Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance!
These operating instructions are a component of the Parking Lamp
UPA 500 A1(hereafter designated as the appliance) and they
provide you with important information about the intended use,
safety, operation and disposal of the appliance.
The operating instructions must be constantly kept available close to the
appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to
operate, and eliminate faults in, the appliance. Retain these operating
instructions and pass them on, with the appliance, to any future owner.

In these extant operating instructions the following warnings are used:

Intended use
This appliance is intended exclusively for the signaling of distances
between a vehicle and the garage wall and thus facilitates the proc-
ess of parking. This appliance is intended only for domestic use, it is
not intended for commercial or industrial applications. This appliance
is intended only as an aid in parking, under no circumstances can
or does it replace the necessary prudence and caution of the driver
during the parking process. Accordingly, no liability can be assumed
for any damage resulting from improper assembly, use, maintenance
or malfunction. The operator alone bears the risk.

This appliance complies with the statutory safety regulations. Incorrect
usage can lead to personal injury and property damage.

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY
Before use check the appliance for visible external damage.►
Do not put into operation an appliance that is damaged or
has been dropped.
Use the appliance only for the purposes as described (see

chapter Intended use).
This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including►
children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual
abilities or deficiences in experience and/or knowledge
unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their
safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appli-
ance is to be used.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not►
play with the appliance.
CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE
Avoid any additional heat build up, e.g. direct sunlight,►
heaters, etc..
Do not expose the appliance to moisture, use it only in dry►
areas.

Interaction with batteries
WARNING
Danger from improper use!
For safe handling of batteries pay heed to the following safety
instructions:
Do not throw batteries into a fire.►
Never short-circuit batteries.►
Do not attempt to recharge batteries.►
Regularly check the condition of the batteries. Leaking battery►
acid can cause permanent damage to the appliance. Special
caution should be shown when handling damaged or leaking
batteries. Risks from acid burns! Wear protective gloves.
Store batteries in a place inaccessible to children. If a battery►
is swallowed seek IMMEDIATE medical attention.
Do not use or mix depleted and new batteries together.►
If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended►
period, remove the batteries.

Inserting the batteries
Slide the on/off switch♦ 2to the position "OFF".
Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow♦
and remove it from the appliance.
Insert 4 x 1.5 V batteries of the type AA/LR6/Mignon into the♦
battery compartment 6. Pay heed the the polarity markings
given in the battery compartment 6.
Replace the battery compartment cover and let it firmly engage.♦
NOTICE
If, during use or in standby mode, the red LED► 3flashes
once every 10 seconds, the batteries are too weak and must
be replaced.

Wall mounting
DANGER
When drilling the holes ensure that any electric cables or►
other installations in the wall, such as water pipes, are not
damaged.
TAKE NOTE
The supplied plugs are only suitable for a mounting on con-►
crete or stone. Before starting the installation, please check
your installation location carefully for its suitability for the
plugs. If in doubt, call a professional.
Attach the Parking Lamp♦ on the garage wall at the level of
the windshield of your vehicle. For this, mark two boreholes with
a vertical spacing of 130 mm.
Attach the ultrasonic sensor on the garage wall at the level of♦
the bumper of your vehicle. For this, mark two boreholes with a
vertical spacing of 45 mm.
Now bore, using an electric or hand drill fitted with a 6 mm♦
drill, the four holes to a minimum depth of 30 mm.
Insert the plugs into the holes and screw the screws in. Leave♦
the screw heads protruding a little.
Now hang the Parking Lamp♦ and the ultrasonic sensor 7
on the screws.
NOTICE
Alternatively, you can also use the supplied hook and loop►
pads for mounting the Parking Lamp and the ultrasonic
sensor 7.

Operation
The appliance has three operating modes:
Standby
The appliance switches automatically into standby mode (energy
saving mode) if no movement has occurred within the monitoring
area for about 30 seconds. In the case of movement occuring, the
appliance automatically detects the entrance or exit, and switches
itself on again.
Entrance
On entrance into the garage the appliance switches itself on with the
light sequence green - yellow - red.
Exit
Should a vehicle remove itself from close to the appliance, the yellow
LED 4switches on and then the green LED 5.
Switch the appliance on by sliding the on/off switch♦ 2to the
position "ON". The LEDs flash briefly (red, yellow, green).
The appliance is now operational and the green LED 5glows
permanently.
Now test the functionality by moving slowly towards the ultra-♦
sonic sensor 7and checking the individual light signals of the
Parking Lamp .

NOTICE
Please take note that, in the switchover zones, it is possible►
to have an alternating of the colours. This is not a defect, it
is an indication that the switchover zone cannot be clearly
identified, such as when the vehicle is not parallel to the
sensor.

IMPORTANT
Possible damage to the appliance.
To avoid irreparable damage, when you are cleaning the►
appliance ensure that no moisture can penetrate inside it.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. They could damage►
the surface.
Clean the appliance with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn soiling♦
you may also moisten the cloth slightly.
Storage
Should you intend to not use the appliance for an extended period,
remove the batteries and store it in a clean and dry place away from
direct sunlight.

Disposal
Disposal of the appliance
Do not dispose of this appliance in your
normal domestic waste. This appliance is
subject to the provisions of European
Directive 2002/96/EC-WEEE (Waste Electrical
and Electronic Equipment).
Dispose of the appliance through an approved
disposal centre or at your community waste facility.
Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case
of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.
Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmen-
tally friendly manner.
Disposing of the batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of in the household waste. Every
consumer is statutorily obliged to dispose of batteries at a collecting
point in their town/district or at a retail company. This obligation
is intended to ensure that batteries are disposed of in an environ-
mentally safe manner. Only dispose of batteries when they are fully
discharged.

Warranty
You receive a 3-year warranty for this appliance as of the purchase
date. This appliance has been manufactured with care and meticu-
lously examined before delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a
warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service
department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your
goods be assured.
NOTICE
The warranty covers only claims for material and manufac-►
turing defects, not for transport damages, wearing parts or
for damage to fragile components, e.g. buttons or batteries.
This appliance is intended solely for domestic, not commercial, use.
In the event of misuse and improper handling, use of force and
interference not carried out by our authorised service branch, the
warranty will become void.
Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty.
The warranty period is not extended by repairs effected under
warranty. This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.
Any damages or deficiencies found on purchase must be reported
as soon as possible after unpacking, at the latest by two days after
purchase.
On expiry of the warranty, all repairs carried out are subject to
charges.
