2. Preliminary oPeraTions
It is highly recommended to become thoroughly acquainted with the contents of this manual before conguring and
using DATALOG H80/H81.
To install and connect DATALOG H80/H81, a Quick Start guide is delivered with the device. It is also available at the
following address: Http://www.socomec.com/datalogger-documentation
DATALOG H80/H81 can be congured by connecting:
• directly to DATALOG H80/H81 via the available interfaces (HDMI interfaces, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0). User can
directly connect their devices (screen, keyboard, mouse), as indicated in the Quick Start guide,
• to the web server of DATALOG H80/H81, via the browser on a workstation connected to the network.
Here is the list of compatible browsers:
• Internet Explorer v9 and higher
• Firefox v24 and higher
• Chrome v30 and higher
We recommend the use of a screen with 1280 x 900 pixel format.
3. inTroDucTion
3.1. General presentation
DATALOG H80/H81 is part of the range of communication gateways proposed by Socomec.
DATALOG H80/H81, installed at the heart of the energy ecosystem, allows you to:
• automatically collect energy data from meters and multi-uid measuring stations;
• pool, secure and store energy data;
• publish data to a system or an external application.

DATALOG H80/H81 is available in 2 versions:
• DATALOG H80: 4 LAN Ethernet ports
• DATALOG H81: 4 LAN Ethernet ports + 1 wireless 3G port (for publishing data)

3.2. Communication architecture
DATALOG H80/H81 is interconnected with various external devices for the operation of certain services:
• FTP / HTTP servers for the publication of data stored in DATALOG H80/H81 and the backup of alarm and log
les, as well as a conguration backup
• SMTP server: for sending activity reports by e-mail

3.4. Conguration of 3G communication of DATALOG H81
If a 3G connection is used, the user will need to congure the Windows services of DATALOG H81 so that the
connection can be activated automatically.
To access the conguration menu of the Windows services, the user can use the script “Remote Desktop
Connection”.
- Access the “MSTSC.exe” script on your computer
- Enter the URL of DATALOG H81
- Use the Windows account
Account: .\admin
Password: To nd out the password, contact your advisor at Socomec.
Once connected to DATALOG H81:
- Access the “Control Panel” section in the Start menu.

- Then access the “Administrative Tools” section
- Then access “Services”
- Finally access the “Socomec Network Connection Service”

Set the “Start-up type” in the General menu to “Automatic”
3.5. Access the conguration of DATALOG H80/H81
To access the conguration of DATALOG H80/H81, the user has several ways:
1. By directly connecting a keyboard and screen to DATALOG H80/H81, then by clicking on the icon
2. By accessing the “Remote Desktop Connection” script (see Chapter 3.5), and then clicking on the icon
3. Via a web browser: enter the URL of DATALOG H80/H81

4. confiGuraTion
DATALOG H80/81 must be congured so the different functions of collecting, storing and publishing data can be
used.
Below are the details of the various possible conguration options.
4.1. Identication
To accessing the conguration interface, the user requires a password.

4.3. Declare devices
Important prerequisite:
The conguration of the communication gateways and devices connected to DATALOG H80/H81 must be carried
out beforehand using the Easy Cong software (see documentation DIRIS G, DIRIS, DIRIS Digiware & Easy Cong).
Once DATALOG H80/H81 has been installed and connected as per the Quick Start instructions, the conguration
of DATALOG H80/H81 can then be carried out.

Conguration of DATALOG H80/81
Declaring devices in the "Device" tab allows the user to create, congure, and delete the communication gateways
and measuring devices that he wishes to manage in DATALOG H80/H81.
4.3.1. Management of communication gateways
The home page of the "Devices" tab allows the user to view and manage all gateways seen by DATALOG H80/H81.
From this page, the user can:
• “General” tab: Change the name and the description of the general tree structure of the communication gateways
seen by DATALOG H80/H81
• “IP gateways seen by the communication service” tab: Manage all gateways (creation, deletion and modication
of associated settings such as the name, IP address and software port)
• Access the settings of each gateway from the list of devices on the left strip of the page

4.3.2. Adding devices to DATALOG H80/H81:
To add devices, the user can right mouse click on the root of the tree (devices tab) to access 2 options:
• The purpose of the "Auto-discovery of devices" function is to identify all devices connected to DATALOG H80/
H81. It allows users to simplify adding devices by scrolling through all devices in DATALOG H80/H81.
• The “Add a device” function allows users to create devices, one by one.
4.3.3. Auto discovery of devices
This function allows users to auto-discover devices connected to DATALOG H80/H81:
• New device: New devices compared with current conguration
• Modied device: Existing devices in the current conguration, but with some changed settings
• Device in conict: Device for which the conguration conicts with others (example same IP address for
gateways)
• Device not found: Devices not found at the launch of the auto-discovery process, even though they are in the
previous conguration
By starting the “Auto-discovery of devices” function, all devices found, classied by gateway, will be presented to
the user.
The user can individually select (check / uncheck) devices that he wishes to update in the conguration of
DATALOG H80/H81.

4.3.4. Add a device
The “Device property” page allows users to ll in or modify all information required to correctly connect and send
device data
To add a device (communication gateway, measuring device…) to the conguration, the user must:
• Name: Enter a unique name for the device
• Description: Give a brief description (optional)
• Location: Indicate the location of the device in the hierarchy or its geographical location (optional)
• Type: Select the type of device in the proposed list (Socomec device or a generic mode in Modbus or SNMP for
the products of other brands)
• Communication (for devices connected in Modbus mode): the user must specify the communication mode
- Connection: select the connection mode (direct or via gateway) and the protocol (Modbus TCP or
Modbus TCP RTU)
- Modbus address of the device (between 1 and 255)

- IP gateway the gateway (for connections via gateway): Access a drop-down list of all gateways declared
in the conguration
- IP address (for direct connections): Enter the IP address of the device
- Software port (502 for Modbus TCP and 503 for Modbus TCP RTU)
• Communication (for a connected device in generic SNMP mode): the user must specify the communication mode
- Connection: select the connection mode (direct SNMP or via gateway)
- IP address (for direct connections): Enter the IP address of the device
- IP gateway the gateway (for connections via gateway): Access a drop-down list of all gateways declared
in the conguration
- IP address (for direct connections): Enter the IP address of the device
- Software port: 161
- SNMP read-only community: Enter the password for read access to the SNMP server
- SNMP write-only community: Enter the password for write access to the SNMP server
- SNMP version: State the SNMP version (1, 2, or 3)
• Proles: The user can select a prole (Energy Efciency - Power Monitoring - Power Quality) from pre-selected
variables associated with the device. These settings can be changed in data conguration. Proling variables is
only available for Socomec devices.
• Advanced settings: This feature is used to manage the consistency and the continuity of the data while a device
is being replaced. The user must:
- Key: Change the key associated with the old device
- Network identier: State the unique identier of the device on the network
• Other operations for devices
For the device listed in the conguration, the user may also right click on the device and carry out the following
operations:

• Delete the device
• Duplicate the device
• Duplicate the device with its variables
• Rename the device

4.4. Declare data
Data is declared by associating the data that the user wishes to collect, store and publish to the application or the
external system with the devices created in the previous step.
While declaring SOCOMEC devices, the user selected the prole(s) associated with the device (Energy Efciency,
Power Monitoring, Power Quality). These proles include coherent pre-selected variables associated with various
SOCOMEC devices that DATALOG H80/H81 can control.
Here is the list of variables in the proles:

Organising variables into proles is recognized and available for all Socomec measuring devices. It simplies the
conguration of Socomec devices.

4.4.2. Selection of variables for the device concerned
To select the variables managed by DATALOG H80/H81, the user:
1. Selects a communication gateway or measuring device from the list (1)
2. Chooses the type of variable (Measurement, Meter/Index, Status, Alarm) from the drop-down list (3)
3. Selects the variables from the list of available variables (5) to add to the list of variables selected for the device concerned (4)
4. Moves the variables by dragging/dropping list (5) to list (4)
5. Manages the properties of the variable selected from the list (4)
4.4.3. Setting the properties of the variables (for the following types: Measuring, Meter/
Index)
The properties of the variable selected from the list (2) are editable in the sidebar (4).
For each variable, the user can set:
• In the “General” tab
- Name: A variable can be renamed
- Unit: The variable can be changed
- Fluid: For pulse meters, specify the uid
- Usage: A usage can be associated from a
predened list
- Deactivated: A set variable can be manually
deactivated
• In the “Data acquisition” tab
- Device: Setting can only be edited in the “Device”
tab
- Data: This setting cannot be modied
- Data polling: The data collection period for the
variable can be set (steps of 10" minimum)
- Load number: For devices that can be connected
to more than one load, the user must indicate the
number of the load concerned
- Default unit: A default unit can be assigned if the
unit eld has not been lled in
- Unit multiplier: A unit can be converted (e.g. W to
kW)

4.4.4. Setting the properties of the variables (for the following types: Status)
The properties of the variable selected from list (2) are editable in the sidebar (4).
For each variable, the user can set:
• In the “General” tab
- Name: A variable can be renamed
- Input: State the device input
- Deactivated: A set variable can be manually deactivated
• In the “Data acquisition” tab
- Device: Setting can only be edited in the “Device” tab
- Data: This setting cannot be modied
- Data polling: The data collection period for the variable can
be set (steps of 10" minimum)

4.4.5. Setting the properties of the variables (for the following types: Alarm)
The properties of the variable selected from list (2) are editable in the sidebar (4).
For each variable, the user can set:
• In the “General” tab
- Name: A variable can be renamed
- Deactivated: A set variable can be manually deactivated
• In the “Alarm” tab
- Type of alarm: Setting that cannot be edited, stating the
type of alarm (On threshold, Differential, Communication
fault, Status of the device…). This type of alarm
differs depending on the data managed by the device
(Voltage, Current, Energy, Temperature, Diagnosis of the
communication…)
The elds to lled in differ according to the type of alarm.
In the example shown here, the alarm is an "On threshold"
type, and the following elds must be lled in:
- Value of the threshold: Indicate the threshold that will trigger
the alarm
- Hysteresis in %: State whether this alarm is subject to a
hysteresis phenomenon
- Triggered if: State whether it is a high threshold or a low
threshold
• In the “Data acquisition” tab
The elds to be lled in for this tab differ according to the
type of alarm
In our example, the user must ll in the following elds:
- Device: Setting can only be edited in the “Device” tab
- Data: This parameter cannot be modied
- Data polling: The data collection period for the variable can
be set (steps of 10" minimum)
- Load number: For devices that can be connected to more
than one load, the user must indicate the number of the
load concerned
