
CUSTOMER INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING : This Cargo Barrier is only to be installed behind the first and second row
seats.
If these instructions are not followed, personal injury or death may occur.
Keep these instructions in the Glove Box with the owners manual for future reference.
1. The Compliance Rating Plaque that is fitted to the Cargo Barrier shall not be removed under
any circumstances.
2. Do not obstruct seat belt or child restraints, or their operation.
3. Do not attach the Cargo Barrier to the vehicle using seat, seat belts or child restraint
anchorages.
4. Do not attach objects to the front of the Cargo Barrier.
5. Do not modify the Cargo Barrier in any way.
6. Do not use this Cargo Barrier in any other vehicle for which it is not designed.
7. During a collision, moving cargo may damage the seat belts and the tether strap of a child
restraint device or its anchorages. Load should not be in contact with webbing.
8. Never leave children unattended in the rear of the vehicle especially behind the Cargo Barrier.
The rear cargo area should never be used as a play area for children.
9. Position the load against the Cargo Barrier.
10. Clean the Cargo Barrier with soap and water only. Do not use solvents or chemicals.
11. Replace the Cargo Barrier if it becomes rusted or damaged.
12. Do not store outside in direct sunlight.
13. Long thin items of cargo should be positioned in the vehicle with the long axis across the
vehicle to minimise the penetration risk.
14. Regularly check that the fasteners are tight.
15. In the event of an accident the Cargo Barrier may deform into the passenger area and the
mounting points may be weakened. Please have the installation checked by an authorised
Toyota dealer in the event of an accident.
16. The high tensile fasteners supplied with this barrier were used to achieve the specified rating.
If replacement is required, ensure that fasteners of the same rating are used. Contact an
authorised Toyota dealer if further information is required.

NOTE : ‘EMERGENCY ESCAPE HAMMER’
In the case of occupant entrapment behind the Cargo Barrier, the Emergency Escape Hammer tool
can be used to break the glass for occupant safety or escape.
DO NOT remove the hammer from the wire mesh unless in an emergency situation.
Parents should explain to children the correct operation of the hammer.
DO NOT engage the child lock on the tailgate when the cargo barrier is installed.

17. Do not place smaller items, that may bypass the cargo barrier in the event of heavy braking
or collision, near the edges of the barrier.
