RecommendedLocation

ThePIRshouldbewallmountedathighlevel(2.1m)inthehallwaytomonitormovementbetweenrooms.
IftherearepetsinthehomethePIRshouldbeinvertedandfittedatlowlevel(1m)–seePETALLEYmode.
Toavoidfalsealarmsthereshouldbenomovingobjectsorrapidtemperaturechanges(heatingducts)inthedetectionarea.



Becarefulwhenusingstepladders–alwaysfacethedirectionyouareworking.
Adrillisnotrequirediftheselfadhesivefixingpadisused.
Alwaysmakesurethecorrectdrillbitsandscrewdriversareused.


Installation–UsingScrewFixings

1. UndoSCREW“A”fromthebottomofthedetectorandremovethe  UP
completelidassembly.

2. Drill‐outthe2mostsuitableFIXINGHOLES“B”insidetherearsection.
Usethisasatemplatetomarkthewall.

3. Beforedrillingthewallbesuretherearenoelectricalcables  NORMAL
orplumbingunderthesurface.ORIENTATION

4. Usethescrews&plugsprovidedtofixtherearsectiontothewallSCREW“A”
notingthecorrectorientation(seenextpageforPETALLEY).

5. Removetheinsulatingtabtoconnectthebatteries,
refitthelidandtightenthescrew.    FIXINGHOLES“B”  B



UndoSCREW“A”andremovethelidassembly.
Removetheinsulatingtabtoconnectthebatteries.B  B
Refitthelidandtightenthescrew.
Selectthebestlocationwherethewallsurfaceisclean,dryandeven.
Sticktheadhesivepadtotherearofthedetector.
Pressthedetectorfirmlyagainstthewallensuringitisstucksecurely.




TheredLEDwillflashoncewhenmovementisdetected.

NOTE:therearenoradiotransmissionsduringawalktest.

AttheendofthewalktestperiodtheredLEDwill
flashrapidly8times.

ThePIRisnowinnormaloperatingmodeand 
theLEDwillNOTflashwhenmovementisdetected.






TamperSwitch

WhenthePIRlidisremovedthetamperswitchwilloperateandtransmitanalarmsignal.Thiswillalsocheckthebatterycondition
(andreportanalarmiflow)toassistServiceEngineers.

ThetamperswitchshouldbeactivatedwhenlearningthePIRontotheSayPhone,Reach,AdventxtorAltecResponse.
Seepage4forhowtoputeachoftheseproductsinto“LearnMode”.

Therangeofallradiodevicescanbeaffectedbytheworkingenvironment‐alwaystakecareduringinstallation
andperformseveraltestcalls.



Maintenance

Noroutinemaintenanceisrequired;howeverawalktestshouldbeperformedonceayeartoverifyoperation.
PIR’sarenotassusceptibletodustandcontaminationassomedetectorsbutitisstillrecommendedtocleanthemperiodically.
PIR’scanbedustedorwipedcleanwithadampcloth,neverusedetergentsorpolish.


Decorating

NeverpaintthePIRdetectoritself.
Unlikesomedetectors,PIR’sarenotsusceptibletocontaminationfrompaintfumesthereforenospecial
precautionsneedtobetaken.


BatteryLife

Undernormaloperatingconditions(40activations/day)the
PIRbatteriesshouldlastforupto2years.

Thebatteriesarecheckedeveryday,ifthevoltagefallsandstaysbelowapresetlevel
a“lowbattery”callisautomaticallysenttotheControlCentreorLocalManager.

Anotherlowbatterycallwillnotbetransmittedfor7days.

Thebatteriesshouldbereplacedwithin2weeksofthefirstlowbatterywarning.

Replacementbatteries:2xAAsizeEnergizerLithium–alwaysreplaceinpairs.


3. ActivatethePIRtamperswitch–theSayPhone21willannounce“MovementSensor”andthedisplaywill
promptyouforaDeviceLocation.
4. UsetheGREYbuttonstoselecttheappropriate2digitlocationcode(listedintheSayPhone21
installationmanual)thenpresstheREDbuttontoconfirm.
5. ThedisplaywillchangetoshowTriggerMessage–presstheREDbuttonseveraltimestoexitthismode.
6. PresstheGREENbuttonontheSayPhone21andwaitforabout12secondsuntilthefrontlightgoes
steadyGREEN.
