Before use
•This car battery adapter cannot be used with PEG-N or
PEG-S series CLIÉhandhelds.
•This car battery adapter is designed for negative ground
12 or 24 V DC operation only.
•For information about the polarity and battery voltage of
your car, please consult your car dealer.
•Avoid subjecting the car battery adapter to heat sources
such as direct sunlight or heaters.
•Disconnect the unit from the cigarette lighter socket
when the engine is turned off.
How to use
Connect the car battery adapter to the DC IN connector of
the plug adapter (1), and connect the plug adapter to the
interface connector of your CLIÉhandheld (2).
When you plug the battery adapter into the cigarette lighter
socket (3), battery charging begins automatically. The
battery indicator in the Applications Launcher display on
your CLIÉhandheld changes to .
Note
Do not plug the car battery adapter into the cigarette lighter socket
immediately after using the cigarette lighter. First allow the socket
to cool down.
To disconnect the plug adapter from the CLIÉ
handheld
Fuse replacement
If the CLIÉhandheld connected to the car battery adapter
does not function correctly, make sure that the fuse in the
car battery adapter has not blown. If it has blown, replace
the fuse in the following way.
1Pull the car battery adapter’s cigarette lighter plug out of
the cigarette lighter socket.
2Detach the end of the plug by turning it counterclockwise.
3Replace the fuse with new one.
4Reattach the end of the plug by firmly turning it clockwise.
Notes
•When replacing the fuse, use one of the correct amperage, as
stated on the fuse case. (2.5 A, 125 V, approx. 30 mm)
•Do not use a piece of wire instead of a fuse.
•If the replaced fuse blows again immediately, consult your car
dealer.

Notes on use
•Do not subject the unit to:
–Extreme heat or cold
–Dust, dirt, or sand
–High humidity

–Mechanical shock

•While the unit is not in use, always disconnect it from the
cigarette lighter socket.
•Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the
metal parts of this unit. If this happens, a short circuit
may occur and the unit may be damaged.
•Do not operate the unit if it has a damaged cord or if it
has been dropped or damaged.
•Always keep the metal contacts clean.
•Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
•While the unit is in use, it gets warm. This is normal.
•While driving a car, do not leave your CLIÉhandheld
placed on a unstable place. Otherwise, your CLIÉ
handheld may drop, resulting in possible damage.
On cleaning
Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth or a soft cloth lightly
moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any
type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzine, which may
damage the finish.

Consignes d’utilisation

Remplacement du fusible
Si l’ordinateur de poche CLIÉbranchéau àl’adaptateur de
batterie ne fonctionne pas correctement, vérifiez que le
fusible de l’adaptateur pour batterie de voiture n’a pas
fondu. Si c’est le cas, remplacez le fusible en procédant
comme suit.
1Retirez la fiche de l’allume-cigare de l’adaptateur pour
batterie de voiture de la prise de l’allume-cigare.
2Dévissez l’extrémité de la fiche en la tournant dans le sens
inverse des aiguilles d’une montre.
3Remplacez le fusible par un fusible neuf.
4Revissez l’extrémité de la fiche en la tournant dans le sens
des aiguilles d’une montre.
Remarques
•Lors du remplacement du fusible, vérifiez bien l’ampérage : il doit
être conforme àcelui indiquésur le boîtier àfusibles.

Nettoyage
Nettoyez l’appareil avec un chiffon doux et sec ou un

détergente neutre. N’utilisez aucun type de solvant comme
de l’alcool ou de l’essence, qui risque d’abîmer la finition du
boîtier.

Vorbereitungen
•Dieser Autobatterieadapter kann nicht mit CLIÉ-
Handhelds der Serie PEG-N oder PEG-S eingesetzt
werden.
•Dieser Autobatterieadapter eignet sich ausschließlich für
den Betrieb an 12 oder 24 V Gleichstrom (negative
Erdung).
•Informationen über die Polarität und Batteriespannung
bei Ihrem Auto erhalten Sie bei Ihrem Autohändler.
•Schützen Sie den Autobatterieadapter vor Wärmequellen
wie direktem Sonnenlicht und Heizungen.
•Lösen Sie das Gerät von der Zigarettenanzünderbuchse,
wenn Sie den Motor ausschalten.
Gebrauch
Schließen Sie den Autobatterieadapter an den
Gleichstromeingang DC IN des Zwischensteckers an (1)
und schließen Sie dann den Zwischenstecker an den
Schnittstellenanschluss des CLIÉ-Handheld an (2).
Wenn Sie den Autobatterieadapter an die
Zigarettenanzünderbuchse anschließen (3), beginnt der
Akkuladevorgang automatisch. Die Akkuanzeige im
Applications Launcher des CLIÉ-Handheld wechselt zu .
Hinweis
Verbinden Sie den Autobatterieadapter nicht mit der
Zigarettenanzünderbuchse, direkt nachdem Sie diese
verwendet haben. Lassen Sie die Buchse zunächst abkühlen.
So lösen Sie das Netzteil vom CLIÉ-Handheld
Austauschen der
Sicherung
Wenn der an den Autobatterieadapter angeschlossene CLIÉ-
Handheld nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert, überprüfen
Sie, ob die Sicherung im Autobatterieadapter durchgebrannt
ist. Wenn die Sicherung durchgebrannt ist, wechseln Sie sie
wie folgt aus :
1Ziehen Sie den Stecker des Autobatterieadapters für die
Zigarettenanzünderbuchse aus der
Zigarettenanzünderbuchse.
2Drehen Sie die Spitze des Steckers gegen den Uhrzeigersinn
und nehmen Sie sie ab.
3Ersetzen Sie die Sicherung durch eine neue.
4Bringen Sie die Steckerspitze wieder an und drehen Sie sie
im Uhrzeigersinn gut fest.
Hinweise
•Wenn Sie eine Sicherung austauschen, achten Sie darauf, eine
Ersatzsicherung mit dem richtigen Ampere-Wert zu verwenden.
Dieser ist auf der Verpackung der Sicherung angegeben (2,5 A,
125 V, ca. 30 mm).
•Verwenden Sie auf keinen Fall ein Stück Draht anstelle einer
Sicherung.
•Wenn die neue Sicherung sofort erneut durchbrennt, wenden Sie

Cómo utilizarlo

Sustitución del fusible
Si el CLIÉportátil conectado al adaptador de batería para
