Cooker hoods with manual shut-off
damper
Shut-off damper control
The damper opens when you turn the control to the left:
• For cooking on the cooker or in the oven
• If a more demanding situation arises, the system increases
the extraction capacity of the cooker hood
The damper closes when you turn the control to the right:
• Under normal conditions, more capacity is given to the other
rooms.
Cooker hoods with timer for the shut-off damper (mechanical
or electric damper with timer)
A: The boost period can be changed by turning the knob
(turning the knob to the left reduces the boost period, turning
the knob to the right increases it). Turning the shut-off damper
knob completely to the right is equivalent to a 60-minute
boost period.
AS: Briefly pressing in the timer button will actuate an electric
motor to open the shut-off damper to boost the air extraction.
This boosted airflow mode will automatically end after 60 mi-
nutes. The boosted airflow mode can be cancelled by holding
the timer button pressed in for more than two seconds after
which the ventilation system will return to the normal opera-
tion mode. If the timer button is briefly pressed while boosted
operation is in progress, the fan will continue to operate in the
boosted operation mode for 60 minutes after the button was
pressed.
Maintenance instructions
•Make it a point to keep the grease filter clean to ensure that
the volume of extract air leaving the kitchen is adequate.
•Release the catches of the bottom plate by turning the
locking knobs one quarter turn anticlockwise. Turn the
bottom plate to its lower position. Unfasten the grease filter
by lifting it upward and pulling it forward at the same time,
when it detaches from the rear section. Be on your guard so
that the filter will not fall down on the cooker.
•Wash the filter at least 1–2 times per month or if needed, by
hand with warm water and dishwashing detergent or in a
dishwasher.
To change a lamp
Back off the screws on the protective glass of the lamp. De-
tach the lamp by pulling it forward. Type of lamp: Fluorescent
tube or halogen lamp, depending on the model.
If the home ventilation is switched off,
this will prevent clean outdoor air from ente-
ring the home and the polluted air from leaving
it. The building regulations therefore assume
that the ventilation system is switched on conti-
nuously and that its output is regulated to fulfil
the needs of the residents.
In buildings in which one cooker hood is used for controlling
one separate power roof ventilator and the remaining ventila-
tion is handled by a separate system, the cooker hood should
be used in connection with cooking and should be set to the
capacity called for by the activity at that moment.
Flambéing under the cooker hood
is forbidden.

General instructions for the use and maintenance of the Swegon
CASA cooker hood
In the apartment-specific ventilation system, the operating
speed of the ventilation equipment is adjusted by means of
the cooker hood.
The controls are used for regulating the ventilation capacity to
meet the current need for ventilation.
Normal operation (Mode 2 or 3)
The ventilation system should operate continuously. Under
normal conditions, the total volume of air in the home should
be completely replaced every second hour.
Operating mode during absence (Mode 1)
When no one is in the dwelling, the ventilation can be redu-
ced from the normal rate, provided that this will not cause any
risk to the structural elements of the building or the ventilation
system.
Boosted operation (Modes 3 and 4)
Food preparation, sauna bathing, showering, laundry drying,
toilet visits, guests, increased temperature or equivalent situa-
tions may require the need for more ventilation capacity than
what is normally required.
Ventilation switch
• ON in the pressed-in position • OFF in the released
position
*A directly wired cooker hood (P in the product code) is supp-
lied without switch.
Ventilation switch
The pushbuttons remain pressed in and are interlocked with
the other buttons.
1 = Position for when no one is at home.
2–3 = Normal mode.
4 = Mode for boosted operation.
