Thisoperating manualisintended to familiarize the userwith the 2230 Pup and its
designated use.
Thisoperating manualcontainsimportant information on howto operate the machine safely, properly
and efficiently. Observing the instructionsin thismanualhelpsto avoid dangers, reduce repaircostsand
down-times, and to increase the reliabilityand service life ofthe machine. Please also take note ofthe
section “Dangers, operating errors and exemption formliability”.
Thismanualisto be supplemented bythe respective nationalrulesand regulationsconcerning accident
prevention and environmentalprotection.
The operating manualmustalwaysbe availablewhereverthe machine isin use.
Thisoperating manualmustbe read andapplied byallpersonsinvolved with the machine, suchas:
•Operation, including setting up, troubleshooting during operations, care, disposaloffuelsand
consumables

In addition to thisoperating manualand the relevant mandatoryrulesand regulationsconcerning
accident prevention and environmentalprotection ofthe countryorregion inwhichthe machine isbeing

Limited Warranty Policy for New Spudnik Machinery
Spudnik Equipment Company LLC (“Spudnik”) warrants to the original purchaser each new Spudnik machine to be free from defects in material and
workmanship. Spudnik will repair or replace, at its option, any part covered by this warranty that is found to be defective during the warranty period
outlined below. Warranty service must be performed by an authorized dealer or representative of Spudnik. This warranty is applicable only for the
normal service life expectancy of the product or components, as noted in the following table. Once the warranty period has begun, it cannot be
stopped or interrupted.
What is included in the Spudnik Warranty:
Those items that are excluded from this warranty are as follows:
(1) any merchandise or components thereof, which, in the opinion of the company have been subject to: (a) Rock chip damage and other abuse to
painted surfaces, (b) damage caused by weather (to include UV damage), accident, or acts of God, (c) any product that has been altered or modified in
ways not approved by Spudnik Equipment Company LLC., (d) depreciation or damage caused by normal wear, lack of reasonable and proper
maintenance, misuse, failure to follow the product’s Operator Manual recommendations,(e) Using machine for other than normal moving of agricultural
products during planting, harvest, and processing seasons. Agricultural products to include: Potatoes, beets, onions, carrots, grains, etc., (2) Used
products, (3) Repairs made by unauthorized dealers.
To Obtain Warranty Service
To be eligible for the Spudnik warranty, purchaser must: (a) Have already remitted payment in full (b) have filled out and submitted the Spudnik
Delivery Declaration form to a Spudnik representative (c) report the product defect to an authorized dealer or Spudnik sales representative and
request repair within 30 days of noticing the defect and (d) make the product available to the dealer or service center within a reasonable period of
time, transportation charges prepaid.
The selling dealer has no authority to make any representation or promise on behalf of Spudnik, or to modify the terms or limitations of this warranty
in any way.

To the extent permitted by law, Spudnik does not make any warranty, representation, or promises express or implied as to the quality, performance,
or freedom from defect of any Spudnik New Machinery. NO IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS IS MADE. IN NO
EVENT WILL SPUDNIK, AN AUTHORIZED SPUDNIK DEALER, OR ANY COMPANY AFFILIATED WITH SPUDNIK BE LIABLE FOR
INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. This warranty is subject to any existing conditions of supply which may directly affect our ability to
obtain materials or manufacture replacement parts. Spudnik reserves the right to make improvements in design or changes in specifications at any
time, without incurring any obligation to owners of units previously sold. No one is authorized to alter, modify or enlarge this warranty nor the
exclusion, limitations and reservations.

Dangers, operating errorsand exemption from liability
1.No responsibilitywillbe accepted forpossible dangers arising fromoperating the machine in
a waywhich doesnot complywith itsdesignated use.
2.Damageto agriculturalproduce particularlyvulnerable to damageduring processing cannot
be entirelyruled out. Weatherconditions, the qualityofthe produce and manyother
circumstancesbeyond ourorthe operator’scontrolhave an influence on the vulnerabilityto
damage the produce being processed. Forexample, when processingthe submerged
weight, the manuring (nitrogen content), the degree ofmaturity(firmnessofthe skin), the
temperaturesduring processing and manyothercircumstancescan have an influence on
the vulnerabilityto damage. These examplesdo not claimto be exhaustive.
3.To avoid damageto agriculturalproduce the usermustadapt the machine to the respective
operating conditions.The resultsproduced bythe machine must be constantlymonitored
and checked.
4.SPUDNIKshallnot be liable foranydamage to agriculturalproduce and otheritemswhich
occurs asa result ofoperating and adjustment errors orotherincorrect usage.
5.SPUDNIKacceptsno liabilityforanydamage caused asa result ofoperators notcomplying
with the designated useofthe machine. Thisalso appliesto damage to agriculturalproduce
which, because of certain externalinfluences,cannotbe avoidedwith the current state of
the art.

Safety
Thisoperating manualcontainsbasicdirectionswhich should be observed during setting-up, operation and
maintenance. Therefore, thisoperating manualabsolutelymust beread bythe personnelconcerned priorto
starting up and using the machine, and must be available forthemat all times. Anyinstructionswhich are not
understood mustbe clarified before initialoperation ofthe machine, forclarification, please consultyour
SPUDNIKagent orcontactusdirectly.
Allsafetyinstructionsmustbe observed, both the generalsafetyinstructionsgiven here and thespecific
safetyinstructionsgiven elsewherein thismanual.
Observe the advice contained in the operating manualaswellasthe generallyapplicable safetyand accident
prevention regulations!
Ifsafetyinstructionsare notcomplied with, you riskinjurytoyourselfand othersaswellasdamage to the
environment orthe machine. Non-compliance with safetyinstructionscan also void claimsfordamages.

Qualification and trainingof personnel

up, maintenance and repairmust be clearlyestablished.
•Make sure that onlyauthorized personnelworkon orwith the machine.
•Define the machine operator’sresponsibilities–also with regard to observing trafficregulations. The operator
must have the authorityto refuse anyinstructionsissued bythird partieswhich contravene safety!
•Personsrequiring training orinstruction and thosein a generaltraining course, should not be allowed to work
on orwith the machine unless theyare underthe constant supervision ofanexperienced person.
•Workon the machine’selectricalsystemmayonlybe carried out byan electrician orbypersonsworking
underthe supervision and guidance ofan electrician; allsuch workmust becarried out in accordance with
electricalengineering regulations.
•Workon the wheels, braking and steering systemsmayonlybe performed byspeciallytrained personnel.
•Workon the hydraulicsystemmayonlybe carried out bypersonnelwith specialknowledge and experience
ofhydraulics.
•The use ofspare parts, accessoriesand auxiliaryequipment not supplied and/ornot approved bySPUDNIK
can have detrimentaleffecton the construction ofthe SPUDNIKmachine oron itsfunctionsand hence impair
the active and./orpassive driven an/oroperationalsafety(accident prevention).
•SPUDNIKshallnot be liable foranydamage caused bythe use ofparts, accessoriesand auxiliaryequipment
not supplied and/orapproved bySPUDNIK.
•Conversionsoformodificationsto the machine mayonlybe carried out afterconsultation with SPUDNIK.

Generalsafetyand accidentpreventionregulations
The safetyadvice and information given in thisoperating manual, the valid nationalregulations
concerning accident prevention and anyapplicable internalemployment, operationaland safety
regulationsofthe operatorare to be observed.
1.Warning signsand othernoticeson the machine provide importantinformation forsafe
operation. Observing themwillserveyoursafety.
2.Beforestarting work,makeyourselffamiliarwith all the equipment and controlsaswell
astheirfunctions.Todo sowhen you have alreadystarted workistoo late!
3.The usershould wearclose-fitting clothing. Avoid loose-fitting clothing!
4.Keep the machine clean to avoid the riskoffire!
5.Checkaround the machine beforemoving off orstarting up (watchout forchildren)!
Make sureyou have adequate all-around visibility.
6.Observe the respective regulationswhen using publicroads!
7.Onlystart up the machine when allguardsare attached and in theircorrect (protective)
position!
8.Stayclearofthe turning and pivoting areasofthe machine!
Non-observance of the safetyand accident prevention regulations entails the
following risks:
-Endangering the operatororothernearbypersonsasa result ofsafetydevicesnot being
fitted orbeing in theircorrect (protective)position!
-Damaging important machine functions!
-Errors when carrying out maintenance orrepairwork!
-Endangering the operatororothernearbypersonsthrough certainmechanicalor
chemicalpeculiarities!
-Riskofpollution due to leaks in the hydraulicsystem,fueltank,pipes, aswell asin the
engine and gearbox!

Electrical system, electronics
Use onlyoriginalfuseswiththe specified current rating! Switch offthe machine immediatelyifa fault
occurs in the electricalpowersupply.
Workon the electricalsystemorequipment mayonlybe carried out byan electrician, orbyspecially
instructed personnelunderthe controland supervision ofan electrician, and in accordance with the
applicable electricalengineering regulations.
The machine’selectricalequipment isto be inspectedand tested at regularintervals. Defectssuch as
loose connection orscorched cablesmust be rectified immediately.
The machine isfitted with electroniccomponentsand modules, the function ofwhich maybe influenced by
the electromagneticfieldsofotherequipment. Such interferencecan lead to potentiallydangerous
situationsifthe following safetyadvice isnot observed.
Ifelectricalorelectronicdevicesand/orcomponentsare retrofitted to the machine then it isthe
responsibilityofthe usertocheckwhethersuch installationsinterfere with the vehicle’selectronics or
othercomponents.
Thisparticularlyappliesto:
-Mobile telephones,
-Radio equipment.
In particular, the following conditionsmust also be satisfied ifmobile communicationssystems(e.g. radio,
telephone are to be installed subsequently:
-Onlyapproved devicescomplying with the relevant nationalregulationsmaybe installed.
-The device(s) mustforma permanentsinstallation.
-the operation ofportable ormobile devicesin the tractororonthe machine isonlypermitted via a
connection a a permanent externalaerial.
-The transmitterpartmust be installed separatelyfromthe vehicle electronics.
-Aproperlyinstalled aerialisto be fitted with a good earth connection between aerialand vehicle chassis.
The installation instructionsofthe machine manufacturerare also to be observed forthe wiring and fitting
aswellasthe maximumcurrent consumption.

Hydraulic system
1.The hydraulicsystemisunderhigh pressure!
2.Make sure that the hydraulic systemisdepressurized (tractorand machine)when connecting the
hydraulichosesto the tractor’shydraulicsystem.
3.Hydraulichose linesshould be inspected at regularintervalsand replaced ifdamaged orworn!New
hose linesmust complywith the technicalspecificationofthe machine manufacturer!Hosesand
hose couplingsundergo a naturalageing process,even ifstored and used correctly; therefore, their
period ofstorage and use islimited. The service life ofa hosemaydeviate fromthesefiguresif
experience hasshown thisto be the case, in particulartaking into account the potentialdanger.
4.Fluidsescaping underhigh pressure (hydraulicoil)can penetrate the skin and cause serious
injuries!Ifsuch injuriesoccur, call a doctorimmediately!Riskofinfection!
5.Lowerthe machine, depressurize the systemand switch offthe engine before working on the
hydraulicsystem!
6.Take care when working on the hydraulicsystem. Hot hydraulicoilcan causeseriousburns!Let the
hydraulicsystemcooldownbeforehand and weargloves!Collect and dispose ofold oilin
accordance with the regulations!

1. Makesuremain disconnect and All switchesare “OFF”
2. Lookat the voltage labelon the controlpanel. Makesure thevoltage fromthe machine it isattached to, is
the sameastheChain Pup voltage. (Anyquestionsplease callyournearest service center.)
3. Lookand make surethateverything isout ofthe way.
4. Plug Chain Pup in and Turn main disconnect “ON”.
5. Forphasing, it isimportant to push the Chain Pup belt switch momentarily, to insure correct direction of
the belt.

Maintenance
General safetyinstructions
Regularmaintenance is a prerequisite foroperational reliability. The followingsafety
advice is to be observedduring anymaintenance, cleaning orrepairwork.
To prevent accidents,all relevant rulesand regulationsconcerning safe and
competent working must beobserved!
•Observe the adjustment, maintenance andinspection activitiesand intervalsspecified in thisoperating
manual, including detailsconcerning the replacement ofparts, subassembliesand equipment. These activities
mayonlybe executed bytrained personnel.
•Instruct operating personnelbefore beginning specialoperationsand maintenancework!Delegate a
supervisor!
•Alwaysobserve the relevant safetymeasuresandinstructionsspecified in the operating manualwhen
carrying out workrelated to the operation, adaptation, conversion oradjustment ofthe machine aswellas
maintenance, inspection and repairactivities.
•Ensure the working area isadequatelysecured during the maintenancework!
•Use suitable, tested toolswhen working on the machine. Weargloves!
•Switch offthe machine completelybefore maintenanceand repairworkand ensurethat it issecured against
inadvertent starting. The machine must not be switched on again while the workisbeing carried out!
-Switch offoperating facilities.
-In the case oftractors,self-propelled harvesting machinesand engine-driven machines, switch off the
engine, remove the ignition keyand, ifnecessary,lockthe cabin. Nobodyisallowed to be within reach ofthe
controlsso thatfunctionscannot be switched on againbyaccident.
-Switch offthe main switch and attach a warning sign, ifnecessary.
-Disconnect the machine fromthe powersupply.Depressurize the hydraulicsystemand compressed airlines
and disconnect themfromthe supply.
•Carryout maintenanceand repairworkonlywhen the machine ispositioned on firmand levelground and
hasbeensecured against inadvertent movement and toppling.
•When replacing individualpartsand largersubassemblies, theyshould be carefullyattachedto lifting gear
and secured againstfalling down. To avoid the riskofaccidents, sharp edges, corners and dangerous
projectionsmust be covered and a warning sign attached. Use onlysuitable hoisting and lifting gearwith
adequate load capacitywhich isin a properworking condition. Neverworkorstand undersuspended loads!
•The securing ofloadsand the instruction ofcraneoperators should onlybe entrusted to experienced
persons. Asignalergiving instructionsmust be within sight ofthe crane operatorand must be provided with a
radio link.
•Onlycarryout overhead assemblyworkusing suitable ladders andplatforms. Neverclimb on the machine
itself!Weara safetyharness when carrying out maintenance workat greaterheights.
•Keep all handles, steps, handrails, platforms, landingsand ladders free fromdirt, snowand ice.

Maintenance
•Clean the machine, especiallyconnectionsand threaded unionsofanytracesofoil, fuelor
preservativesbefore carrying out maintenance/repairs. Neveruseaggressive detergents. Use lint-free
cleaning cloths.
•Beforecleaning the machine with waterorsteamjets(high-pressure cleaners) orothercleaning
agents,coverortape all openingswhich –forsafetyand operationalreasons-must be protected
against ingress ofwater, steamorleaning agents. Specialcare must be taken withelectricmotorsand
switching cabinets, aswellasall additionalelectricalorelectroniccomponents. Aftercleaning, remove
all covers and tape completely.
•Aftercleaning, examine all fuel, lubricant and hydraulicoil linesforleaks, loose connections, scuffing
marks and damage. Anydefectsfound must be rectified without delay.
•Immediatelyretighten anyscrewed connectionsthat have been unscrewed during maintenance and
repairs.
•Anysafetydevicesremoved forsetting-up, maintenance orrepairpurposesmustbe refitted and
checked immediatelyupon completion ofthe maintenance and repairwork.
•Ensure that all fuels, consumablesand replaced partsare disposed ofsafelyand with minimum
environmentalimpact.

When replacing electricalorhydraulicparts, ensurethat onlyoriginalSPUDNIKspare
partsare used. The use ofnon-SPUDNIKpartscan causemalfunctioning ofthe machine.

-Replaced partswhich still function should be cleaned and storedin an orderlymanner.
-Machine partswhich cannot be repaired should onlybedisposed ofat appropriate
collecting pointsorbe collected bya scrap metaldealer.

thoroughlyinside and outside. Non-observance of the instructions can
leadto malfunctions orprematurewear. Inthis case the usercarries
sole responsibilityforanydamage whichoccurs.
Toensure the operationalreliabilityof the machine, prevent accidents
and avoid, damage, remove dirt, deposits and inflammable materials
from the machine on a dailybasis!
Onlycarryout cleaning work whenthe engine is switchedoff!
Remove the ignition key!
Secure the machine againstrolling away!
Protectthe electrical systemfrom moisture and dirt. This particularly
applies whencleaning high pressure cleaning equipment.

Cleaning with high-pressure cleaning equipment
Clean the machine thoroughly,inside and outside. Dirtattractsmoisture and leadsto
corrosion. The following advice should be adhered to when using high-pressure
cleaning equipment to wash down the machine:
Cleaning instructions:
During the first sixweeksdo not wash down the machine with high-pressure cleaning
equipment.
Thereafter:
-Do not direct the jet ofwaterat bearings.
-Do not direct the cleaning jet towardselectrical/electroniccomponents.
-Onlyuse a wide-jet nozzle; machine nozzle clearance to be min. 2ft (600 mm).
-Alwayskeep the wide-jet nozzle moving fromside to side.
-Nozzle spraying angle min. 25degrees.
-Spraying pressure max. 1450 psi.
-Watertemperaturemax. 68 degreesFahrenheit.
-Do not use anycleaning additives.
