Decommissioning
Shut down the device properly to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing confidential
data in the device memory.
To do this, restore the factory settings on the device.
Recycling and disposal
The product is low in pollutants, can be recycled and meets the requirements of the WEEE
directive 2012/19/EU "Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment".
Do not dispose of the product at public disposal sites. For environmentally friendly recycling
and the disposal of your old device contact a certified disposal company for electronic scrap

Application and functions

1.1 Application
Automation system
The CP 4163-5 communications processor is intended for operation in the SIMATIC S7-4100
system.
The CP enables an additional connection of the SIMATIC S7-4100 to a PROFIBUS fieldbus
system as DP master.
You can use the CP as a router for data records intended for field devices (for example
PA Devices).
1.2 Communication services
Supported communications services
As DP master, the CP supports the following communication services:
•PROFIBUS DP with the following characteristics:
–PROFIBUS DP master (class 1)
DP master according to EN 50170, DP-V1
–DP master mode for DP Devices according to PROFIBUS DP-V0 and DP-V1
–DP master mode for Siemens DP Devices
–"DP mode"
•Diagnostics requests
As DP master (class 1), the CP supports diagnostics requests of a DP master (class 2).
•Data record routing
You can use the CP as a router for data records intended for field devices (for example
PA Devices).
The services of the CP listed above can be used independently at the same time.
1.3 Further functions
Time-of-day synchronization via PROFIBUS
The CP can be enabled for time-of-day synchronization with forwarding of time frames:
•From station to LAN

Another option is for this station to be synchronized via a different LAN. The synchronization
frame can be forwarded from the CP to the PROFIBUS network for the synchronization of
further stations.
The CP supports time stamping of distributed process signals in conjunction with the IM 153.
Time-of-day status value (standard/daylight saving time switchover, synchronization status)

Note the following fundamental behavior of the SIMATIC S7
-4100:
The CPU synchronizes all modules in the rack.
Module replacement
The configuration data of the CP is always stored on the CPU. This means that replacing
modules is possible without having to download the configuration data via the engineering
station.
1.4 Configuration limits and performance data
1.4.1 Rack components
Use of multiple CPs
By operating several CPs, you can increase the configuration limits listed below for the station
as a whole.
The CPU does, however, have set limits for the entire configuration. Observe the information
in the documentation of the CPU, see /3/ (Page 41).
CP quantity
The following limits apply to the number of CPs in a station:
•Installation in the bus module
The number of CPs is dependent on the power supply:
–1 power supply module plugged
A maximum of five CPs can be plugged.
–2 power supply modules plugged (redundant power supply)
A maximum of four CPs can be plugged.
•Installation with U-connector
A maximum of five CPs can be plugged.

1.4.2 Transmission speeds supported
The transmission speed is set in the configuration of the PROFIBUS network. For the
supported values, refer to the section Technical specifications (Page 31).
Note
Remember the cable length
The permitted cable length must be kept to depending on the transmission speed.
1.4.3 Characteristic data of the DP interface

You can use the direct I/O access of the CPU to connect the distributed I/O.

1.4.5 Other characteristics
DP diagnostics frames when the CPU is in STOP
All diagnostic frames from DP-V0 standard Devices and all DP alarm frames from DP-S7/DP-V1
standard Devices arriving when the CPU is in STOP mode are handled as follows:
The diagnostic/alarm frames are forwarded even when the CPU is in STOP mode, but they
must be evaluated by a suitable user program when the module starts up.
1.5 Requirements for use
1.5.1 Hardware requirements - CPUs
Only the following CPU that can be configured in PCS neo can be used as local CPU of the
communication module:
•CPU 4168-H
as of firmware version V4.0
Note
Keep the firmware version of the communications modules up to date
Check regularly for security updates of the firmware and use them.

Meaning of the LED displays
The CP 4163-5 has the following three LEDs to display the current operating status and the
diagnostics status:
•Green: RUN
•Red: ERROR
•Yellow: MAINTENANCE

2.2 PROFIBUS interface
9-pin D-sub female connector (PROFIBUS)
The PROFIBUS connector is located behind the cover of the housing. The interface is a 9-pin
D-sub female connector operating according to the RS485 standard.
You also have the option of connecting to optical PROFIBUS networks via an Optical Bus
Terminal OBT or an Optical Link Module OLM.
You will find the pin assignment of the D-sub socket in section PROFIBUS interface terminal
assignment (Page 32).
Connectors
You can use straight connectors for the PROFIBUS connection of the CP, such as the product
6ES7972-0BA12-0XA0.
Angled connectors collide with the front panel of the CP.

The QR code on the front of this product, on the related printed documentation and on the
packaging identifies the product one-to-one.
The QR code is simultaneously an Identification Link in accordance with IEC 61406-1.
When you scan the QR code (e.g. with a smartphone), you directly open the Siemens Internet
page of the digital nameplate.

Note the following safety notices when setting up and operating the device and during all
associated work such as installation, connecting up or replacing the device.
3.1 Important notes on using the device
WARNING
Safety requirements for installation
The devices are "open equipment" according to the standard IEC 61010-2-201 or
UL 61010-2-201 / CSA C22.2 No. 61010-2-201. To fulfill requirements for safe operation
with regard to mechanical stability, flame retardation, stability, and protection against
contact, the following alternative types of installation are specified:
•Installation in a suitable cabinet.
•Installation in a suitable enclosure.
•Installation in a suitably equipped, enclosed control room.
3.1.1 Notes on use in hazardous areas
WARNING
Cleaning the housing
•In hazardous areas
Only clean the outer parts of the housing with a damp, but not wet, cloth.
•In non-hazardous areas
Only clean the outer parts of the housing with a dry cloth.
Do not use any liquids or solvents.
WARNING
EXPLOSION HAZARD
Do not open the device when the supply voltage is turned on.

WARNING
The device may only be operated in an environment with pollution degree 1 or 2 as
described in EN/IEC 60664-1, GB/T 16935.1.
WARNING
Power supply
The device is designed for operation with a directly connectable safety extra low voltage
(SELV) from a limited power source (LPS).
The power supply therefore needs to meet at least one of the following conditions:
•Only safety extra low voltage (SELV) with limited power source (LPS) complying with IEC
60950-1 / EN 60950-1 / VDE 0805-1 or IEC 62368-1 / EN 62368-1 / VDE 62368-1 may be
connected to the power supply terminals.
If the equipment is connected to a redundant power supply (two separate power supplies),
both must meet these requirements.
WARNING
EXPLOSION HAZARD
You may only connect or disconnect cables carrying electricity when the power supply is
switched off or when the device is in an area without inflammable gas concentrations.
3.1.2 Notes on use in hazardous areas according to ATEX / UKEX / IECEx / CCC-Ex
WARNING
Requirements for the cabinet
To comply with EU Directive 2014/34 EU (ATEX 114), UK Regulation SI 2016/1107 or the
conditions of IECEx or CCC-Ex, the housing or cabinet must meet the requirements of at
least IP54 (according to EN/IEC 60529, GB/T 4208) in compliance with EN IEC/IEC 60079-7,
GB 3836.8.
WARNING
Suitable cables at high ambient temperatures in hazardous area
At an ambient temperature of ≥60 °C, use heat-resistant cables designed for an ambient
temperature at least 20 °C higher. The cable entries used on the enclosure must comply
with the IP degree of protection required by EN IEC / IEC 60079-0, GB 3836.1.
