General information
Before use, both the user instruction and those for the half mask, the breathing hose and the filters must be
carefully studied.
The SR 905 is a remote filter holder that, together with half mask and breathing hose, is included in the
Sundström respiratory protective device systems conforming to EN 12083:1998.
The remote filter holder is to be equipped with filter(s). The air is inhaled through the filter and breathing hose
to the half mask.
The SR 905 is intended to be used in the same environments as a Sundström half mask SR 900.
A remote filter holder shall be used only together with a facepiece having one or more inhalation valves.
Note that there can be national differences in the regulations for use of respiratory protective equipment.

1. Assembly

1.1 Detach the filter holder
from half mask SR 900 by
turning the filter holder ¼ of a
turn.
1.2 Remove the inhalation
membrane from the filter
holder. Save the membrane
for future use.
1.3 Fit the filter in the filter
holder so that the arrows on
the filter point towards the
filter holder.
Carefully check that the edge
of the filter is in the internal
groove of the filter mounting
all around.
1.4 Fit the pre-filter in the pre-
filter holder and press it into
place on the filter.

2.1 When using both gas filter
and particle filter, the particle
filter shall always be snapped
onto the gas filter and the gas
filter shall always be inserted
in the filter holder. Press the
filters together with your
fingers placed around the
outer edges of the filters until
you hear a click.
2.2 Correctly mounted gas
filter, particle filter, pre-filter
and pre-filter holder.
2.3 Place a coin between the
lower lip of the particle filter
and the small tab molded into
the side of the gas filter.
Push firmly and twist the coin
until the filters separate.

Check that the unit is complete, correctly assembled and thoroughly
cleaned.
Check all parts. Replace if worn, broken, or in other way defect.
Check that you have selected the right filter and it has been installed
properly.
4.1 Take the SR 905 on and
adjust the belt so that the
remote filter holder is firmly
and comfortably secured at
the back of your waist.
4.2 Assemble the breathing
hose into the half mask and
turn it ¼ of a turn.
4.3 Put on the half mask.

4.4 Make sure that the
breathing hose runs along
your back and is not twisted.
4.5 Rotate the belt around
your waist so that you reach
the hose connection on SR
905.
Assemble the breathing hose
into SR 905.
Perform a fit check, se
section 5. Fit check.

5.1 Place the palm of your
hand lightly over the hole on
the pre-filter holder to make it
tight.
Take a deep breath and hold
your breath for 5 s. If the
mask is tight, it will be
pressed against your face.
If any leakage is detected:
•Check that the membranes is undamaged,
•Check that the connection with O-ring(s) and attachment with
gasket is undamaged and fits properly,
•Check that the hose not is twisted.
Inadequate fit may be caused by beard growth, stubble, deep facial
furrows or unusual face size.
5.2 Rotate back the belt so
that the SR 905 is placed at
the back of your waist.

6. Cleaning

6.1 Remove the filter holder
and the filter.
6.2 Clean the SR 905 and all
parts with Sundström
cleaning tissues SR 5226. If
the SR 905 is heavily soiled,
use a warm (up to +40 °C),
mild soap solution and a soft
brush, followed by rinsing
with clean water and drying in
air at room temperature.
Inspect all parts and replace with new parts as necessary. Critical
areas are the membranes and the connections/attachments which
must have clean and undamaged contact surfaces.
If necessary, spray the SR 905 with 70 % ethanol or isopropanol
solution for disinfection.
Leave the equipment to dry, and then assemble it.
NOTE! Never use solvents for cleaning.
