1 Information on this Document
1.1 Validity
This document is valid for:
• STP 50-40 (SunnyTripowerCORE1) from firmware version ≥ 3.00.00.R
1.2 Target Group
The tasks described in this document must only be performed by qualified persons. Qualified
persons must have the following skills:
• Knowledge of how an inverter works and is operated
• Training in how to deal with the dangers and risks associated with installing, repairing and
using electrical devices and installations
• Training in the installation and commissioning of electrical devices and installations
• Knowledge of all applicable laws, standards and directives
• Knowledge of and compliance with this document and all safety information
1.3 Content and Structure of this Document
This document contains safety information as well as graphical instructions on installing and
commissioning (see page 225). Observe all information and carry out the actions illustrated
graphically in this document in the specified order.
The latest version of this document and the comprehensive manual for installation, commissioning,
configuration and decommissioning are to be found in PDF format and as eManual at www.SMA-

1.4 Levels of Warning Messages
The following levels of warning messages may occur when handling the product.

1.5 Symbols in the Document

2 Safety
2.1 Intended Use
The SunnyTripower is a transformerless PV inverter, with 6 MPPtrackers, that converts the direct
current of the PV array to grid-compliant, three-phase current and feeds it into the utility grid.
The product is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
The product must only be operated with PV modules of protection class II in accordance with
IEC61730, application class A. The PV modules must be compatible with this product.
The product is not equipped with an integrated transformer and therefore has no galvanic isolation.
The product must not be operated with PV modules whose outputs are grounded. This can cause
the product to be destroyed. The product may be operated with PV modules whose frame is
grounded.
PV modules with a high capacity to ground must only be used if their coupling capacity does not
exceed 12.6μF (for information on how to determine the coupling capacity, see the Technical
Information "Leading Leakage Currents" at www.SMA-Solar.com).
All components must remain within their permitted operating ranges and their installation
requirements at all times.
The product must only be used in countries for which it is approved or released by SMA Solar
Technology AG and the grid operator.
Use SMA products only in accordance with the information provided in the enclosed
documentation and with the locally applicable laws, regulations, standards and directives. Any
other application may cause personal injury or property damage.
Alterations to the SMA products, e.g., changes or modifications, are only permitted with the express
written permission of SMA Solar Technology AG. Unauthorized alterations will void guarantee and
warranty claims and in most cases terminate the operating license. SMA Solar Technology AG
shall not be held liable for any damage caused by such changes.
Any use of the product other than that described in the Intended Use section does not qualify as the
intended use.
The enclosed documentation is an integral part of this product. Keep the documentation in a
convenient, dry place for future reference and observe all instructions contained therein.
This document does not replace and is not intended to replace any local, state, provincial, federal
or national laws, regulations or codes applicable to the installation, electrical safety and use of the
product. SMA Solar Technology AG assumes no responsibility for the compliance or non-

2.2 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
This section contains safety information that must be observed at all times when working.
The product has been designed and tested in accordance with international safety requirements. As
with all electrical or electronical devices, there are residual risks despite careful construction. To
prevent personal injury and property damage and to ensure long-term operation of the product,
read this section carefully and observe all safety information at all times.
DANGER
Danger to life due to electric shock when live components or DC cables are
touched
When exposed to light, the PV modules generate high DC voltage which is present in the DC
cables. Touching live DC cables results in death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.
• Do not touch non-insulated parts or cables.
• Disconnect the product from voltage sources and make sure it cannot be reconnected
before working on the device.
• Do not disconnect the DC connectors under load.
• Wear suitable personal protective equipment for all work on the product.
DANGER
Danger to life due to electric shock when touching live system components in
case of a ground fault
If a ground fault occurs, parts of the system may still be live. Touching live parts and cables
results in death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.
• Disconnect the product from voltage sources and make sure it cannot be reconnected
before working on the device.
• Touch the cables of the PV array on the insulation only.
• Do not touch any parts of the substructure or frame of the PV array.
• Do not connect PV strings with ground faults to the inverter.

DANGER
Danger to life due to electric shock in case of overvoltages and if surge
protection is missing
Overvoltages (e.g. in the event of a flash of lightning) can be further conducted into the building
and to other connected devices in the same network via the network cables or other data cables
if there is no surge protection. Touching live parts and cables results in death or lethal injuries due
to electric shock.
• Ensure that all devices in the same network are integrated in the existing overvoltage
protection.
• When laying the network cable outdoors, ensure that there is suitable surge protection at
the network cable transition from the product outdoors to the network inside the building.
• The Ethernet interface of the inverter is classified as "TNV-1" and offers protection against
overvoltages of up to 1.5kV.
WARNING
Danger to life due to fire or explosion
In rare cases, an explosive gas mixture can be generated inside the inverter under fault
conditions. In this state, switching operations can cause a fire inside the inverter or explosion.
Death or lethal injuries due to hot or flying debris can result.
• In the event of a fault, do not perform any direct actions on the inverter.
• Ensure that unauthorized persons have no access to the inverter.
• Do not operate the DC load-break switch on the inverter in the event of ground fault
• Disconnect the PV array from the inverter via an external disconnection device. If there is no
disconnecting device present, wait until no more DC power is applied to the inverter.
• Disconnect the AC circuit breaker, or keep it disconnected in case it has already tripped,
and secure it against reconnection.
• Only perform work on the inverter (e.g., troubleshooting, repair work) when wearing
personal protective equipment for handling of hazardous substances (e.g., safety gloves,
eye and face protection, respiratory protection).
WARNING
Risk of injury due to toxic substances, gases and dusts.
In rare cases, damages to electronic components can result in the formation of toxic substances,
gases or dusts inside the inverter. Touching toxic substances and inhaling toxic gases and dusts
can cause skin irritation, burns or poisoning, trouble breathing and nausea.
• Only perform work on the inverter (e.g., troubleshooting, repair work) when wearing
personal protective equipment for handling of hazardous substances (e.g., safety gloves,
eye and face protection, respiratory protection).
• Ensure that unauthorized persons have no access to the inverter.

WARNING
Danger to life due to electric shock from destruction of the measuring device
due to overvoltage
Overvoltage can damage a measuring device and result in voltage being present in the
enclosure of the measuring device. Touching the live enclosure of the measuring device results in
death or lethal injuries due to electric shock.
• Only use measuring devices with a DC input voltage range of 1000V or higher.
CAUTION
Risk of burns due to hot enclosure parts
The enclosure and the enclosure lid may get hot during operation. The DC load-break switch can
not become hot.
• Do not touch hot surfaces.
• Wait until the inverter has cooled down before touching the enclosure or enclosure lid.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to weight of product
Injuries may result if the product is lifted incorrectly or dropped while being transported or
mounted.
• Carry and lift the product upright with the help of several people. Take the weight and the
center of gravity of the product into account. The center of gravity is on the side of the AC-
Connection Unit.
• Wear suitable personal protective equipment for all work on the product.
• Transport the product using the carrying handles or hoist. Take the weight of the product
into account.
• Use all carrying handles provided during transport with carrying handles.
• Do not use the carrying handles as attachment points for hoist equipment (e.g. straps, ropes,
chains). Insert eye bolts into threads provided on top of the product to attach the hoist
system.
NOTICE
Damage to the enclosure seal in subfreezing conditions
If you open the product when temperatures are below freezing, the enclosure seals can be
damaged. Moisture can penetrate the product and damage it.
• Only open the product if the ambient temperature is not below -5°C.
• If a layer of ice has formed on the enclosure seal when temperatures are below freezing,
remove it prior to opening the product (e.g. by melting the ice with warm air).

NOTICE
Damage to the product due to sand, dust and moisture ingress
Sand, dust and moisture penetration can damage the product and impair its functionality.
• Only open the product if the humidity is within the thresholds and the environment is free of
sand and dust.
• Do not open the product during a dust storm or precipitation.
• Close tightly all enclosure openings.
NOTICE
Damage due to cleaning agents
The use of cleaning agents may cause damage to the product and its components.
• Clean the product and all its components only with a cloth moistened with clear water.
NOTICE
Damage to the inverter due to electrostatic discharge
Touching electronic components can cause damage to or destroy the inverter through
electrostatic discharge.
• Ground yourself before touching any component.
NOTICE
High costs due to inappropriate Internet tariff
Depending on use, the data volume of the product transferred via the Internet may vary in size.
The data volume depends, for example, on the number of inverters in the system, the frequency
of device updates, the frequency of data transfer to SunnyPortal or the use of FTP push. High
costs for the Internet connection can be the result.
• SMA Solar Technology AG recommends using an Internet flat rate.
Change to the names and units of grid parameters to comply with the grid-
connection requirements in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/631
(valid from April 27, 2019)
To comply with the EU grid-connection requirements (valid from April 27, 2019) the names
and units of grid parameters were changed. This change is valid from firmware version
≥3.00.00.R if a country data set for fulfilling the EU grid-connection requirements (valid from
2019-04-27) is set. Names and units of grid parameters for inverters with firmware version
≤2.99.99.R are not affected by this change and remain valid. This also applies from firmware
version ≥3.00.00.R if a country data set that is valid for countries outside the EU is set.

2.1 Utilizzo conforme
SunnyTripower è un inverter FV senza trasformatore dotato di 6 inseguitori MPP che converte la
corrente continua del generatore FV in corrente alternata trifase conforme alla rete e immette
quest’ultima nella rete pubblica.
Il prodotto è idoneo all’uso in ambienti sia esterni che interni.
Il prodotto deve essere utilizzato esclusivamente con moduli FV che corrispondono alla classe di
isolamentoII in conformità con la norma IEC61730, classe di applicazioneA. I moduli FV utilizzati
devono essere idonei all’impiego con il presente prodotto.
Il prodotto è privo di un trasformatore integrato e non dispone quindi di una separazione
galvanica. Il prodotto non può essere messo in funzione con moduli FV le cui uscite siano messe a
terra. Ciò può causare danni irreparabili al prodotto. Il prodotto può essere messo in funzione con
moduli FV il cui telaio sia messo a terra.
I moduli FV con grande capacità verso terra possono essere impiegati solo se la loro capacità di
accoppiamento non supera 12,6 μF (per informazioni sul calcolo della capacità di
accoppiamento, v. l’informazione tecnica “Correnti di dispersione capacitiva” sul sito www.SMA-
Solar.com).
Tutti i componenti devono sempre rispettare il range di valori consentiti e i requisiti di installazione.

2.2 Avvertenze di sicurezza importanti
Conservazione delle istruzioni
Il presente capitolo riporta le avvertenze di sicurezza che devono essere rispettate per qualsiasi
intervento.
Il prodotto è stato progettato e testato conformemente ai requisiti di sicurezza internazionali. Pur
essendo progettati accuratamente, tutti gli apparecchi elettrici o elettronici presentano rischi residui.
Per evitare danni a cose e persone e garantire il funzionamento duraturo del prodotto, leggere
attentamente il presente capitolo e seguire in ogni momento tutte le avvertenze di sicurezza.
PERICOLO
Pericolo di morte per folgorazione in caso di contatto con cavi CC sotto
tensione
Con luce incidente, i moduli fotovoltaici producono una alta tensione CC sui cavi CC. Il contatto
con cavi CC sotto tensione o cavi può determinare la morte o lesioni mortali per folgorazione.
• Non toccare alcun componente o cavo libero sotto tensione.
• Primo di qualsiasi operazione, disinserire la tensione nel punto di collegamento e
assicurarlo contro la riattivazione.
• Non disinserire i terminali CC sotto carico.
• Indossare dispositivi di protezione individuale idonei durante qualsiasi intervento sul
prodotto.
PERICOLO
Pericolo di morte per folgorazione in caso di contatto con parti dell'impianto
sotto tensione in presenza di una dispersione verso terra
Nella dispersione verso terra i componenti dell’impianto potrebbero essere sotto tensione. Il
contatto con cavi sotto tensione o cavi può determinare la morte o lesioni mortali per
folgorazione.
• Primo di qualsiasi operazione, disinserire la tensione nel punto di collegamento e
assicurarlo contro la riattivazione.
• Toccare i cavi del generatore FV solo sull’isolamento.
• Non toccare struttura e sottostruttura del generatore FV.
• Non collegare all’inverter stringhe FV con una dispersione verso terra.

PERICOLO
Pericolo di morte per folgorazione in presenza di sovratensioni e in assenza
di protezione da sovratensioni
In assenza della protezione da sovratensioni, le sovratensioni (ad es. in caso di fulmine) possono
essere trasmesse tramite i cavi di rete o gli altri cavi dati all’interno dell’edificio e ad altri
dispositivi collegati alla stessa rete. Il contatto con cavi sotto tensione o cavi può determinare la
morte o lesioni mortali per folgorazione.
• Accertarsi che tutti i dispositivi sulla stessa rete siano integrati nella protezione da
sovratensioni esistente.
• In caso di posa esterna dei cavi di rete, occorre assicurare un’idonea protezione da
sovratensioni del prodotto nel punto di passaggio fra l’area esterna e la rete all’interno
dell’edificio.
• L’interfaccia Ethernet dell’inverter è classificata come "TNV-1" e garantisce una protezione
contro le sovratensioni fino a 1,5kV.
AVVERTENZA
Pericolo di morte per incendio ed esplosione
In rari casi in presenza di un guasto può crearsi una miscela di gas infiammabile all’interno
dell’inverter. In caso di attivazione, tale situazione all'interno dell'inverter può provocare un
incendio o un’esplosione. Pezzi bollenti o proiettati possono causare la morte o lesioni
potenzialmente mortali.
• In caso di guasto non intervenire direttamente sull'inverter.
• Accertarsi che nessuna persona non autorizzata possa accedere all’inverter.
• Non attivare il sezionatore di carico CC sull'inverter.
• Separare il generatore FV dall'inverter mediante un dispositivo di sezionamento esterno. Se
non è presente un dispositivo di distacco, attendere finché la potenza CC non è più
presente nell'inverter.
• Disinserire l’interruttore automatico di linea CA o se è già scattato lasciarlo spento e
assicurarlo contro il reinserimento involontario.
• Eseguire interventi sull'inverter (ad es. ricerca degli errori, riparazioni) solo utilizzando
dispositivi di protezione individuale per l'utilizzo di sostanze pericolose (ad es. guanti
protettivi, protezioni per occhi, viso e vie respiratorie).

AVVERTENZA
Pericolo di lesioni a causa di sostanze, polveri e gas tossici
In rari casi isolati il danneggiamento di componenti elettronici può causare la produzione di
sostanze, polveri e gas tossici all'interno dell'inverter. Il contatto con sostanze tossiche e
l'inalazione di polveri e gas tossici può causare irritazioni, corrosioni cutanee disturbi respiratori
e nausea.
• Eseguire interventi sull'inverter (ad es. ricerca degli errori, riparazioni) solo utilizzando
dispositivi di protezione individuale per l'utilizzo di sostanze pericolose (ad es. guanti
protettivi, protezioni per occhi, viso e vie respiratorie).
• Accertarsi che nessuna persona non autorizzata possa accedere all’inverter.
AVVERTENZA
Pericolo di morte per folgorazione in caso di danneggiamento irreparabile
dell'apparecchio di misurazione dovuto a sovratensione
Una sovratensione può danneggiate un apparecchio di misurazione e causare la presenza di
tensione sull'involucro dell'apparecchio di misurazione. Il contatto con l'involucro sotto tensione
dell'apparecchio di misurazione causa la morte o lesioni mortali per folgorazione.
• Impiegare soltanto apparecchi di misurazione con un range di tensione d’ingresso CC fino
ad almeno 1000V o superiore.
ATTENZIONE
Pericolo di ustioni per contatto con parti roventi dell’involucro
Durante il funzionamento l’involucro e il relativo coperchio possono diventare roventi. Il
sezionatore di carico CC non può diventare rovente.
• Non toccare le superfici roventi.
• Prima di toccare l’involucro o il relativo coperchio, attendere che l’inverter si sia raffreddato.

ATTENZIONE
Pericolo di lesioni a causa del peso del prodotto
In caso di tecnica di sollevamento errata o di caduta del prodotto durante il trasporto o il
montaggio sussiste il pericolo di infortuni.
• Il prodotto va trasportato in posizione verticale da più persone. Tenere in considerazione il
peso e il baricentro del prodotto. Il baricentro si trova sul lato della ConnectionUnitCA.
• Indossare dispositivi di protezione individuale idonei durante qualsiasi intervento sul
prodotto.
• Transportare il prodotto con l'aiuto delle impugnature di trasporto o con un dispositivo di
sollevamento. Tenere in considerazione il peso del prodotto.
• Per il trasporto con le maniglie di trasporto, utilizzare sempre tutte le maniglie di trasporto in
dotazione.
• Non utilizzare l'impugnatura di trasporto per fissare il dispositivo di sollevamento (ad es.
cinture, corde, catene). Per fissare un dispositivo di sollevamento, le viti ad occhiello devono
essere avvitati nelle filettature previste nella parte superiore del prodotto.
AVVISO
Danneggiamento della guarnizione del coperchio in caso di gelo
In caso di gelo, se si apre il prodotto è possibile danneggiare la guarnizione del coperchio.
L’umidità potrebbe penetrare all’interno del prodotto e danneggiarlo.
• Aprire il prodotto solo quando la temperatura ambiente non è inferiore a -5°C.
• Se è necessario aprire il prodotto in caso di gelo, prima di aprire il prodotto rimuovere il
ghiaccio eventualmente formatosi sulla guarnizione del coperchio (ad es. facendolo
sciogliere con aria calda),
AVVISO
Danneggiamento dovuto a penetrazione di sabbia, polvere e umidità nel
prodotto
L’infiltrazione di sabbia, polvere e umidità può danneggiare il prodotto e pregiudicarne il
funzionamento.
• Aprire il prodotto solo se l'umidità rientra nei valori limite e l'ambiente è privo di sabbia e
polvere.
• Non aprire il prodotto in caso di tempesta di sabbia o precipitazione atmosferica.
• Chiudere ermeticamente tutte le aperture dell’involucro.
AVVISO
Danni dovuti a detergenti
L’uso di detergenti può danneggiare il prodotto e parti del prodotto.
• Pulire il prodotto e tutte le parti del prodotto esclusivamente con un panno inumidito con
acqua pulita.

AVVISO
Danneggiamento dell’inverter per scarica elettrostatica
Il contatto con componenti elettronici può provocare guasti o danni irrimediabili all’inverter per
scarica elettrostatica.
• Scaricare la propria carica elettrostatica prima di toccare i componenti.
AVVISO
Possibili costi elevati dovuti a una tariffa Internet inadeguata
A seconda dell’utilizzo, il volume dati del prodotto trasmesso via Internet può può variare. Il
volume dati dipende ad es. dal numero di inverter nell'impianto, dalla frequenza di
aggiornamento di apparecchi e trasmissioni di SunnyPortal o dall’utilizzo del servizio FTP Push.
Ne possono derivare elevati costi per il collegamento Internet.
• SMA Solar Technology AG raccomanda di scegliere una tariffa flat per Internet.
Modifica dei nomi e delle unità dei parametri di rete per soddisfare i
requisiti per la connessione alla rete secondo il regolamento (UE)
2016/631 (in vigore dal 27.04.2019)
Per soddisfare i requisiti per la connessione alla rete stabiliti dall'UE (in vigore dal
27.04.2019) sono stati modificati i nomi e le unità dei parametri di rete. La modifica è valida
a partire dalla versione firmware ≥3.00.00.R se è stato impostato un record di dati nazionali
valido ai fini del rispetto delle disposizioni di collegamento in rete dell'UE (in vigore dal
27.04.2019). I nomi e le unità dei parametri di rete per inverter con versione firmware
≤2.99.99.R non sono coinvolti dalla modifica e restano quindi ancora validi. Vale anche a
partire dalla versione firmware ≥3.00.00.R se è stato impostato un record di dati nazionali
valido per paesi fuori dall'UE.
