degreescoverage.TheSU90isdesignedformediumandlargesizedshingvessels.It
wasoriginallydevelopedforpurseseiners,butexperiencehasproventhatitisalso
wellsuitablefortrawlers.

instepsof1kHz.Thecylindricalmulti-elementtransducerallowstheomnidirectional

sonarbeamstobetiltedelectronicallyfrom-10to+60°in1°steps.Thisallowsyouto
automaticallytrackschoolsofsh,andtoobservethewholewatervolumearoundthe
vessel.Astabilizingsystemisincludedforelectronicpitchandrollcompensation.
ComparedtotheSimradSX90,thenumberofchannelsisincreasedby50%givingthe
sonaranevenbetterperformanceinselectivityandrange.

TheSU90operateson115VACand/or230VACat50/60Hz.Thisvoltageislethal!
Youmustneverworkaloneonhigh-voltageequipment!
Thehullunitispoweredbya3-phasehighvoltage.
Thisequipmentmustbeservicedonlybyqualiedpersonnelfamiliarwiththe
constructionandoperationoftheSU90,aswellasthepotentialhazardsinvolved.
Failuretoobservethisprecautioncouldresultinbodilyinjury.
1Youmustalwaysswitchoffallpowerbeforeinstallationormaintenanceworkon
theSU90system.
Usethemaincircuitbreaker,andlabelthebreakerwithawarningsignthatinforms

interface.TheOperatingPaneloffersallnecessarycontrolfunctionsfornormaloperation
oftheSU90.
ThecontrolsprovidedbytheOperatingPanelarearrangedinlogicalfunctionalgroups.
Thisoffersyouclearandeasyoperationwithfastaccesstokeyfunctionality.The
majorityoftheSU90functionscanbeaccessedusingthetrackballontheOperating
PanelandthemenusystemshownintheSU90presentation.TheOperatingPanelallows
youtoassigncertainfunctionstodedicatedbuttonsandswitches.

InordertousetheSU90,youmustrstturniton.ToturnontheSU90usethePower
buttonontheOperatingPanel.TheSU90programstartsautomaticallywhenthe
ProcessorUnitisturnedon.

1Makesurethatyouhavesufcientwaterdepthbelowthekeelbeforeyoulower
thetransducer.
2Turnonthedisplay(s).
Ifrequired,refertotheinstructionsprovidedbythedisplaymanufacturer.
3OntheOperatingPanel,pressPower,andkeepitdepressedforafewseconds.
TheblueindicatorlightinthebuttonasheswhiletheOperating
PanelestablishescontactwiththeProcessorUnit.Whenthe
connectionhasbeenmade,theblueindicatorlightislitpermanently.
WaitwhiletheoperatingsystemandSU90programisloadedand
started.BoththeProcessorUnitandtheTransceiverUnitareturned
onautomatically.

Thedialogboxoffersprogressinformation.Youcanmonitortheprogressasthe
TransceiverUnitisturnedon.Abluecircleonthehullunitsymbolmeansthatyour
SU90ProcessorUnitcommunicateswiththeMotorControlUnit.
5Oncetheprogramhasstarted,observethatthepresentationllstheentirescreen.
Theprogramstartsupusingthesamesettingsasthelasttimeyouusedit.Ifthese
settingsareacceptable,continueoperation.Ifyouwishtoalteranyofthesettings,
seetherelevantprocedures.
6Tolowerthetransducer,pressDownontheOperatingPanel.
Whilethetransducerismovingtheindicatorlampashes,andan
audiblesignalissounded.Whentherequestedpositionhasbeen
reached,theindicatorlampislit,andtheaudiblesignalstops.
Alternatively,usetheHullUnitfunctiononthetopbartolower
thetransducer.
7AtthebottomoftheMainmenu,observethattheOperationiconisashing.
TheiconisashingtoindicatethateveniftheSU90isturnedon,"pinging"is
disabled.TheSU90isinNormalmode,butTXPowerissettoOfftoprevent
transmissions.Thisisforsafetyreasons.

TheSU90consistsofspecicvisualelementsthatworktogether.Thevisualelements
provideyouwiththeechoinformationyouneed,theyhelpyoutocontrolthe
functionalityneededtounderstandthisinformation,andnally,theyallowyoutocontrol
theoperationalparameters.Bydefault,theSU90presentationcoverstheentirescreen.
Context
AllechoesofferedbytheSU90areshowninrectangularviews.Eachviewhasaspecic
purpose,anditcanbesetupwithindependentoperationalsettings.Combinationsof
theseviewsareorganizedinpresentationmodes,whichyoucanselectonthebottombar.
Youcanchangethephysicalsizeofanyview.
Tip
TheDockingViewsfunctionprovidedbytheSU90allowsyoutorearrangethephysical
positionsoftheviews,andchangetheirsizes.
