1.Shutofftheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
engagetheparkingbrake,andremovethekey.
2.Removethelocknut,bolt,spring,andspacerholding
thegrassdeectortothepivotbrackets(Figure1).
Removethegrassdeector.

WARNING
Anuncovereddischargeopeningcouldallowthe
machinetothrowobjectsatyouorbystandersand
resultinseriousinjury.Also,contactwiththeblade
couldoccur.
•Neveroperatethemachineunlessyouinstalla
coverplate,amulchplate,oragrasschuteand
catcher.
•Makesurethatthegrassdeectorisinthedown
position.
1.Alignthedischarge-chutebracketwithdeckbracket
andplacethenewspacerandspringontothegrass
deector(Figure2).
Note:InstalltheL-endofthespringbehindthedeck
edge.

testthatitlowersintothefulldownposition.

Operation
UsingtheChuteGate
CAUTION
Thechutegatedoesnotsealthedischarge
opening.Grassandobjectsmaybethrowntoward
bystanders,resultinginseriousinjury.
•Beawareofthemowerdischargedirectionand
donotpointitatanyone.
•Removeobstaclessuchasrocks,treelimbs,etc.
fromthemowingarea.
•Neverputyourhandsorfeetunderthemower
ordischargearea.
•Nevertrytoclearthedischargeareaormower
bladesunlesstheengineisoffandyouremove
thekey.
Usethechutegatetotemporarilystopordeectgrass
clippingsawayfromsidewalks,parkinglots,patios,or
anywhereyoudonotwantgrassclippingstoland.Thechute
gatehas3positions:open,45degreeangle,andclosed.
•Rotatethechutegatehandletotheopenpositiontoallow
grassclippingstodischarge(Figure11).
•Rotatethechutegatehandletothe45degreeangleto
deectthegrassclippings(Figure11).
•Rotatethechutegatehandletotheclosedpositionto
stopthegrassclippings(Figure11).
