Allgemeines :
Die Siemens-Vakuum-Leistungsschalter (V-Schalter) 3AH1
sind dreipolige Innenraum-Leistungsschalter für den Nenn-
spannungsbereich von 7,2 kV bis 24 kV.
Der V-Schalter besteht aus dem Antriebskasten mit Feder-
speicherantrieb und Steuerelementen, den drei Schalterpo-
len mit Vakuum-Schaltröhren, Gießharzstützern und Schalt-
stangen.
Die Einbaulage des V-Schalters bezogen auf die Vakuum-
Schaltröhren ist senkrecht. Der Einsatz des V-Schalters ist
praktisch in allen Anlagebauformen möglich.
Unter normalen Betriebsbedingungen ist der V-Schalter war-
tungsfrei.
General :
Siemens 3AH1 vacuum circuit-breakers (V-breaker) are of
thetriple-pole indoor typefor rated voltagesbetween 7.2 and
24 kV.
Thevacuumcircuit-breakerconsistsof themechanismhous-
ing complete with stored-energy mechanism and control
elements, the three poles with vacuum interrupters, cast-
resin insulators and operating rods.
Themounting position (relative tothe vacuum interrupters) is
vertical. The vacuum circuit-breakers can be used in practi-
cally any system design.
Undernormaloperatingconditions,thevacuumcircuit-breaker
is maintenance-free.

and letters.

694, BS 5311 und DIN VDE 0670. Die V-Schalter 3AH1 für
15 kV Nennspannung erfüllen in bezug auf das Isoliervermö-
gen die amerikanischen Vorschriften ANSI C37.
Standard specifications
The3AH1vacuumcircuit-breakerscomplywiththestandards
of IEC 56, IEC 694, BS 5311 and DIN VDE 0670. The V-
breakers3AH1for15kVratedvoltagemeetthe requirements
of the American standards ANSI C37 with respect to their
insulating capacity.

Ambient temperature/humidity and loadability
The 3AH1 V-breakers are designed for the normal operating
conditions laid down in the standards. Permissible ambient
temperatures:
Maximum value = +40 °C
Average over a period of 24 hours = +35 °C
Minimum value = – 5 °C
Permissible atmospheric humidity:
Relative humidity, 24 hour mean = max. 95%
Relative humidity, 1 month mean = max. 90%
Under these conditions condensation may occasionally oc-
cur.TheratednormalcurrentslistedinFig.1/4werelaiddown
for 40 °C ambience in accordance with DIN VDE/IEC. Use
under conditions other than normal is possible with certain
measures that can be implemented on request.
The maximum permissible load current as a function of the
3AH1V-breakerambienttemperaturehasbeenplottedinFig.
1/2. The load currents indicated apply to open-type switch-
gear. Metal-enclosed switchgear must be derated as speci-
fied by the switchgear manufacturer.
Umgebungstemperatur/Luftfeuchte und Belastbarkeit
Die V-Schalter 3AH1 sind für die in den Vorschriften festge-
legten normalen Betriebsbedingungen ausgelegt. Die zuläs-
sige Umgebungstemperatur beträgt:
Höchstwert = +40 °C
Höchstwert des 24 - Stunden - Mittels = +35 °C
Tiefstwert = – 5 °C
Die zulässige Luftfeuchte beträgt:
Durchschnittswert der relativen Luftfeuchte, gemessen über
24 Std. = max. 95%
Durchschnittswert der relativen Luftfeuchte, gemessen über
1 Monat = max. 90%
Unter diesen Bedingungen kann gelegentlich Kondensation
auftreten.DieindenelektrischenDateninFig.1/4angegebe-
nen Nennbetriebsströme wurden nach DIN VDE bzw. IEC für
eineUmgebungstemperaturvon40°Cfestgelegt.DerEinsatz
bei Abweichungen von den normalen Betriebsbedingungen
ist durch Sondermaßnahmen auf Anfrage möglich.
In Fig. 1/2 ist der Grenzwert für den Belastungsstrom in
Abhängigkeit von der Umgebungstemperatur der V-Schalter
3AH1 aufgezeichnet. Die angegebenen Belastungsströme
gelten für offene Schaltanlagen. Bei gekapselten Schaltanla-
gen ist eine Reduzierung nach Angaben des Schaltanlagen-
herstellers durchzuführen.

an insulation in air decreases with increasing altitude as a
resultofchangesintheairdensity.Standardspromulgatedby
DIN VDE, IEC and other disregard this decrease in insulating
capacity for altitude of up to 1000 m, i.e. the decrease of
approximately 9 % at this altitude is still permissible.
The standards provide no guideline for altitudes of more than
1000mwith respect to insulation ratings; theyleavethisup to
an agreement between manufacturer and user.
Our own recommendation is as follows:
Since this method used for rating insulation up to altitudes of
1000mhasprovedtobesatisfactory,itshouldalsobeapplied
to higher altitudes. The altitude correction factor a should
thereforebebasedontheinsulatingcapacityat1000m,which
is lower by 9 % (corresponding to 0.91 or ) than the capacity
at sea level.

und Schaltanlagen sind entsprechend DIN VDE 0111 und
IEC -Publikation 71 auf normale Luftverhältnisse (19013 h
Pa, 20 °C, 11 g/m3Wassergehalt der Luft), auf Meereshöhe
NN bezogen. Mit steigender Höhe nimmt das Isoliervermö-
gen einer Isolierung in Luft wegen der geringeren Luftdichte
ab. Diese Minderung des Isoliervermögens wird entspre-

sten Pol beim Schließen und dem Zeitpunkt, in dem beim
nachfolgenden Öffnen die Kontaktberührung in allen Polen
aufgehoben ist.
Beherrschte Schaltaufgaben
Die Antriebe der Leistungsschalter 3AH1 sind für Kurzunter-
brechung geeignet. Schalter für Nenn-Kurzschlußausschalt-
strom 40 kA sind bei den Nenndaten für Schnellumschalten
geeignet, können aber bis 31,5 kA für Kurzunterbrechung
eingesetzt werden.
Motorantrieb (M1)

nahme ca. 650 VA. Die Antriebsmotoren arbeiten in der kur-
zen Spannzeit zeitweise im Überlastbereich. Der Nennstrom

6zuentnehmen (die Motorschutzgeräte gehören nichtzurV-
Schalter-Lieferung und müssen gesondert bestellt werden).
Closingtime=theinterval oftimebetweentheinitiationofthe
closing operation and the instant when the contacts touch in
all poles.
Openingtime=theintervaloftimebetweentheinitiationofthe
openingoperationandtheinstantwhenthecontactsseparate
in all poles.
Arcing time = the interval of time between the instant of the
firstinitiationofan arc and the instant of final arc extinctionin
all poles.
Breaktime=theintervaloftimebetweenthebeginningof the
opening time of a circuit-breaker and the end of the arcing
time.
Close-open time = the interval of time ( in a make-break
operatingcycle)between theinstantwhenthe contactstouch
inthefirstpoleintheclosingprocess,andtheinstantwhenthe
arcing contacts separate in all poles in the subsequent open-
ing process.
Switching duties
The operating mechanisms of the 3AH1 circuit-breakers are
suitable for rapid auto-reclosure. Breakers for a rated short-
circuit breaking current of 40 kA are, at rated data levels,
suitableforrapid load transfer; up to 31.5kAtheycan also be
used for rapid auto-reclosure.
Motor operating mechanism (M1)
The maximum DC power input is 500 W (approx.). The
maximum AC power input is 650 VA (approx.). During part of
the short spring charging time the motors operate in the
overloadrange.Therecommendedratingsformotionprotec-
tion devices are shown in Fig. 1/6 (the protection devices are
not supplied with the vacuum breakers and must be ordered
separately).
