Congratulations! You have just purchased a Grass Head JF 1300 S2 which is simple to
operateandmaintain.ItwasmanufacturedbyJFMáquinasAgrícolasLtdaanditisperfectfor
producingsilageordailydealingwithanimals.
TheTechnicalDeliveryisoneofoureffortstoassuretheequipmentwillbedeliveredinperfect
conditions and that all instructions in the sub item Checklist “Technical Delivery Receipt” are
alsopassedbytheSalesRepresentativetoUsers.
We thank you for choosing a machine that is proper for meeting your needs in addition to
beingproducedbyacompanythataimsitsproductspermanentimprovement.
This Manual provides information regarding proper Operation and Preventive Maintenance,
as well as the procedure to contact Technical Assistance, if necessary. Therefore, before
operating the machine for the first time, please, read the safety instructions and all further
informationfoundinthisManual.

When seating the screws presented in this manual, use torques and keys present

7- Do not allow children or other people to get close to
themachinewhenitisinoperationorinmovement.
8- Be aware of the correct operation and maintenance
ofthemachine.Beforeusingitthefirsttime,presentthis
guideandinstructthepeopleinvolved.
9-Always keep your equipment in perfect preservating
conditions.
10- Make the machine coupling on a flat and even
place, because that turns the procedure easier and
safer.
11- In narrow passages, make sure there is enough
widthtopasswithoutinterference.
12-Useonlytractorsdulydimensionedforthemachine.
13-Neverremovethedecalsfromthemachine.
6- Never allow unskilled people to operate
themachineorthetractor.
5- Loose clothes or long hair might caught by moving
mechanisms. Therefore, never get close to operate the
machineinsuchconditions.
14- Only remove the shields and
protecting covers if it’s required for
maintenance. Never work the machine
withoutthem.
15- Always operate with the correct PTO
speed (540 rpm). The excessive rotation
presentsriskstotheirsafety.
When operating the machine:
1-Avoidgrease,oilordustbuilding-uponthemachine.
2-Neverfeedtheequipmentmanually.
3- Never attempt to adjust or repair
components with the machine in
movement.
4- Do not start the equipment without the
protectingcoversorstructures.

16- When working on slopes, take the following
precautions to maintain the firmness and stability to the
tractor:
ŸUsethecorrectballastingthetractor;
ŸPractice speed compatible in every situation. On
downhills, always use the gear that would be used to
climb.Attachthebrakepedal;
ŸDo not move the tractor toward the uphill side, but in
ordertomoveupordown.
17- Always use the IPE (Individual Protection
Equipment)whenoperatingthemachine:
1-Gloves;
2-Auricularprotection;
3-Glasses;
4-Boots;
5-Appropriatedclothes.
Warning:
Whenever there is an instruction manual
instructing the operator to turn off the
machine and disengage the tractor PTO,
the PTO procedure for replacement and
reconnectingofthemachineshouldoccur
onlyattheendoftheoperation.

Refer to the traffic department for regulations and laws in your region about the
possibilityoftransportingthemachinewiththetractor on certain parts of the roads.
Requestguidance,authorizationsandwrittenprocedures.
Displacethetractorincompatiblespeedsaccordingthegroundorstreets.
Transport on truck
Whenever you have to transport the machine for longer distances, when there is need for
usingpublicroads,thetransportmustbedoneontruckortrailer.
The harvester must be fully inside the body of the truck or trailer that carries it, attached by
cordsorcables.
Note:Lowerthechuteaccordingpicturebelow.
When making maintenance in the machine:
1-Machinemustbeturnedoffforanytypeofmaintenance;
2- Observe the rights types and amounts of the recommended lubricants to
lubricatethedifferentcomponents.
Transport on roads and streets
Do not transport the machine with the tractor on roads and streets. Such practice
mustbelimitedtoinsidethefarmpropertiesandruralzones.

Transport with tow car or piler
When you need to handle the machine when it still in the box, always proceeds from the
correctwayusingapiler,neverraisestheboxusinglifterandderricks.
When you need to handle the machine when it is outside the box, do it with adjusted lifters,
fixingcorrectlyinthepointsindicatedonthefigurebelow.

2.1- Safety labels
Do not use the driveshaft without safety
protection and shielding. Keep your
distance while it is operating. Touching
the moving driveshaft can cause a
seriousaccident.
Donot open orremovecoversandsafety
shields on the machine while operating.
Keep the hands away from gears, belts
and other moving parts, as their
movement can catch them and cause
injuries,
Warning to keep away from collectors
rollers while the machine is on. Major
accidenthazard.
Safety recommendation adhesive,
warning not to get on site as there is risk
ofaccidents.
Do not let your hand or feet approach the
drums unless you are certain they are
completely motionless. Contact with the
movingdiscscancauseseriousinjury.
Keep a safe distance from the distance
while being operated as to avoid any risk
ofinjury from any objectsthrownfromthe
discs.

3.3 - Running
Whenever the terms “rigth” and “left” are used, it is considered the tractor’s
operatingcabasreferencepoint.
TheGrassHeadJF1300S2wasdevelopedtoharvestandcollectgrass.
While the machine goes, the grass passes thought the protective cover (1), and is cut by the
cuttingdiscs(2),andimmediatelytotherollsoftheharvesterforageharvesters(3).
From this point of the functions ate performed by harvesting forage harvester attached to the
platformwhichiscoupled,asdescribedinit’smanual.

4 - Preparation of the machine
4.1 - Coupling - pulleys and belts version
Themachine must beturned off whenyou are goingto couplethe JF 1300 S2
withtheforageharvester.
a) Remove the rotor puley 5 channels - (Figure 1) and
placethepulley8channel(Figure2).
b)Afterplacingthepulley8channels,tightenthescrew
asinternal(Figure3).
c)Tightenthebolt.

d) After following the 3rd step, remove the aligners and
install the pins 1 and 2 on the platform harvester,
accordingtotheFigure4.
e) Fit the points 3 and 4 of JF 1300 S2 in 1 and 2 of the
harvester(Figure5).
f) Tighten the screws on the right of the platform,
indicatedwith1and2asFigure6.
g) Tighten the screws on the left side of the platform,
indicatedwith3and4asFigure7.

When you finish the coupling, make sure
toputbackalltheprotectioncovers.

h) Tighten the screws on the top side of the platform,
indicatedwith5,6and7asFigure8.
i) Reinstall the belt forage harvester using the first 5
channels of the rotor and pulley belt JF 1300 S2 using
the last three channels of the same pulley, according to
theFigure9.
j) Make sure align both pulleys, preventing the release
ofthebelts.

4.2 - Coupling - cardan shaft version
The machine must be turned off when you are going to couple the JF 1300 S2
withtheForageHarvester.

a) Take off the alligners of the Forage Harvester, and
install the pins 1 and 2 in harvester platform as
(Figure1).
b)Fitthepoints3and4ofyourJF1300S2inthepins1
and2inharvesterplatformas(Figure2).
c) Tighten the screws on the right side of the platform,
indicatedwith1and2as(Figure3).
d) Tighten the screws on the left side of the platform,
indicatedwith3and4as(Figure4).

When you finish the coupling, make sure
toputbackalltheprotectioncovers.
e) Tighten the screws on the top side of the platform,
indicatedwith5,6and7as(Figure5).
f) Connect the cardan shaft between the rotor of the
forageharvesterwiththepulleyplatformJF1300S2.
g) Check the alignment of the pulleys, and turn the bolt
tostrainthebelts.
h)Putbacktheprotectioncovers.

5 - Adjustments to start operating
5.1 - PTO speed
During operation, the PTO speed must be
constantat540rpm.
Check the forage harvester operational
manualformoreinformation.
PTORotation
5.2 - Harvest ground speed
Tractor correct moving speed is one of the factors that directly influences the machine
productionandthetrituratedfodderquality.
The speed will vary during a work day, because it depends of the size of the culture, the
tractor’s power and the land conditions, so, the operator must decide the best speed of the
harvester.
The machine must have the best productivity, in order to diminish the surplus of the material,
withoutcompromisingitsfunctioning.
EnginespeedmustbesuchthatthePTOspeediscorrect:540rpm.
Checkifyourtractorhasadecal,showingatableoragraphicscalethatinformsthespeedfor
anyrotationineachgear.Ifyoudon’tfindit,checkyourtractor’smanual.
