FX®9003 Protective Mask
The FX
®
9003 Protective Mask can be equipped with three (3) different lens models: Single and Double lens with Open
Cell Foam and Single lens with Close Cell Foam. Lens configurations and Foam type can easily be identified by specific
characteristics featured on the front of the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask. Please refer to pictures below to seeevery possible
lens configurations.
Open Cell Foam material characteristics
The Open Cell Foam material has a matte finish and micro bubble open cells are visible on the surface of foam
(see Fig. 21a and 24a). This type of foam can absorb a large quantity of liquid when immersed.
Close Cell Foam material characteristics
The Close Cell foam material has smooth and soft finish without any micro bubble cell visible on the surface (see Fig. 27a).
This type of foam is categorized as a self-skinning foam and provides comfort and durability. When immersed, the Close
Cell Foam material does not absorb or trap any liquid and/or bacteria.

The FX

9003 Protective Mask offers the following advantages:
•Increased breathability;
•Peripheral vision and air flow;
•Better hearing and voice transmission;
•Easy to use;
•Can be fitted independently with most military helmets.
This FX
®
9003 Protective Mask comes with a modular protective hard top cover for the users that have no service helmets.
The FX
®
9003 Protective Mask is compatible with most personal prescription corrective eye wear and also provides
accommodation of the ESS (see Fig. 1) and Revision Rx (see Fig. 2) corrective vision inserts (not included with mask).
The FX
®
9003 Protective Mask provides proper cheek weld for target acquisition and is compatible with most night vision
goggles (NVG) and helmet mounts (see Fig. 3).

The FX

9003 Protective Mask lens and lens frame should never be separated from the Goggle Assembly for cleaning (see Fig. 13
and 20). If lens and frame should become separated users must not attempt to re-install the Goggle Assembly and a new FX
®
9003
Goggle Assembly, Single lens with Close Cell Foam (8971021SP) must be installed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in
severe eye injury.
The use of approved Simunition
®
Protective equipment is MANDATORY in order to prevent serious personal injury to ears and
face during training with 9mm, .38 cal. and 5.56mm FX
®
Marking cartridges.

Check the lens before each use and replace immediately if cracks or dents are observed. No lens can protect the wearer from all
potential impacts and will not protect against all impacts nor will it protect against all chemical splashes. DO NOT USE TO PLAY
PAINTBALL.
Do Not UseAbrasive Cleaning Products or Liquids Containing Ammoniaor Alcohol,or Chlorine, or other chemicalproducts on any
surface of the Lens (Interior Fog-Resistant and Exterior -Scratch resistance).

Donning the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask
1. Open the back flap by separating the Velcro
®
.
2. Hold both ends of the back flap with your hands and place your
chin first into the mask (see Fig. 4). Put the mask over your
head. Ensure that the top mesh material is well adjusted to your
head. Ensure that your nose bridge is well adjusted with the
nose receptacle of your goggles.

3. Attach both ends of the back flap Velcro
®
fastening by overlapping the Velcro
®
hook and loop attachment (see
Fig. 5 and 5a). Ensure that your mask's back flap is tight, in order to get a good foam seal around the nose bridge
and face, this will help prevent fogging.

4. Then, make sure that the textile cover (front & sides) is properly
adjusted over your shoulders (see Fig. 6).

Donning the FX

9003 Hard Top Cover
1. The FX
®
9003 Hard Top Cover (see Fig. 7 and 8) comes with 8 circular, self-adhesive foam pads, not installed (see
Fig. 9).

2. Prior to using your Hard Top Cover, install four (4) circular foams at the
marked spots located in the interior of your FX
®
9003 Hard Top Cover
(see Fig. 8).
3. Hold your Hard Top Cover with your hands, look inside and you should
read the word
''FRONT'' engraved on the brim of your Hard Top Cover
(see Fig. 10).
4. Start by locating the center of your hard top cover and place the front
(brim) centered above the lens (see Fig. 10).

5. Flip the Hard Top Cover over your head. Ensuring that the brim on the front of the Hard Top cover is centered on
the top ventilation grill on the mask (see Fig. 11).
6. To complete the installation, apply pressure on the Velcro
®
fastener hook and loop with the help of your hands,
(1 located on front and 1 located on each side) to make sure that your hard top cover is secured firmly over your
FX
®
9003 Protective Mask (see Fig. 12).

9003 Goggle Assembly removal
1. This should only be required when replacing the Goggle
assembly (see Fig. 13).
2. Grasp and pull the nose portion of the mask’s plastic shell by
exerting a downward pressure (see Fig. 14).
3. When the lower portion (nose bridge) of the Goggle Assembly
has been dislodged, remove the Goggle Assembly for
complete disassembly from the mask’s plastic shell
(See Fig. 14a).

Note: Prior to reinstalling a new FX

9003 Goggle Assembly, thoroughly clean your mask and make sure that the
Goggle Assembly is installed in a mask free of any dirt.

Goggles replacement/installation
1. To facilitate the insertion of FX
®
9003 Goggle
Assembly into the mask’s plastic shell, place the
mask’s plastic shell in hot (150°F/76°C) water
for a period of 15 minutes. This will soften the
mask’s plastic shell. Then, pull back the textile
over the plastic shell (see Fig. 15).
Note: To facilitate the FX
®
9003 Goggle
replacement/installation, place mask on the
table.

2. From inside of the mask, insert the lower (right)
corner of the Goggle Assembly into the mask’s
plastic goggle shell lower corner (see Fig. 16).
3. Using your thumb, insert the second lower (left)
corner of FX
®
9003 Goggle Assembly into the
mask’s plastic goggle shell lower corner (see
Fig. 17a).
4. Again, using the thumb, insert the top (left and
right) corners of FX
®
9003 Goggle Assembly
into the mask’s plastic goggle shell top cavity.
(see Fig. 17b).
Note: Some physical effort may be necessary to
completely lodge the FX
®
9003 Goggle
Assembly in the mask.

5. Finally, make sure that FX

Cleaning the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask, Single lens with Open Cell Foam (8971970SP) (Discontinued)
The FX
®
9003 Protective Mask with Single Lens configuration (see Fig. 19 and 20) cleaning procedures shall be carried
out as follows:
1. Using a clean container, wash the inner and outer surface of the Single lens FX
®
9003 Protective Mask by immerging
in a solution of two (2) teaspoons of detergent (mild dish-hand washing liquid with antibacterial) for every 4 liters of hot
water, at a temperature of (35°C/ 95°F). Remove the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask from the soapy solution and drain the
outside and inside of the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask.
2. Then, rinse the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask thoroughly with cold clean water and drain water from the inside and outside
of mask.
Drying the FX®9003 Protective Mask
1. Using a clean cloth, wipe the inside of the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask. Make sure there is no excess moisture.
2. Wipe the lens carefully with a soft (non-abrasive) dry cloth, making sure the water stains from the inside and outside
surfaces of lens are removed.
3. Then, allow the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask to dry completely before storing it in its storage pouch (8971315SP).
Procedure #2
Cleaning the FX®9003 Protective Mask, Double lens with Open Cell Foam (8972220SP) (Discontinued)
The FX
®
9003 Protective Mask with Double lens configuration (see Fig. 22 and 23) cleaning procedures shall be carried
out as follows:
Note: do not immerge the mask in water
1. By using a clean soft wet cloth, wash the inside and outside surfaces (do not immerge the mask in water) of the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask witha solution of two (2) teaspoonsof detergent (mild dish-hand washing liquid with antibacterial)
for every 4 liters of hot water, at a temperature of (35°C/ 95°F).
2. Then, with the use of fresh cold water, a soft wet cloth and without immerging the mask in the water, wipe the inside and
outside of FX
®
9003 Protective Mask.
Drying the FX®9003 Protective Mask
1. Using a clean cloth, wipe the inside of the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask. Make sure there is no excess moisture.
2. Wipe the lens carefully with a soft (non-abrasive) dry cloth, making sure the water stains from the inside and outside
surfaces of lens are removed.
3. Then, allow the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask to dry completely before storing it in its storage pouch (8971315SP).

Cleaning the FX

Remove/detach, clean the Close Cell Foam and the FX®9003 Goggle Frame with lens
installed
1. Remove the Forehead and Mustache foam parts simply by pulling them free from the goggle with your hand.
2. Clean your FX
®
9003 Goggle Frame with lens installed with a clean soft, wet and non-abrasive cloth. Carefully wash all
surfaces (inside and outside).
3. Clean and wash the Close Cell Foams with a clean soft wet cloth.
Drying the Close Cell Foam and FX®9003 Goggle Frame with lens installed
1. Using a clean cloth, wipe the inside of the FX
®
9003 Goggle Frame with lens installed. Make sure there is no excess
moisture.
2. Wipe the lens carefully with a soft (non-abrasive) dry cloth, making sure to wipe any and all water stains from both lens
surfaces (inside and outside).
3. Using a clean cloth, wipe the Close Cell Foam parts. Make sure there is no excess moisture.
4. Then, allow the FX
®
9003 Goggle Frame with lens installed and the Close Cell Foam parts to dry completely.
FX®9003 Protective Mask storage (8971315SP)
A storage pouch is supplied with this FX
®
9003 Protective Mask to ensure protection of the lens. Make sure that the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask is cleaned and dried before storing. The storage pouch can also be washed by hand by immersion
into a soapy water using the cleaning procedure #1. The storage pouch shall be hung for drying.

Re-install the Close Cell Foam with the FX
®
9003 Goggle Frame with Single lens
installed
Forehead Foam Installation
Prior to re-installing the Forehead Close Cell foam onto
the Frame Goggle, identify the thinner edge of the
Forehead foam (see Fig. 28). Then, bend the Forehead
foam with your fingers and join both ends together (see
Fig. 28a).
Then align the thinner edge of the Forehead Foam right
in the center of the Goggle frame (see Fig. 29). Make
sure that the thinner edge of the Forehead foam is also
aligned with the edge of the Forehead Velcro
®
Hook
(see Fig. 29).
Then, firmly press the Forehead Foam against the
Forehead Velcro
®
Hook with your fingers. For maximum
comfort, make sure to maintain the thinner edge of the
Forehead Foam in place to properly align it with the
Forehead Velcro
®

Mustache Foam Installation
Bend the Mustache foam with your fingers and join both ends
together (see Fig. 32).
Then, align the thicker edge of the Mustache foam with the
center of the Goggle frame (see Fig. 32). Make sure that the
thicker edge of the Mustache foam is also aligned with the edge
of the Mustache Velcro
®
Hook (see Fig. 33).
Then, press firmly the Mustache Foam against the Mustache
Velcro
®
Hook with your fingers. For maximum comfort, maintain
the thicker edge of the MustacheFoam in place to properly align
it with the Mustache Velcro
®

Do not use detergents that may contain reactive cleaning/disinfecting chemicals such as alcohol or
hydrocarbons or ammonium or chlorine bleach, etc., to clean the mask and lens. Such chemicals may
reduce the ballistic properties of the lens. Mild dish-hand washing liquid with antibacterial is specified.
Do not wash or dry the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask in a washing machine or spin dryer.
Do not immerge the FX
®
9003 Protective Mask Double lens configuration (see Fig. 22 and 23)
WARRANTY: General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems-Canada Inc. (GD-OTS Canada) warrants that the
FX
®
9003 Protective Mask shall be free from defect in materials and workmanship during the period of twelve (12) months
following the date of delivery. This warranty is the exclusive warranty given by GD-OTS Canada.

cal and 5.56mm FX

Marking cartridges only. Use of any other ammunition including Paint Ball is dangerous and shall void
this warranty.
GD-OTS Canada assumes no responsibility for injuries, loss or damage resulting from misuse of this equipment. THIS

Le Masque de protection FX
®
9003 peut être équipé de trois (3) modèles de lentilles différents : Simple et Double avec
mousse à cellule ouverte etSimple avec mousse à cellule fermée. Lesconfigurations et les types de mousse sont facilement
identifiables par leurs caractéristiques spécifiques à l’avant de la lentille. Les photos suivantes indiquent toutes les
possibilités de configuration.
Caractéristiques de la mousse à cellule ouverte
La mousse à cellule ouverte est identifiable à son fini mat et à ses microbulles à cellule ouverte visibles sur sa surface (voir
Fig. 21a et 24a). En cas d’immersion, ce type de mousse peut absorber une grande quantité de liquide.
Caractéristiques de la mousse à cellule fermée
La mousse à cellule fermée est identifiable à son fini lisse et lustré ainsi qu’à l’absence de microbulles visibles sur sa surface
(voir Fig. 27a). Ce type de mousse à peau intégrée offre confort accru et durabilité. En cas d’immersion, la mousse à cellule
fermée n’absorbe ni ne retient les liquides et/ou les bactéries.

9003 est muni d’un casque protecteur rigide modulaire pour les utilisateurs qui n’ont pas de
casque militaire.

9003 est compatible avec la plupart des verres correcteurs d’ordonnance et permet d’utiliser
les inserts de lentilles correctives ESS (Fig. 1) et Revision Rx (Fig. 2), (non compris avec le masque).

9003 permet une mise en joue adéquate et est compatible avec la plupart des lunettes de
vision nocturne (NVG) et les supports de casque militaire (Fig. 3).
