TheDisplayModuleconsistsofananaloguetachometerandadigitaldisplaypanelmountedinacompositehousing.Thereareavarietyof
dialfacesavailablefortheproduct.The0-10-22000dialfaceusedinthismanualisjustanexample.
TheDisplayModuleisconnectedtothesensorsbyawiringharness.Thewiringharnesshasa19-waymilitaryconnectorforconnection
totheDisplayModule.

Turning the Display System on
Thepowerswitchisontheleftrearofthedisplayunit.
Whenthepowerisfirstswitchedon,thedigitaldisplaywillimmediatelyshowLayer1displaylayout.Thetachometerwillresetitself
bymovingtheneedleuntilittouchesthestop-pin,andthenmovingitbacktothezeroRPMposition.PressSwitch2toclearany
warningmessagefromthedisplay.Ifnoneoftheseactionsoccurswhenyouswitchon,switchoffthepowertothesystemand
consultthesectionontroubleshootinginthismanual.
Anytimetheunitispoweredupformorethan10secondswithouttheenginerunning,thenthedisplaywillshowthemessage
Thisensuressecurityofyourlaptimeinformation.Pressswitch2toreturnthesystemtothenormaldisplayformat.
Warning lights
TheDash-2KartLoggerhastwobuilt-inwarninglights.Theredoneontherightisthegear-shiftlightandthelefthandyellowoneis
forwarningthedriverthatanalarmhasbeentriggered.
Changing the display layers
Thedigitaldisplaycanshowthreeseparatesetsofparametersandtheirvalues1;thesearecalleddisplaylayers1,2,and3.
IfyouhavethePerformanceMeterorCornerSpeedoptionthereareadditionallayers,layer4and5respectively.
Eachofthedisplaylayerscanbedisplayedinturnbypressingswitch2.

Peak Values (Tell Tales)
Thesystemcandisplaythepeakvalues(sometimescalled‘tell-tales’)thathavebeenrecordedduringarunformostofthemonitored
parameters.
Peakvaluesareupdatedonlywhentheenginespeedhasexceededits"gatevalue"forRPMfor at least one second.Thisallowsthe
valuestostabilise.Blippingtheenginemaynotbeenoughtoupdatethepeakvalues.ThegatevalueisapredefinedRPMvaluethatis
usedtocontrolwhenthesystemupdatesthepeakvalues.Thisistopreventabnormalpeakvaluesfrombeingrecordedwhen,for
example,theengineiseithernotrunning,isidling,orisbeingwarmedup.
Thesystemstoreseitheramaximumoraminimumvalueasthepeakvalue,dependingontheparameter.
Displaying the Peak Values
PressandholdSwitch 1toshowthepeakvaluesfortheparameterscurrentlybeingdisplayed.Releasetheswitchtoreturntothe
normaldisplay.
Resetting the Display
Youcanresetallofthepeakvalues,includingthefastestlaptimeandLapCountmanually.Allpeakvaluesareresetatthesametime.If
theengineisrunning at or aboveitsgatevaluewhenthepeakvaluesarereset,theyaresettothecurrentvalueofeach
performanceparameter.

externalpowersourceisdisconnectedfromthesystem.Theinternalbatteryneedstobechangedevery4-5years.Analarmis
triggeredwhenthepowerfromthisbatterydropsbelowasafelevelandthewarning"MEMBATT"isdisplayed.
Alarms
TheDash-2KartLoggerhasbuilt-inwarningstoalertthedriverwhencertainparameterseitherexceedorfallbelowtheiralarm
valuesYoucanadjustthepresetalarmlevelswhenyouconfiguretheDash-2KartLogger.SeeSection4,Configuring the Dash-2
Kart Loggerinthismanual.
Someofthewarnings(seethefollowingtable)aretriggeredonlywhiletheenginespeedexceedsits"gatevalue"forRPMforatleast
onesecond.Blippingtheenginemaynotbeenoughtotriggerawarning.ThegatevalueisapredefinedRPMvaluethatisusedtocontrol
whenthesystemistotriggerawarning.Thisistopreventabnormalwarningsfrombeingtriggeredwhen,forexample,theengineis
eithernotrunning,isidling,orisbeingwarmedup.
TheDash-2KartLoggerhasthefollowingbuilt-inalarms:
