1 Introduction
This instruction manual is for users of the TRUST AMI HAND TRACK PRO. This
trackball can be used as a PS/2 or USB scroll-mouse. The mouse buttons can be
programmed for optimal use.

2 Safety
Carefully read the following instructions before use.
- The TRUST AMI HAND TRACK PRO does not require any special
maintenance. Use a slightly damp, soft cloth to clean this product.
- Do not use aggressive substances, such as white spirit, to clean the device.
These may harm the material.
- Do not use this device near water.
- Make sure nothing is placed on the cable. Do not use this device where the
cable can become worn or damaged as a result of people walking over it.
- Do not repair this device.
3 Approval
This device meets the essential requirements and other relevant conditions of the
applicable European directives. The Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is available at
www.trust.com/13983/ce.
4 Description of the trackball
Use table 1 in combination with figure 1 and 2.

5 Installation
5.1 Connecting your trackball to the PC or Mac
Connect the TRUST AMI HAND TRACK PRO to your computer's USB- or PS/2 port.

5.1.1 PS/2 port installation (PC)
Before installing the AMI HAND TRACK PRO, turn off your computer. Use the USB-
PS/2 converter (included with this product) to connect the trackball to the PS/2 port.
Caution: Plugging and unplugging cables to your computer's PS2 mouse port while
the computer is running may damage the mouse port or your Computer.
5.1.2 USB port installation (PC / Mac)
Windows 98SE or higher or Macintosh OS X (10.1) or higher is required for USB port
installation. Connect the AMI HAND TRACK PRO cable to the USB port of the
computer.
5.2 Installing trackball-utility (PC only!)
The trackball-utility provides you an easy way to customize the buttons of your
trackball. The trackball-utility will be automatically loaded into your system after
finishing the Installation.
To install the trackball-utility:
1. Insert the installation software CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2. The installation program should start automatically. If not, double click the My
Computer icon on your desktop, open the CD-ROM drive, and then run the
'setup.exe' found on the installation CD-ROM.
3. Select ‘Install Software’ in the main menu.
4. Select ‘Trackball-utility’.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
6. The trackball-utility will be installed now.
7. Restart your computer after installing
5.3 Using trackball-utility
Double click the mouse icon on the right-bottom corner of the Windows screen (see
fig. 3). The trackball-settings windows will open. See fig. 4.

Wheel Mode (1, fig. 4)
- Choose “ System Default Mode “ to be compatible with Intelli-Mouse scroll-wheel
function.

- Choose “ Enhance Scroll Mode “ to adjust the speed of the scroll-wheel

When “ Enhance Scroll Mode “ has been selected you can adjust the scroll-wheel
speed. (1= slow, 10 = fast)
Button (3, fig. 5)
To program the buttons on the top of the trackball, press the ‘Button’ tab. (Fig. 5
appears) Now you can assign the 3 buttons to a different function. By default the
buttons are set as ‘System Default’.
Functions of ‘System Default’ (Win ME / 2000 / XP / 2003):
Button 3 -> Auto-scroll
Button 4 -> Internet Explorer’s Back
Button 5 -> Internet Explorer’s Forward

6 Troubleshooting

6.1 Uninstall old drivers and products
The most common cause of faults during installation is the presence of a driver for a
similar, old device. The best solution is to first remove all drivers related to old
devices before installing the new driver. Make sure you only delete programs for old,
unused (similar) devices.
1. Click on 'Start - Settings - Control Panel' and double-click on the 'Add/Remove
Programs' icon.
2. Find all the programs for similar, old devices and remove these by clicking on
the 'Add/Remove' butt on.
3. Restart the computer.
6.2 Checking after installation
After connecting the trackball and installing the trackball-utility to your PC, the
following device and program has been added to your system and can be checked:
USB:
Start – Settings – Control panel – System – Device manager
Human Interface Device – Human Interface Device
PS/2:
Start – Settings – Control panel – System – Device manager
Mouse – PS/2 compatible mouse
USB and PS/2:
Start – Settings – Control panel – Add or Remove Programs

Note: The information given above will vary when the installation has
been altered by the user (for example, not everything has been
installed or locations other than the default locations have been
selected).
Note: Deviations may also occur as a result of using new drivers
available on the Internet.
Note: The location or name may vary in the ‘Control Panel’ for different
operating systems.

6.3 Removing trackball utility
To remove the trackball utility from your computer follow the instructions below:

1. Open control panel: Start – Settings – Control Panel. (In Windows XP: Start –
Control Panel).
2. Select “Add or Remove Programs”.
3. Select “TRUST AMI HAND TRACK PRO 5.3”.
4. Select “Change/Remove”. Follow the instructions on the screen until the
following options will appear: “Modify”, “Repair” and “Remove”.
5. Select “Remove”.
6. Following the instructions on the screen.

7. Warranty conditions
- Our products have a two-year manufacturer's warranty which is effective from
the date of purchase.
- If there is a fault, return the product to your dealer and include an explanation
of the fault, the proof of purchase and all the accessories.
- During the warranty period, you will receive a similar model, if one is available.
If no similar product is available, your product will be repaired.
- Please contact our help desk for missing components, such as the instruction
manual, software or other components.
- The warranty becomes invalid if the product has been opened, if there is
mechanical damage, if the product has been misused, if alterations have been
made to the product, if the product has been repaired by a third party, in the
case of negligence or if the product has been used for a purpose other than
that originally intended.
- Excluded from the warranty:
• Damage caused by accidents or disasters, such as fire, flood,
earthquakes, war, vandalism or theft.
• Incompatibility with other hardware/software which is not stated in the
minimum system requirements.
• Accessories, such as batteries, fuses (if applicable).
- Under no circumstances will the manufacturer be held responsible for any
incidental or consequential damage, including the loss of income or other
commercial losses resulting from the use of this product.
