Overview
The STANLEY Healthcare T2s Tag is a component of our enterprise-level visibility
solution based on standard Wi-Fi communication for location-based applications.
These battery-powered tags can be worn by patients and staff or attached to a
variety of assets, such as medical devices. This enables patients, staff and assets to be
accurately located in real-time and in any environment – from tight indoor locations
such as hospital floors to open outdoor spaces such as parking lots. In addition, the
tag can be used for immediate choke-point detection, room and bay level location,
call-button alerting, motion sensing and more.
T2s Tag messages are received and processed by standard Wi-Fi infrastructure keeping
infrastructure costs low and installation simple. As with all our tags, location is
determined through a unique beaconing method that keeps network impact low and
ensures scalability and long battery life.
T2s Tags come with a Call Button and an optional embedded Ultrasound receiver.

T2s Tag Features
Mo tio n Se nsing
T2s Tags contain on-board motion sensors. The motion sensor can be configured to
trigger alerts. It can also enable different transmission intervals for tags when they
are stationary or in motion – which reduces unnecessary network traffic and
conserves battery life.
C a ll Button Func tiona lity
The tag’s call button allows you to define alerts according to button presses – such as
a patient distress call or a staff duress situation requiring immediate assistance or
attention. Multiple messages can be set up using different button press patterns.
Ultra sound Re c e ive r
The T2s Tag can optionally be equipped with an ultrasound receiver that picks up
transmissions from ultrasound Exciters. The tag transmits the Exciter ID over the Wi-Fi
network. The tag is equipped with a proprietary dilution algorithm that extends
battery life. For best performance of the ultrasound solution, make sure the receiver
on the tag is clearly visible for receiving ultrasound signals from the Exciters. An
ultrasound receiver that is covered affects the tag’s ability to receive signals, thus
decreasing location accuracy.

T2s Tags are designed to be worn by patients using a wrist strap, attached to staff
members using a T2s Staff Badge Cradle or mounted to assets using a T2s Asset Tag
Cradle. Additionally the tags can be attached to a sigma pump using a special sigma
pump mounting bracket together with a T2s Asset Tag Cradle.
Long Ba tte ry Life
The T2s Tag has a single replaceable battery that can provide power for up to 2 years
(depending on use case). The tag is able to report its battery level, which is displayed
in MobileView. The T2s Tag can also be easily deactivated in order to conserve battery
power.
In addition, to prevent battery drainage and extend battery life as much as possible,
tags leave the factory in a Dormant status. To prevent activating them inadvertently,
dormant tags react only to a TED device or the Tag Activator's Exit Dormant
command, after which tags can then be configured and activated.

Ba tte ry Life Pre dic tion a nd A na lysis
Tags are configured with counters that retain the number of times a tag undergoes
different events, such as the number of transmissions or the number of LF triggers,
thus forming a profile of the tag's behavior. Based on those statistics, the system
constantly delivers updated estimates of the battery life expectancy and the tag's
behavior can be analyzed.

This feature is supported from FW version 4A5 or higher.
Ta g Ma na g e m e nt
Tags are easily configured and activated, wirelessly, using the Tag Manager
Application together with a Tag Activator or TED device, which are part of the
Hardware Manager Kit (see Tag Accessories).
Ta g Pro g ra m m a bility a nd Sto ra g e
The T2s Tag can store up to 15 messages of 15 bytes each. These messages can either
be pre-programmed via the Tag Manager Application or programmed on the fly by
an Exciter, when a tag is in close proximity to it. These messages can also be
transmitted in addition to the standard location messages (the tags can be either
configured to transmit one of the messages or triggered by an Exciter to transmit a
specific message).

Tags are 802.11 compatible. The tag’s clear channel sensing techniques avoid
interference with Wi-Fi networks. The use of the unlicensed 2.4GHz frequency band
at low power minimizes interference with other wireless equipment, making the tags
safe for use with sensitive equipment, such as medical devices in a hospital.

The T2s Tag passes STANLEY’s internal testing to IP-67 preventing dust ingress, and
withstanding water immersion up to 1 meter (3 feet).

Tag Attachment and Mounting Options
The T2s Tag is enclosed in a compact case and offers a variety of attachment and
mounting options. The tags can be worn by patients using a wrist strap, attached to
staff members and other personnel using a T2s Staff Badge Cradle, mounted to assets
using a T2s Asset Tag Cradle or attached to a sigma pump using a special sigma pump
mounting bracket.
N o t e
The following applies to T2s Tags with ultrasound:
•Make sure that the receiver holes on the front cover of the tag
are uncovered.
•Avoid placing the tag where it can be constantly knocked by a
metal or plastic object, such as a staff ID badge. Failing to do so
may cause a disruption in the Ultrasound reception.
Using a Wrist Strap
Wrist straps are optional accessories used to strap the tag around a patient’s wrist.

Using the T2s Staff Badge Cradle
The T2s Staff Badge Cradle is used to attach the tag to staff members’ shirts or scrubs.
The cradle kit is supplied with a vinyl and plastic clip and integrates seamlessly with a
personal identification badge and/or a retractable reel. The cradle also helps to
reduce tag flipping and reduces ultrasound reception blockage if the tag does flip.

Inserting the Tag into the Staff Cradle
1. Make sure the cradle’s clip is at the bottom (1).
2. Insert the tag into the cradle at an angle, from the top (2), and press the tag
down until it clicks into place (3).
Removing the Tag from the Staff Cradle
1. Hold the cradle and press the cradle’s clip down until the tag unlocks (1).
2. Remove the tag from the cradle (2).

Attaching the Vinyl Clip to the Staff Cradle
1. Make sure the tag is not in the cradle.
2. Hold the cradle with the STANLEY Healthcare text facing you, with the cradle clip
at the bottom (1).
3. Hold the vinyl clip with the clip head facing backwards (2).
4. Insert the vinyl clip through the cradle’s flange opening from the top (3).
5. Close the vinyl clip (4).
6. Insert the tag. See Inserting the Tag into the Staff Cradle.
7. The cradle with tag can now be clipped to a shirt collar or pocket (5).

Attaching the Plastic Clip to the Staff Cradle
1. Make sure the tag is not in the cradle.
2. Hold the cradle (1) and plastic clip (2) with the STANLEY Healthcare text facing
you, with the clips pointing downwards.
3. Place the plastic clip over the top of the cradle (3).
4. Press the plastic clip’s clip in and down (4) through the cradle’s opening, and slide
the plastic clip down (5) until it clicks into place (6).
5. Insert the tag. See Inserting the Tag into the Staff Cradle.
6. The cradle with tag can now be attached to a pocket or scrubs (7).

Detaching the Plastic Clip from the Cradle
Remove the tag from the cradle before detaching the plastic clip. See Removing the
Tag from the Staff Cradle.
•Hold the cradle and using a pen, or any other similar object, press the plastic clip’s
clip in (1) and push the plastic clip up (2).
Inserting an ID Card
1. Remove the tag from the cradle.
2. Place the cradles bottom clip through the ID card’s hole (1).
3. Insert the tag until it clicks into place (2).

1. Remove the tag from the cradle.
2. Place the cradle’s bottom clip through the retractable reel’s flange opening (1).
3. Insert the tag until it clicks into place (2).

Using the T2s Asset Tag Cradle
The T2s Asset Tag Cradle allows you to mount the tag to assets using screws, tie-
wraps, velcro or adhesives. Tie wraps can be also be used to secure the tag to the
cradle, if required.
N o t e
The following applies to T2s Tags with ultrasound:
•Make sure tags are firmly mounted to assets.
•Make sure that the microphone on the front cover of the tag is
uncovered at all times.
•Avoid placing the tag where it can be constantly knocked by
metal or plastic objects. Failing to do so may cause a disruption
with the ultrasound signal.
WARNING: Do NOT apply any form of adhesive, such as double sided
tape, directly to the back of the tag when mounting. Doing so will
cause the tag to detach from its mounted position.
If a form of adhesive must be used, it is recommended to use adhesive
only with the T2s Asset Tag Cradle. See Mounting the Asset Cradle
using Adhesives or Velcro.

1. Make sure the cradle’s clip is at the top (1).
2. Insert the tag into the cradle at an angle, from the bottom (2), and press the tag
in (3) until it clicks into place (4).

1. Hold the cradle and place your finger or thumb on the edge of the cradle’s flange
clip (1).
2. Gently open the flange clip (2) until the tag clicks out of place and then remove
the tag (3).

Mounting the Asset Cradle using Tie Wraps
Tie wraps can be used to mount assets to objects that are either narrow in width, such
as a scope cable, or objects that are slightly wider in width, such as pole. Long or
short tie wraps can be used.
1. Make sure the tag is not in the cradle.
2. Decide which tie wrap openings to use, according the objects width.
3. Using either two (2) short or long tie wraps, thread each tie wrap through the
required tie wrap openings.
4. Mount the cradle to the asset and cut the tie wraps excess.
5. Insert the tag. See Inserting the Tag into the Asset Cradle.

Mounting the Asset Cradle using Adhesives or Velcro
The T2s Asset Tag Cradle can be mounted to an asset or surface by using adhesives,
such as double-sided tape or velcro. You can insert the tag into the cradle before or
after applying adhesives or velcro to the cradle.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE MOUNTING:
•The mounting surface must be thoroughly cleaned and the
surface MUST be dry.
•Only mount on flat surfaces.
•Avoid mounting on rough surfaces.
•When using adhesives (TAC-031), the bond strength will
increase over time.
At room temperature approximately 50% of
ultimate bond strength will be achieved after 20 minutes, 90%
after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours. It is therefore
recommended not to use or clean any new tagged asset for at
least 72 hours.
1. Apply double-sided tape or velcro to the back of the cradle only and press and
hold the sticker for at least 20 seconds.
2. If using double-sided tape, mount the cradle with tag firmly to the asset or
surface and press and hold the cradle in place for at least 20 seconds.
If using velcro, apply the other velcro strip the asset or surface and firmly mount
the cradle with tag to the velcro strip.

Mounting the Asset Cradle Using Screws
The cradle can be mounted to an asset or surface by using the cradle screw kit.
1. Make sure the tag is not in the cradle.
2. Place and hold the empty cradle firmly on an asset or surface.
3. Screw two (2) screws from the cradle screw kit through the cradle’s screw holes.
4. Insert the tag into the cradle. See Inserting the Tag into the Asset Cradle.
