3. Appliance description
The device is responsible for the processes that control and regu-
late the heat pump. The appliance allows remote monitoring and
heating system control via the internet.
If several heat demands are present at the same time, the appli-
ance switches back and forth between them. If a booster heater
is activated, DHW heating can run at the same time as the heating
mode and swimming pool heating.
3.1 Accessories
The following accessories can be installed for additional control
of the heat pump.

Note
If the heat pump needs to be restarted, the symbol is
shown on the device.
Note
Some setting options are only available in safe mode.
Once you have entered the access code, it does not need
to be re-entered for eight hours. The remaining time is
displayed top left of the screen.
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button to access safe mode.
 Enter the following access code: 607080
 Confirm the selection.

5.2 Setting date and time
Note
The primary heat pump transfers the date and time set-
tings to the secondary heat pumps.
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button.
 Press the "System settings" menu.
 Press the "Date/time" menu.
 Make the required changes.
 Confirm the selection.
 Press the button to return to the higher ranking
menu.

5.3 Network connection
Note
 Please note that, for example, firewalls and faulty
connections may cause problems that prevent full
functionality.
 If problems occur, contact your internet provider or
network administrator.
The device can be used to monitor the heating system via the
internet. For monitoring, you will need an internet connection,
a router and the Internet Service Gateway (ISG). Observe the ISG
operating and installation instructions. When using the ISG, use
the static IP address.
5.3.1 Connecting to the internet
 Connect a patch cable to the RJ45 connector (see chapter
"Commissioning / Connecting to the internet" in the operat-
ing and installation instructions for the heat pump).
5.3.2 Network settings
Note
 If multiple heat pumps are installed, the network
settings must be entered separately for each heat
pump.
Note
 If settings are required on a router or other network
component, contact the network administrator.
The connection can be established via DHCP or a static IP address.
Ensure that you select the same connection for all heat pumps.
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button.
 Select the "System settings" menu.
 Select the "Network settings" menu.

Note
 Use dynamic assignment of the network address if
the heat pump is integrated in a network.
 Select the required connection type.
 Enter the required information in the corresponding
fields.
 Press the button to return to the higher ranking
menu.

Connection via a static IP address
Note
 Use static assignment of the network address if the
heat pump is not integrated in a network.
Note
The router is only needed for setup via an external net-
work connection and for multiple secondary heat pumps.
Note
 Do not change the setting in the network mask
(255.255.255.0).
 Select the required connection type.
 Enter the required information in the corresponding
fields.
 Confirm the selection.
 Press the button to return to the higher ranking
menu.

5.4 Commissioning cascades
Note
Only one heat pump can be defined as the primary heat
pump in the heating system.
Note
 If you install a cascade without a switch or hub,
set the same network mask on the secondary heat
pumps as on the primary heat pump.
 Restart the primary heat pump.
 Restart the secondary heat pumps.
5.4.1 Setting up the primary and secondary heat pump
Note
When connecting heat pumps of a different series, ob-
serve the instructions regarding the "Settings"/ "Cascade
control" menu.
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button.
 Select the "Installation" menu.
 Activate cascade control.
 Press the button to return to the higher ranking
menu.
 Tap the button to access the "Cascade control" menu.
 Select the "Cascade control" menu on the primary
heat pump.
 Set the slide toggle to "Master=1".
 Make the required settings.
 Confirm the selection.
 Select the "Cascade control" menu on the secondary
heat pump.
 Set the slide toggle to "Slave=0".
 Assign a heat pump ID ≥1 to the secondary heat
pump. Assign IDs in chronological order for further
secondary heat pumps.
 Make the required settings.
 Confirm the selection.
 Follow the same sequence for additional secondary
heat pumps.
 Press the button to return to the main menu.
 Press the button.
 Restart the primary heat pump.
 Restart the secondary heat pumps.
If there is communication between the primary and secondary
heat pump, the heat pump ID is displayed on the secondary heat
pump screen.
Example: Without external network connection (for cascades
with only one secondary heat pump)
Note
Monitoring via the internet is not possible.
 If you want to set up monitoring via the internet,
observe the example "With external network con-
nection (for cascades with one or more secondary
heat pumps)".
 Use an Ethernet cable (Standard Cat 5 network cable, RJ45
connector).
 Connect the heat pumps via the connection on the program-
ming unit. Observe chapter "Installation/ Removing the cas-
ing parts" in the operating and installation instructions for
the heat pump.

5.4.2 Messages
If one of the following messages appears, the primary heat pump
will no longer control the corresponding secondary heat pump for
the duration of the message.

5.4.3 Defining the operating mode
For each heat pump, you need to define which heat pump is ena-
bled for which heat demand. The heat pumps can be enabled for
heating mode, DHW heating, swimming pool heating and cooling.
 Activate the required functions in the "Installation" menu.
The functions can be managed in the "Settings" menu.
Example: Enable heating mode
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button.
 Select the "Installation" menu.
 Activate heating mode.
 Press the button to return to the higher ranking
menu.

5.5 Manual test
Note
 Observe the chapter "Commissioning/ Manual test
of connected components" in the operating and in-
stallation instructions for the heat pump.
Note
A hand is displayed when the manual test is activated.
5.5.1 Activate manual test
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button.
 Tap the button to access the "Manual test" menu.
 Press the "Manual test" menu.
 Activate the function.
 Select the required test in the submenu.
5.5.2 End manual test
 Press the button on the start screen to open the main
menu.
 Press the button.
 Tap the button to access the "Manual test" menu.
 Press the "Manual test" menu.
 Deactivate the function.
6. Controller menu
Note
Some setting options are only available in safe mode.

The internet connection can be established via DHCP or a static
IP address.
 Make the required settings. Observe the description in the

 Set the current date and current time.
Display settings
Activate screen cleaning function
The display is locked for 15seconds. During this time you can
clean the display without making any unintentional adjustments.
Brightness
 Set the required brightness of the display backlighting.
Enable locked operation
 Activate or deactivate the function.
Activate locked operation
Can only be activated if "Enable locked operation" is activated.
Logging
Note
 Do not adjust the time during logging.
The controller allows you to export log files that can be read on a
computer. When logging is running, the data is recorded directly
onto the USB stick and not on the internal memory. Older data is
not displaced.
 Insert a USB stick into the USB port.
 Activate the "Logging" function. Logging starts.
 If the menu cannot be activated, remove the USB stick. Re-
turn to the menu. Insert the USB stick into the USB port.
 If the menu still cannot be activated, replace the USB stick.
 If you want to terminate logging, deactivate the "Logging"
function.
A message appears when logging has finished.
 Remove the USB stick.

stalled in the heating system.
Building management system (BMS)
 Activate or deactivate the function.
If the function is activated, communication with the ISG can take
place.

When the function is activated, the settings made apply to the cor-
responding heating circuit. The corresponding symbol appears in

used to control the heating circuit.
Booster heater
 Choose the module via which the function is connected.
Hot gas
 Activate or deactivate the function.
When the function is activated, hot gas can be used for DHW
heating.
Current limiter
 Activate or deactivate the function.
Brine monitoring
 Activate or deactivate the function.
When the function is activated, the device controls the brine tem-
perature.
External brine pump
 Choose the module via which the function is connected.
Brine pump external start
 Activate or deactivate the function.
Buffer cylinder
 Activate or deactivate the function.
When the function is activated, there is a buffer cylinder in the
heating system.
 If the buffer cylinder is to be charged with a certain tempera-
ture, install a buffer sensor.
Flow switch
Note
If no flow switch is connected, but the function is activat-
ed, the heat pump will not start.
Note
Several flow switches can be used in cascades.
 Activate or deactivate the function.
Central fault
 Activate or deactivate the function.
External alarm
 Activate or deactivate the function.
When this function is activated, an external fault is registered.
SMART GRID
 Activate or deactivate the function.
"SG Ready" is a trademark of the Bundesverband
Wärmepumpe e.V. (German Heat Pump Association)
and denotes a property of heat pumps whose control
technology enables them to be integrated into a smart
power grid (SG = Smart Grid).
