How to Use This Manual
This manual is written for the owner of the EcoView™ Energy Management System
(EMS). It is designed to help you become familiar with the EcoView EMS and the
EcoView Web applications.
Document Organization
This manual contains the following chapters:
● System Overview provides a brief description of the system and its components.
● EcoView Web provides basic getting started information and an overview of the
EcoView Web application.
●The Index is provided to assist you in finding information presented in this manual.
Document Conventions
The following table lists conventions to help you use this manual in a quick and
efficient manner.
Convention Examples
Numbered Lists (1, 2, 3…) indicate a
procedure with sequential steps. 1. Turn OFF power to the field panel.
2. Turn ON power to the field panel.
3. Contact the local Siemens Industry representative.
Conditions that must be completed or met
before beginning a task are designated with a
⊳.
Intermediate results (what will happen
following the execution of a step), are
designated with a ⇨.
Results, which inform the user that a task was
completed successfully, are designated with a

1. Select Start > Programs > Siemens > GMS >
Composer.
⇨The Project Management window displays.
2. Open an existing project or create a new one.
⇨The project window displays.
Actions that should be performed are specified
in boldface font. Type Ffor Field panels.
Click OK to save changes and close the dialog box.
Error and system messages are displayed in
Courier New font. The message Report Definition successfully renamed displays in the status bar.
New terms appearing for the first time are
italicized. The field panel continuously executes a user-defined set of instructions called the control program .
This symbol signifies Notes. Notes provide additional
information or helpful hints.
Cross references to other information are
indicated with an arrow and the page number,
enclosed in brackets: [→92]
For more information on creating flowcharts, see

Placeholders indicate text that can vary based

System Overview
Welcome to the EcoView™ Energy Management System (EMS), a wireless system
designed especially for retail and small commercial facilities to help manage energy
costs. Key benefits include:
●Real-time tracking, management, and control of energy consumption.
●Remote monitoring and control of HVAC systems and electrical loads, such as
lighting.
●No monitoring required by on-site personnel.

–The interface for remotely monitoring and controlling HVAC systems and
lighting loads at multiple locations.
–Maintains historical data on the Internet so that you may access usage and
performance reports from any Web-enabled device.
●EcoView MicroPad Controller [}11]
–A full-color 7-inch tactile display device, master controller and Internet gateway
built into a single wall-mounted unit.
– Transmits usage data for the EcoView Web application.
●EcoView Multi-phase Meter
– Measures real-time energy demand, as well as historical consumption.
–Delivers usage data to the EcoView MicroPad controller in fifteen-second
intervals.
●EcoView Thermostat
– Enables functionality that is not possible with standard 24V HVAC thermostats.
–On-site users may control local setpoints and make adjustments within
prescribed limits.

●EcoView 8 DO Module
– An eight-channel, pilot-duty controller module that is used to manage lighting,
ventilation and any energy-consuming electrical load that would benefit from
scheduling.
–Relay channels may be accessed through the EcoView MicroPad controller or
remotely through the EcoView Web application.

EcoView MicroPad Controller
The EcoView MicroPad controller is a full-color, 7-inch, tactile display device, master
controller and Internet gateway built into a single wall-mounted unit.
Basic User Navigation
●Press the EcoView MicroPad controller controls to make a selection.
NOTE: A stylus may be more effective than finger on this resistive Touchscreen.
●Press the buttons on the left side of the EcoView MicroPad controller to monitor
usage, control the system, and view information.

The Usage screen is the default display for the EcoView MicroPad controller.
1. Press the Current Consumption and History tabs to alternate the Usage display.
2. Current date and time.
3. Climate displays the current temperature for each thermostat and allows the
setpoints to be adjusted.
4. On/Off displays switches for manually controlling devices in the facility.
5. Temperatures is reserved for future use.
6. Usage displays the current energy usage in kilowatts. Includes graphs that display
total kilowatt hours used by hour, day, week, or month.
7. Support displays the contact information for EcoView system support.
Climate Screen
Press the Climate button to display the current temperature for each thermostat in
the facility and adjust setpoints, if necessary.
●Use the Arrow controls to manually adjust setpoints.

Press the On/Off button to manually control a specific piece of equipment in the
facility.
●The On/Off screen has two pages; four controls are displayed on each page.
●Press the Previous and Next buttons to toggle between
pages.
●Press the On/Off control to manually switch individual pieces of equipment ON or
OFF.

Usage Screen
Press the Usage button to display the current energy usage in kilowatts. The Energy
Use gauge automatically calibrates for each site using a rolling 30-day average of the
actual energy usage.
●When the needle displays in the green (LOW) portion of the Energy Use gauge,
the usage level is good and no action needs to be taken.
●When the needle displays in the yellow (MODERATE) or red (HIGH) portion of the
Energy Use gauge, you can turn off loads to bring the usage back into the good
(LOW) range.

Viewing a Usage Graph
Usage graphs display the total kilowatt hours consumed during the selected timeframe.
1. Press the History tab on the Usage screen.
2. Press the Hourly,Daily,Weekly, or Monthly button on the left side of the screen to
display the desired timeframe.
3. To return to the Energy Use gauge, press the Current Consumption tab.

EcoView Web
The EcoView Web application provides remote access and control of on-site devices
and systems 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From anywhere in the world, a site
owner or manager can use EcoView Web to examine current conditions, view historical
trends, and make modifications to schedules and settings affecting on-site equipment.
To access EcoView Web, go to http://siemens.com/ecoview and use the EcoView web
application login link.
Features
Use the EcoView Web application to do any of the following:
●Review the operating conditions [}32] through Site Explorer at multiple sites in real
time.
●Set up email alerts [}52] for any device that is performing outside an operating
range you’ve specified.
●Create system performance graphs [}55] or reports [}58] with just a few mouse
clicks.
System Requirements
Internet Connectivity
The EcoView MicroPad controller can be addressed using DHCP or it can be assigned
a static IP address. In either case, no additional network configuration is necessary—
the EcoView MicroPad controller automatically establishes a Web connection with the
Siemens Cloud Services. If a Proxy server is required, contact your network
administrator for the proper address and credentials.
Logging In
NOTE:
If you attempt to log in five times within ten minutes using an incorrect password, your
account will be locked. Should this happen, click Trouble Signing In? on the login
screen, and follow the onscreen instructions to unlock the account.
If you still have issues logging in, contact your EcoView Distributor or Technical
Support at 1-800-877-7545 (Dial 2) to unlock the account.
NOTE:
Contact your system administrator for a Basic EcoView Web user account. If you
need the Administrator or Supervisor login information for your account, please
contact the EcoView Siemens Technical Support at 1-800-877-7545 (Dial 2).

1. To access EcoView Web, go to http://siemens.com/ecoview and use the EcoView
web application login link.
2. Type your email address and password in the appropriate fields and click Login.
aThe Site Explorer [}32] displays.
An EcoView Web session will expire after 60 minutes of no activity.
NOTE:
Change your password [}16] the first time you log on to EcoView Web.
Settings
The Settings page allows the user to change his/her password, or update the email
address that is used as the EcoView Web user name.
Changing Your Password
Do the following to change your password:
1. From the main menu, click Settings.
aThe Settings page displays.
2. In the New Password section, type a new password in the New Password field.
3. Type the same password in the Confirm Password field.
4. Click the Update button.
aThe message Password reset displays.
aThe next time a selection is made, you will be logged out and the EcoView
Web login page will display.
5. Type your updated account information in the appropriate fields and click Login.
aThe Site Explorer [}32] displays.

Changing Your User Name
Do the following to change your user name:
1. From the main menu, click Settings.
aThe Settings page displays.
2. Type a new email address in the New Email field.
3. Type the same email address in the Confirm Email field.
4. Click the Update button.
aThe message Username reset displays.
aThe next time a selection is made, you will be logged out and the EcoView
Web login page will display.
5. Type your new email address and password in the appropriate fields and click
Login.
aThe Site Explorer [}32] displays.

NOTE:
This feature is only accessible to users with Administrator privileges.
The Audit feature allows you to view the EcoView Web activity for your sites.

●Sites,Logins, and Audit Types filters, which enable you to refine your criteria. Type a full or
partial name in the appropriate filter field. Filter results display in the drop-down list. Use the
mouse or the arrow keys to select the desired item.
To clear a filter field, click in the field you want to clear and delete the filter text. You can only
select one filter criteria, either Site, Login, or Audit types.
●Number of Days and date range drop-down lists. By default, Number of Days is set to 5.
●Go button, which displays the specified audit data information.
●Export button, which allows you to export the specified audit data to a CSV file.
●Reset button, which resets the filters and date fields to the default.
●Time zone display.
1. From the Properties menu, click Audit.
aThe EcoView Web Audit Actions pane displays.
2. Use either the Sites,Logins or Audit Types filter to display more specific
information.
NOTE: Only one filter may be selected at a time. Use the Reset button to select a
different filter after each use.
3. To display the information within a specific date range, use the Past Days list or
select a date range using the From and To drop-down lists.
4. Click the Go button to display all activity within the selected timeframe.

NOTE:
To sort the columns displayed, click on a column header. The data is sorted in
ascending order by default. To change the sort order to descending, click again on
the same column header.
Exporting Audit Data to a CSV File
Exporting data to a CSV file format allows you to perform additional evaluation of the
data values in spreadsheet or database programs.
Once the Audit data you want to export is displayed, click the Export button. Follow the
onscreen instructions to save or open the file.
Admin
NOTE:
The Admin page is only accessible to users with Administrator privileges.
The Admin (Administration) page allows users with Administrator privileges to add new
Owners and Logins, edit existing accounts [}24], and unlock accounts [}25] that are
locked due to incorrect user log-in.
Creating Owners
This feature is only accessible to users with Distributor
privileges.
To add a new owner:
1. Click the Admin button to display the Admin page.
2. Click the Owners button.
3. Click the New Owner Button.
4. Enter the required Name, Address, and Contact information, and click the Save
button.
The new owner will now be available in the drop-down list for site assignments.

Logins.
Displays all available login accounts, the last login date and time, the last date and time the account was updated, and the name of
the user who last updated the account.
The default is to only display Enabled users. To view Disabled user accounts, uncheck the Hide disabled logins? Box.
Login List Navigation.
Use the horizontal scroll bar to view the Last Updated and Last Update By columns.
Depending on the number of user accounts, you may need to use the page navigation buttons.
New Login button.
Click this button to bring up the New Login Creation screen.
Enter Search Value, which enables you to search for users by full or partial names.
Hide disabled logins? box.
Uncheck this box to display all available enabled and disabled user accounts.
Center section.
Contains the user’s email address—which is the login Username—display Name, and a Password Reset field.
NOTE: Because users are prompted to create their own passwords, you do not need to specify a password for the user. However, in
cases where you are creating a demo account that is not tied to a real email address, for example, you can set a password here.
Checking the User Enabled box provides access to EcoView Web.
Unchecking the User Enabled box disables the account. A user can no longer login, and the account will not be listed in the Admin
screen unless the Hide disabled logins? box is unchecked.
