Warning notice system
This manual contains notices you have to observe in order to ensure your personal safety, as well as to prevent
damage to property. The notices referring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety alert
symbol, notices referring only to property damage have no safety alert symbol. These notices shown below are
graded according to the degree of danger.
DANGER
indicates that death or severe personal injury will result if proper precautions are not taken.
WARNING
indicates that death or severe personal injury may result if proper precautions are not taken.
CAUTION
indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.
NOTICE
indicates that property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken.
If more than one degree of danger is present, the warning notice representing the highest degree of danger will
be used. A notice warning of injury to persons with a safety alert symbol may also include a warning relating to
property damage.

3.2.1 Notes on installation
Note
Protect the rack-mounted device against:
•Direct thermal radiation
•Mechanical damage
•Vibrations
•Dirt deposits
•Ingress of dust
•Corrosive media
•Moisture
•Strong and rapid temperature fluctuations
•Strong air flow
The installation location should be:
•Easily accessible
•Vibration-free
•Within the ambient temperature limits
Note
Air circulation
Ensure that a heat accumulation does not occur at the installation location. Ensure that
sufficient air circulates around the rack-mounted device.
Do not cover ventilation slots.
When installing more than one rack-mounted device, observe a distance of ≥1 height unit
(4.4 cm) upwards to the next device.

WARNING
Cable glands
The cables must have the correct diameter for the cable glands. After installation, make
sure that the cables are positioned securely and that the seals are in the correct position.
WARNING
Danger due to electrical current
Check that the existing power supply corresponds to that specified on the nameplate of the
device.
WARNING
Danger due to electrical current
The power supply cable to be connected at the customer location could be damaged by
incorrect fitting in the device.
You should therefore carry out a visual inspection and PE conductor test of the cable in
accordance with the country-specific safety standards, regulations or other applicable
directives before starting up the device. Since this is a cable which lies partially within the
device, you must always additionally apply the production safety standard IEC / EN 61010-
1 or its national version.

4.1.2.1 Electrical connection of the power supply
Procedure
Note
Appliance plug
You can use any appliance plug that fulfills the conditions of DIN EN 60320-1, ≥6 A.
The mains supply line must comply with the valid regulations and conditions for the place of
installation and be provided with a protective conductor at the potential of the housing. The
cross-section of each wire has to be ≥ 1 mm2. The phased terminal lead must be connected
in the connector at the position marked.

Connecting

● Ensure that a mains disconnection device is located in the direct vicinity of the device (for
load rating, see nameplate).
● Ensure that the supply voltage present matches that which is specified on the nameplate
of the device.
1. Connect the wires of the connecting cable to the appliance plug ③. Take the polarity into
account.
Note
Fastening screws
Tighten the screws in the appliance plug with a torque of
•0.5 Nm to the connecting terminals,
•0.3 Nm to the cable terminals (strain relief) and the connector housing.
These values apply to the optionally ordered power connector.
2. Connect the appliance plug ③ to the power supply unit ①.
