3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
3.1. Explanation of the safety decals
If the decals are damaged or missing, please replace them.
Explanation Reference
Read the manual before use 163TA4380
3.2. General safety instructions
• TVH Parts Holding NV cannot anticipate each possible circumstance that may
result in danger. Therefore the warnings given in this publication and which appear
on the equipment are not exhaustive.
In the event that equipment, procedures, work methods or working techniques are
used that are not specifically advised by the company TVH Parts Holding NV, it is
necessary to make sure that there is no danger to the operator or other people.
• Inspect before every use. Examine the trailer safety jack for cracks or damage
before each use. Do not use if even a minor crack, bend or other damage/
deformation is found. Discard the trailer safety jack if damaged or deformed.
• The person responsible for the use of the product must make sure that all of the
safety rules in force in the country of its use are applied, to guarantee that the
equipment is used in conformity with the use for which it is destined and to avoid
any dangerous situation for the user.
• Do not operate the product unless you are of age.
• Always wear safety gloves and shoes
• This product contains hydraulic oil
• This safety jack is only intended to support or jack up the end of a trailer.
• Study, understand and follow all instructions before operating this equipment.
• Do not exceed the rated capacity, be aware of dynamic loading.
• Before installing the trailer safety jack underneath the semi trailer, the trailer
must first be fully supported by its landing gear.
• Before installing the trailer safety jack, the semi trailer must first have its wheels
chocked to prevent it from creeping or rolling during its loading or unloading.
• Never crawl under the vehicle during loading or unloading with or without the
trailer safety jack, as this could result in injury or death.
• The user must not move the trailer safety jack while loading or unloading.
• Do not move the trailer at any time while it is supported by the trailer safety jack.

9/20
4. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
The trailer safety jack must always be stored level, in a dry and temperature-controlled
environment.
Transport the trailer safety jack to the work area by either (a) wheeling it or (b) lifting and
carrying it. The trailer safety jack should always be wheeled to the work area if possible–
only lift and carry the safety jack if it cannot be wheeled safely. Wheel the safety jack only
across smooth surfaces. If the surface is rough or uneven, lift and carry the trailer safety
jack instead of wheeling it.
Jolting caused by the wheels catching on uneven surfaces can cause physical strain
and personal injury.
1. How to wheel the trailer safety jack
1. Make sure the surface the trailer safety jack will be rolled onto is flat and smooth. If the
surface is rough or uneven, lift and carry the trailer safety jack instead of rolling.
2. Insert the trailer safety jack transport handle into the socket.
NEVER transport the trailer safety jack with an unsecured transport handle.
3. Use the transport handle to wheel the trailer safety jack.
2. How to lift and carry the trailer safety jack
4. Determine the lifting points on the trailer safety jack. The trailer safety jack should be
lifted using both the lifting point at the toe end and at the rear frame end.
Never lift the trailer safety jack by the transport handle. The transport handle
cannot carry enough weight. This will cause the pump handle to slide out of its
socket and the trailer safety jack to fall.
5. Lift and carry the trailer safety jack. When possible, let someone help you lift and carry
the trailer safety jack.
DO NOT attempt to lift the trailer safety jack if you suffer from any physical
condition that prevents you from lifting the safety trestle safely.
When the trailer safety jack is not in use, store it with the saddle fully lowered.
Avoid placing the trailer safety jack in full sunlight and make sure the ground is level.

6. OPERATION
6.1. Safety instructions for operating the product
• Keep the work area well illuminated.
• Make sure that the trailer safety jack make a firm contact with the ground.
• When the trailer safety jack is in use make sure that no persons are in the vicinity
of the trailer safety jack or lie down underneath the semi trailer to prevent serious
injuries.
• Always wear safety gloves and shoes when using the trailer safety jack.
• This product contains hydraulic oil
• This safety jack is only intended to support or jack up the end of a trailer.
• A damaged or malfunctioning product must never be used. If damage or
malfunctions are discovered during pre-operation inspection or function tests, the
product must be tagged and removed from service.
• Use the trailer safety jack only on hard level surfaces. Uneven or sloped surfaces
create dangerous working conditions and dangerously obstruct the function of the
trailer safety jack
• Only when the person who has safely placed the trailer safety jack gives the sign
that the installation has been completed, work on the vehicle can commence.
• Do not support human load.
• Do not support animal load.
• Use wheel chocks on all wheels to make sure the vehicle is stable.
6.2. Operating instructions
Please see chapter7 for the daily maintenance schedule.
3. Using the trailer safety jack to support the trailer
1. Tip the trailer safety jack backwards onto its wheels and roll it
under the trailer.
2. Turn the handle clockwise to raise the saddle.
3. Make sure the saddle is as close to the bottom of the trailer as
possible.

12/20
If you use the trailer safety jack as a support when loading the trailer, we recommend
that there is a distance of about 10centimetres (3.90inches) between the trailer
safety jack and the trailer.
The load in the trailer will cause the trailer to lower. Thismakes it easier to remove
the trailer safety jack after the work has been done.
4. Once at the correct height, the support plate can no longer
lower thanks to the internal thread.
5. If you have finished working and wish to lower the trailer safety
jack, turn the lever counterclockwise to lower it.
6. Make sure that you lower the plate completely.
7. Tip the jack backwards and roll it out from under the trailer.
4. Using the trailer safety jack as a jack.
8. Tip the trailer safety jack backwards onto its wheels and roll it
under the trailer.
9. Turn the handle clockwise to raise the saddle.
10. In case of jacking up the trailer, you must jack up the support
plate to the trailer.
11. Keep turning the handle so that the support plate starts to lift
the trailer. Keep turning the handle until the trailer is at the
desired height.
12. Once the desired height has been reached, the carrier plate
can no longer be lowered due to the internal thread.
13. If you have finished working and wish to lower the trailer safety
jack, turn the lever counterclockwise to lower it.
14. Make sure that you lower the plate completely.
15. Tip the jack backwards and roll it out from under the trailer.
