Side Wall Kit

Product Description
The Side Wall Kit increases safety when an MEC or
MBC service box is installed outside of an enclosure.
These installations can leave the exposed right side
unprotected where it would normally be covered by
the enclosure. The Side Wall Kit protects service box
wiring and eliminates hazards made possible by
exposed internal components.
Newly produced service boxes have pre-drilled holes
for quick Side Wall Kit installation. However, earlier
service boxes require drilling prior to the Side Wall Kit
installation.

boxes.
Prerequisites
• Safely installed service box.
Expected Installation Time
3 minutes (for newer pre-drilled service boxes)
30 minutes (for older service boxes)

Side Wall Kit Plate Installation
WARNING:
Shut down power to the service box before
removing or drilling.
1. Determine if the service box has pre-drilled holes
or if it requires drilling. If the box requires drilling,
proceed to Step 2. If the box is pre-drilled, skip to
Step 4.
2. Verify that the service box is shut off and not
receiving power. In most cases, drilling holes as
indicated in Figure 1 will require removal of the
service box.

3. Drill holes. The side wall kit plate can be used to
determine placement. Be sure to compensate for
offset that will occur when the plate is placed into
position within the service box.
4. Fit the side wall plate into place and secure with
the three screws included with the kit.
The installation is now complete.
