Operation instructions
Face shield

Information
Instructions for use for SR 570 should be read before use.
SR 570 together with the fan unit SR 500/SR 700 and approved filters is included in the Sundstrom fan-
assisted respiratory protective device system conforming to EN 12941/ EN 12942:1998.
SR 570 can also be used together with compressed air attachment SR 507 conforming to EN 14594:2005
When selecting the head-top, some of the factors that should be considered are as follows:
• Types of pollutants
• Concentrations
• Work intensity
• Protection requirements in addition to respiratory protective device.
The risk analysis should be carried by a person who has suitable training and experience in the area.

1.Connect the hose

1.1 Connect the breathing
hose to the face shield.
A click is heard when it is
correct attached.
1.2 Connect the hose from
the face shield and turn
clockwise about 1/8 turn
or
Connect the hose to the
compressed air attachment
SR 507.

2.1 Turn the flow meter bag
inside out and the flow meter
appears.
2.2 Place the head-top in the
flow meter and start the fan
unit. Grip the bag to seal
around the breathing hose.
Grip the flow meter tube with
the other hand, the tube will
point upwards from the bag
Read the position of the ball
in the tube. This should hover
at a level with or slightly
above the upper marking on
the tube, (175 l/min).
If minimum flow is not
achieved, check that
-the flow meter is held
upright,
- the ball moves freely,
- the bag seals well around
the hose.

3. Adjust head harness

3.1 Height adjustment.
How deep the head ends up
in the head part depends on
where you position the head
crown, there are 5 options on
each side.
3.2 Height adjustment.
How high the hood sits on the
head.
If necessary, adjust the head
harness in height by
lengthening or shortening the
two straps for the top of the
head.
3.3 Angle adjustment
between visor and head
harness.
Adjust if the face is too close
to the visor. There are two
options.
3.4 Angle adjustment
between visor and head
harness.
Adjustment of the angle of the
headband around the back of
the head.
The two pins can be placed in
the upper or lower holes.

3.5 Width adjustment of the
head harness.
Release the two pins and
extend or shorten the width of
the head harness. There are
two options.

If necessary, adjust the
circumference of the head
harness by means of the
knob at the rear of the head
harness.
3.7 The airflow can be
directed towards visor or face
for optimal comfort.

4. Putting the face shield on

4.1 Start the fan. Raise the
visor and put the face shield
on.
Adjust the width of the head
harness using the knob
located at the rear of the
harness
4.2 Lower the visor unit by
pulling the face seal down
under your chin. A clicking
sound indicates that the visor
unit has been lowered fully.
4.3 Insert a finger between
your chin and the face seal
and run the finger along the
contact surface of the face
seal all the way round to
check that it fits well against
the face.
4.4 Check and adjust so that
the breathing hose runs along
your back and that it is not
twisted.

5. Change the visor

5.1 Remove the peel-off clips.
Release and remove the
visor.
5.2 Fit the new visor. Start in
the center.
Make sure that the visor is
centered and end up in the
groove on the face shield.
5.3 Make sure that the visor
is centred and end up in the
groove on the face shield.
Secure the visor on the right
and left side.
5.4 Check that the visor is
properly locked around the
edge of the face shield.

6. Change the exhalation membrane

6.1 Remove the visor see 5.1.
Release and remove the
valve cover.
6.2 Release and remove the
membrane.
6.3 Press on the new
membrane in right position
according to the picture.
The text "UP" on the
membrane should be visible
when mounted as shown.
Carefully check that the
membrane is in contact with
the valve seat all round.
6.4 Press the valve cover into
place.
• Fit the visor, see 5. Change
the visor

7. Change the face seal

7.1 Release the face seal
hooks from the head harness.
7.2 Push the face seal pins
out and remove the face seal.
7.3 Fit the new face seal. The
marking on the face seal and
visor should be in front of
each other.
7.4 Press the face seal all
around the visor. Make sure
that the face seal pins is fixed
in the visor. Secure the face
seal hooks into the head
harness.

8.1 Release the face seal
hooks from the head harness.
8.2 Remove the forehead
seal.
8.3 Fit the new forehead seal.
Press down the tabs of the
forehead seal in the socket
on the face shield.
8.4 Place the seal so it fits
between the sockets of the
sides of the head harness.
Check that head harness seal
is mounted as shown.

9. Change the sweatband

9.1 Remove the head
harness from the face shield
by releasing the three fixing
points. Remove the
sweatband.
9.2 Push in the head harness
tongue into the new
sweatband. Note how the
sweatband is turned!
9.3 Fit the sweatband into the
head harness spikes. Fold
the sweatband around the
bandeau of the head harness
and fit the spikes in the holes.
9.4 Secure the two loose
sockets of the sweatband
onto the head harness.

10.1 Remove the head
harness from the face shield
by releasing the three fixing
points.
Change the head harness
seal, see section 8.
Change the sweatband see
section 9.
10.2 Secure the both fixing
points of the head harness on
the sides.
10.3 Secure the fixing point of
the head harness in the front.

11. Cleaning

11.1 For more severe soiling,
use a soft brush or sponge
moistened in a solution of
water and detergent or the
like. Rinse clean and allow to
dry.
11.2 Clean the exhalation
membrane and the valve
seat. Check that everything is
ok.
Sundström cleaning tissues SR 5226 are recommended for daily
care. If the equipment is more heavily fouled, the head harness
seal, face seal and sweatband can be put in a laundry bag and
mashine wash (max 40 °C). Other items can be washed in the
dishwasher (max 55 °C). If necessary, spray the face shield with
70 % ethanol or isopropanol solution for desinfection. NOTE!
Never use solvents for cleaning.

13.1 Remove the gaskets.
Clean the connections and
the packing groove. Before
the new gasket is mounted.
