and calorie values before
exercising. Note: DOWN button only works when the monitor is
in the Stop mode.
Functions

SCAN - Automatically scans through each function in sequence.
This allows you to track your progress without having to repeatedly
press the MODE button for each function.
TIME - The monitor counts up from 0:00 to 99:59. For count-
down, set your preset target value first and the monitor counts
down from that value when you begin exercise and stops when
zero has been reached.
COUNT - The monitor counts up during exercise. For count-
down, set your preset target value first and the monitor counts
down from that value when you begin exercise and stops when
zero has been reached.
TOTAL COUNT - Accumulates totals or repetitions during different
workout sessions. This data can be reset to zero only when the
batteries are removed and replaced.
CALORIES - The monitor accumulates estimated calories burned
during your workout from zero up to 9,999. For countdown, set
your preset target amount first and the monitor counts down
from that value when you begin exercise and stops when zero
has been reached. This data is an estimated guide for use as a
comparison between workout sessions. It should not be used
for medical purposes.
Functions

PULSE - Hold on to the handgrips for a few seconds during exer-
cise and the monitor displays your current heart rate. For an
accurate, stable readout, hold both hands on the grips.

This warranty runs for 90 days from the date of original purchase.
What Is Not Covered
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or use other than as intended and described in the
product instruction manual, or loss or damage to batteries or removable parts.
What The Sharper Image Will Do
The Sharper Image will repair any defects in materials or workmanship. In the event repair is not possible,
The Sharper Image will either replace this product with one of similar features and price, or refund the full
purchase price of the product, whichever you prefer.
