よび点検を行う必要がある場合は、必ず
サービストレーニングを受けた技術者に
ご依頼ください。
内部に水や異物を入れない
水や異物が入ると火災や感電の原因とな
ることがあります。
万一、水や異物が入ったときは、すぐに
カメラの電源を切り、接続ケーブルを抜
いて、ソニーのサービス担当者または営
業担当者にご相談ください。
油煙、湯気、湿気、ほこりの
多い場所では設置・使用しな
い
上記のような場所で設置・使用すると、
火災や感電の原因となります。
ビューファインダーの取り付
けは確実に行う
ビューファインダーは確実に固定してく
ださい。正しく取り付けられていない
と、落下してけがの原因となることがあ
ります。
ビューファインダーを取り外
すときは、指示にしたがって
行う
ビューファインダーの取り外しは、この
説明書に記載されている方法で行ってく
ださい。正しく取り外さないと、落下し
てけがの原因となることがあります。
三脚アタッチメントは重心を
考慮して取り付ける
三脚アタッチメントを取り付けるとき
は、重心を考え、バランス良く取り付け
てください。
正しく取り付けられていないと、落下し

概要
HD エレクトロニックビューファインダー HDVF-C730W
は、ソニーハイビジョンカラーカメラ用の 6.5 型カラー
ビューファインダーです。
本機には以下のような特長があります。
小型軽量
LCD の採用により、画面サイズが同等の CRT ビューファ
インダーと比べて小型軽量化を実現しています。
マルチスキャン
カメラからの制御信号により、これまでの 60i に加えて、
24PsF や 50i などの各種フォーマットに対応します。
高解像度
高精細 LCD を採用し、水平解像度 500 本以上の高解像度を
実現しています。
安定した画像
LCD の採用により、画面の明るさに関係なく、ひずみのな
い安定した画像が得られます。
ステップ可変ピーキング補正
ステップ可変ピーキング補正回路により、シャープな画像
が得られ、カメラのピント合わせが容易です。
タリーランプ
タリー信号によって点灯する 2 系統 ( レッドおよびグリー
ン ) のタリーランプを備えています。
優れた操作性
高さを 3 段階に設定でき、上下両方向に 90°ずつ、左右両
方向に 90°ずつ角度を変えることができます。
防滴構造
多少の雨にも耐えられる防滴構造により、戸外での撮影に
も適しています。
屋内フードおよび屋外フードを取り付け可能
堅牢で操作性のよい屋内フード ( 付属 ) と、遮光性に優れて
いる屋外フード ( 別売り ) を取り付けることができます。
使用上のご注意
•本機の液晶パネルは有効画素 99.99%以上の非常に精密度
の高い技術で作られていますが、画面上に黒い点が現れ
たり（画素欠け）、常時点灯している輝点（赤、青、緑な
ど）や滅点がある場合があります。また、液晶パネルの
特性上、長期間ご使用の間に画素欠けが生じることもあ
ります。これらの現象は故障ではありませんので、ご了
承の上本機をお使いください。
•静止画を継続的に表示すると残像が現れることがありま
す。長時間使用しないときは電源を切ってください。
•低温でのご使用時には、電源投入直後、動解像度が低下
いたします。
•画面の表面からほこりを取り除くときは、ブロアーをお
使いください。
•画面をクリーニングするときは、シンナーなどの溶剤は
いっさい使用しないでください。
液晶パネルの寿命について
液晶パネルは使用とともに輝度が低下します。これはパネ
ルの特性によるもので、製品の不良ではありません。
CONTRAST つまみ、BRIGHT つまみで調整しても暗いと
感じたときは、ソニーのサービス担当者または営業担当者
にご相談ください。

aPOWER スイッチ
液晶パネルのの電源を ON/OFF します。
b （注意）ランプ
カメラがある特定の状態になったとき点灯します。どの状
態で点灯させるかは、カメラで設定できます。

dBRIGHT（明るさ調節）つまみ
画面の明るさ（輝度）を調節します。（カメラの映像出力に
は影響しません。）
eフリクション調節 / ロックレバー
チルティング操作のフリクションを希望の度合いに調節し
ます。
また、本機を希望の角度に固定するレバーです。レバーを
カメラのレンズ側に倒すと固定され、手前に倒すとフリク
ションを調節できます。
fCONTRAST（コントラスト調節）つまみ
画面のコントラストを調節します。（カメラの映像出力には
影響しません。）
gPEAKING（ピーキング調節）つまみ
画像の輪郭を補正できます。（カメラの映像出力には影響し
ません。）
右に回すと補正量が多くなります。調節可能範囲は OFF
〜 26 dB です。
hBATT（バッテリー）ランプ
カメラに接続したバッテリーの電圧が下がると点滅します。
バッテリーが使用できなくなると点灯します。
動作中断を防ぐため、バッテリーが点滅を開始した時点で、
すばやくバッテリーを交換してください。
◆ 点滅を開始する電圧を、カメラ側で設定することができます。
詳しくは、使用しているカメラのマニュアルをご覧ください。
iレッドタリーランプ
カメラにレッドタリー信号が供給されると点灯（赤）しま
す。
jリフトロック解除ノブ 1
リフトロック解除ノブ 2 と併用して、本機の高さを調節す
るとき使用します。
◆ 操作方法については、「高さ調節」（9 ページ）をご覧ください。
k外部タリーランプ
カメラにレッドタリー信号が供給されると点灯（赤）しま
す。0 から 9 までのナンバープレート（付属）を取り付け
て、カメラの番号を表示できます。
l外部タリー光量調節ボリューム
調整用ドライバーなどを差し込んで光量を調節できます。
左方向に回すと明るくなり、右方向に回すと暗くなります。
mTALLY ON/OFF（タリーオン / オフ）スイッチ
外部タリーランプをコントロールします。
ON：タリーランプが機能する。
OFF：タリーランプが機能しない。（レッドタリー信号がカ
メラに供給されても、点灯しない。）
nB&W（白黒表示）スイッチ
カラー表示と白黒表示を切り換えます。
ON：白黒表示
OFF：カラー表示
oタリー光量調節スイッチ
前面のレッドタリーランプ、グリーンタリーランプ、
BATT ランプ、 ランプの光量を調節します。
pリフトロック解除ノブ 2
リフトロック解除ノブ 1 と併用して、本機の高さを調節す
るとき使用します。

qカメラ端子（丸型 20 ピン）
付属の接続ケーブルを使って、カメラのビューファイン
ダー端子と接続します。
rクランパー
付属の接続ケーブルを固定します。
sマウントウェッジ
本機をカメラに取り付けるとき、カメラ上面の V 字型溝に
はめます。

カメラに V ウェッジシューアタッチメント（付属）を取り
付け、アタッチメントに本機を取り付けます。
•本機をカメラに取り付け / 取り外しするときには、かなら
ず本機を標準位置（最高位置）にロックしてください。
•本機をカメラから取り外すときは、三脚のチルトロック
を確実に行い、本機を確実に持って取り外してください。
また、本機およびカメラの転倒・落下にご注意ください。
◆ カメラに取り付けた後本機の位置を変える方法については、「位
置を調節する」（9 ページ）の手順をご覧ください。
1 4個のプラスチックキャップを外し、Lレンチ(付属)と六
角穴付きボルト（4 × 12、4 本付属）を使って、V
ウェッジシューアタッチメント（付属）をカメラの上
部に取り付ける。
2 フリクション調節/ロックレバーを時計回りの方向に回
してロックする。
本機を Ｖ ウェッジシューアタッチメントにしっかりと
差し込む。
カチッと音がして固定されます。
3 接続ケーブル（付属）を使用して、本機のカメラ端子
とカメラの VF 端子とを接続する。
接続ケーブルは、下図のようにクランパーで固定する。
取り外すときは
フリクション調節 / ロックレバーを時計回りの方向に回し
てロックします。
レバーを引きながらボタンを押して取り外します。

本機をカメラに取り付けたままカメラを移動するときは、
本機を標準位置（最高位置）まで引き上げ、フリクション
調節 / ロックレバーをカメラのレンズ側に倒してロックし
てください。また、リフトロック解除ノブ 1 が LOCK 側に
固定されていることを確認してください。
高さ調節
1 リフトロック解除ノブ1 をRELEASE 側に止るまで回し
てロックを解除する。
2 本機を確実に持ちながら、リフトロック解除ノブ 2 を引
き、本機を標準位置（最高位置）、中間位置、または、
最低位置に移動する。
カチッと音がして固定されます。
3 リフトロック解除ノブ1をLOCK側に回して確実に固定
する。
本機は標準位置（最高位置）、中間位置、最低位置のいずれ
かの位置のみで固定が可能です。

Overview
The HDVF-C730W HD Electronic Viewfinder is a 6.5-
type color viewfinder for use with a Sony high-definition
color camera.
This viewfinder has the following features:
Compact and lightweight
The viewfinder uses an LCD panel, making it more
compact in size and lighter in weight as compared with a
CRT viewfinder that has a display of the same size.
Multiscan
In addition to the 60i format, formats such as 24PsF and
50i are supported for control signals from the camera.
High resolution
The high-resolution LCD panel of the viewfinder provides
500 or more lines of horizontal resolution.
Stable picture
The LCD panel provides a stable image without distortion,
regardless of screen brightness.
Step-variable peaking
Step-variable peaking circuits provide a sharp image,
making it easy to focus the camera.
Tally lamps
The viewfinder has red and green tally lamps which light
in response to tally signals.
Superior usability
The height can be set to one of three positions. It can be
tilted up to 90º upwards or 90º downwards, and can be
panned up to 90º leftwards or 90º rightwards.
Drip-proof construction
The drip-proof design is able to withstand light rain,
making the viewfinder well suited to outdoor use.
Studio monitor hood, outdoor hood
The viewfinder can be fitted with a strong, easy-to-use
hood (supplied), or an outdoor hood with excellent shading
ability (option).
Notes
• The LCD panel fitted to this unit is manufactured with
high precision technology, giving a functioning pixel
ratio of at least 99.99%. Thus a very small proportion of
pixels may be “stuck”, either always off (black), always
on (red, green, or blue), or flashing. In addition, over a
long period of use, because of the physical
characteristics of the liquid crystal display, such “stuck”
pixels may appear spontaneously. These problems are
not a malfunction.
• If you leave the viewfinder displaying a still image for a
long time, an afterimage may appear on the screen. Turn
the power off if the viewfinder is not to be used for an
extended period of time.
• When using the viewfinder at low temperature, dynamic
resolution drops just after turning the power on.
• Use a blower to remove dust from the screen.
• Do not use a solvent such as thinner to clean the screen.
LCD-panel lifespan
The brightness of the LCD panel will gradually degrade
through use. This is a characteristic of liquid crystal
displays, and is not a malfunction. If adjustments to
CONTRAST control and BRIGHT control do not improve
brightness, contact your Sony representative.

Turns the LCD panel on and off.
b(attention) indicator
This indicator lights when the camera detects certain
conditions. The particular conditions which cause the
indicator to light up are set up by the camera.
For information on how to set up and verify the conditions
under which the indicator will light, refer to the manual
for the camera being used.

Light up when the camera receives a green tally signal.

Location and Function of Parts
dBRIGHT (brightness) control
Adjusts the picture brightness. (This control has no effect
on the camera’s video output signals.)
eFriction adjustment/lock lever
Adjusts the amount of friction in the tilting mechanism.
Also, locks the viewfinder into a desired angle. The angle
is locked when the lever is pushed towards the camera
lens. When the lever is pulled towards the back of the
camera, the tilting mechanism can be adjusted.
fCONTRAST control
Adjusts the picture contrast. (This control has no effect on
the camera’s video output signals.)
gPEAKING control
Sharpens the edges in the picture. (This control has no
effect on the camera’s video output signals.) Turning the
control clockwise increases the sharpness. The peaking
can be adjusted from off to 26 dB.
hBATT (battery) indicator
This indicator blinks when the voltage output of the
camera battery drops. When the battery reaches a point that
it may no longer be used, the indicator will light up.
To prevent camera shut down due to the battery running
down, change the battery as soon as possible after this
indicator begins blinking.
The threshold battery voltage value to make this indicator
begin blinking is set by the camera. For details, refer to the
manual for the camera.
iRed tally lamps
Light up when the camera receives a red tally signal.
jLift-lock release knob 1
Adjust the viewfinder height using lift-lock release knob 2
together with this knob.
For the height adjustment operation, see “Adjusting the
Height” on page 21.
kExternal tally lamp
Lights up red in response to a red tally signal. Can be used
to display the camera number by attaching one of the
supplied number plates (0 through 9).
lExternal tally dimmer control
Adjusts the brightness of the external tally lamp. Use a
screwdriver to turn the control counterclockwise to
increase the brightness, or clockwise to dim the lamp.
mTALLY ON/OFF switch
Controls the external tally lamp. When set to ON, the
external tally lamp will operate.
When set to OFF, the lamp will not operate (will not light
in response to a tally signal).
nB&W (black and white) switch
Switches between monochrome display and color display.
ON: Monochrome display
OFF: Color display
oTally dimmer switch
Adjusts the brightness of the red tally lamps, the green
tally lamps, the (attention) indicator, and the BATT
(battery) indicator on the front panel.
pLift-lock release knob 2
Adjust the viewfinder height using lift-lock release knob 1
together with this knob.
For operation instructions, see “Adjusting the Height” on
page 21.
qCAMERA connector (round type 20-pin)
Connect to the camera’s viewfinder connector using the
supplied connecting cable.
rClamper
Clamps the supplied connecting cable.
sMounting wedge
To attach the viewfinder to a camera, the mounting wedge
is inserted into the V-shaped groove on the top of the
camera.

Attaching to the Camera
Attach the V-shaped shoe attachment to the top of the
camera, then attach the viewfinder to the V-shaped shoe
attachment.
• Before attaching the viewfinder to or removing it from a
camera, always be sure to lock the viewfinder in the
standard (top) position.
• Before removing the viewfinder from the camera, be
sure to lock the tilt lock of the tripod. Grasp the
viewfinder firmly when removing, and be careful not to
drop it or the camera.

position, see “Adjusting the Position” on page 21.
1 Remove the four plastic caps, then use the supplied
hexagonal key and the hexagonal socket head screws
(4×12, four screws supplied) to attach the supplied V-
shaped shoe attachment to the top of the camera.
2 Turn the friction adjustment/lock lever clockwise to
lock the viewfinder.
Mount the viewfinder firmly in the V-shaped shoe
attachment.
There is an audible click when the viewfinder snaps
into the attachment.
3 Connect the viewfinder’s camera connector to the
camera’s viewfinder connector using the supplied
connecting cable.
Clamp the connecting cable in the clamper as shown
in the following figure.
Removing the viewfinder
Turn the friction adjustment/lock lever clockwise to lock
the viewfinder.
Remove the viewfinder from the attachment by pushing
the button while pulling the lever.
