USWaterhaspioneeredtheuseofhydrogenperoxideinwatertreatmentfortheeradicationof
iron(rust),sulfur(hydrogensulfideodor)andmanganesefornearly20years.Itcantrulybe
calledan"EradicationSystem"becauseitTOTALLYremovesiron,sulfurandmanganese.
Properlysized,anOxi-GenHydrogenPeroxideSystemfromUSWATERisTHEMOST
EFFECTIVEMETHODforremovingiron,rust,sulfur,hydrogensulfideandmanganeseandthe
rotten-eggodorfromyourwatersupply.HydrogenPeroxideisnotahazardouschemical-to
thecontrary,hydrogenperoxide(H2O2)iscomposedoftheelementsofwater:Hydrogenand

HowYourOxi-GenWaterTreatmentSystemWorks
TheOxi-Geniron,sulfurandmanganeseeradicationsystemusesHydrogenPeroxide(H2O2)
to oxidize contaminants in your water source.  The chemical name for hydrogenperoxide is
H2O2.  As you can see it is very similar to water (H2O) but with one additional oxygen
molecule.  Hydrogenperoxideisinjectedintothewaterstreamproportionally.Thechemical
injectionsystemwillengagethepumpbasedontheflowrateofthefeedsourcewaterandthe
settingsonthepumpcontrol.
Whenwaterisbeingusedthewatermetersendsapulsetothepumpcontroltoengagethe
pump.  So when large amounts of water are being used the pump will run more frequently
duringtheusageperiodthanintimeswhenasmallamountofwaterisbeingused.
When hydrogen peroxide is injected into the water stream, it oxidizes the iron, sulfur and
manganesefromsolution.Thisreactionisimmediate.Whenthesecontaminantsareoxidized
withhydrogenperoxide(H2O2)theextraoxygenmoleculeoxidizesthecontaminantsandthe
byproductisH2O(water).Thisismuchsaferthanusingchlorineinthatchlorinecancause
otherproblemsinthewaterstreamsuchaschloraminesandtrihalomethanes(THM’s).
Oncethewaterhasbeeninjectedwithhydrogenperoxideitpassesthroughthebackwashing
carbon filter.  The backwashing carbon filter uses catalytic carbon to act as a “catalysis” to
remove the oxidized contaminants.  As the water passes through carbon filter the oxidized
contaminantsareremovedfromthewaterandcollectedonthecarbonmedia.Oncethewater
haspassedthroughthecarbonfilterthewaterisiron,sulfurandmanganesefree!
Thecarbonfilterwillneedtobebackwashedonafrequency(indays)toflushoutthecollected
contaminants.  The frequency varies on each system depending on the contaminant level.
Please use the following table as a guideline for backwash frequency combining iron, sulfur
andmanganesevalues(thesearebaselinevaluesandactualfrequencymayvary)

1. Removethetanksfromcarton.
2. Verifytheriseriscenteredinthetanks.Thereisanindentationinthebottomofthe
tanksthatwillcentertheriser.
3. Placeapieceofducttapeovertherisertubessonomediaenterstheriserwhilefilling.
4. Makesuretherisersarecenteredtofacilitatethevalveinstallationafterinstalla
tionofthemedia.
5. UsetheFunnelprovided,topourthemediaintothetanks.Pouritevenlyaroundthe
holetoensureitiswelldistributedinthetankandpourslowenough,tokeepfromplug
gingthehole.Evenlydividethegravelandcarbonandpourinthetanks.
Important:Itisagoodpracticetoholdashopvacclosetothefunneltocollectany
dustthatescapesduringthefillingprocess.Safetyglassesandadustmaskarerec
ommended.
6.Whenmediaisinstalledmovetanksidetosidetosettlethemedia.Ifpossible,fillthe
tankswithwaterandallowthecarbontosoakwhileinstallingtheotherpartsofthesystem.

1. RemovetheStennerEconFPpumpandsolutiontankfromthebox.
2. Mountthepumpmountingbrackettothetankusingcustomersuppliedscrews.Besurethebracketisin
stalledsothecontrolpanelisfacingup.
3. Mountthepumptothebracketandsecureallscrews.
4. Drilla1/4”holeinthetopofthetankandfeedthesupplied1/4”linethroughthehole.Openthecapand
reachinandgrabthetube.Installtheweightedstraineronthetube.Pushthetubingintothetankuntilthe
weightedstrainerisabout1-2”offthebottomwhenthetubeishanging.
5. AttachthetanktubetothetopportontheStennerpumpusingthenutandfarrowthatwassentwiththe
pump.Installthenutoverthetubingthenthefarrow.Thefarrowhasashouldersideandataperedside.
Theshouldersideshouldbeinstalledonthetubingfacingthenut.Thetaperedsideofthefarrowwillface
thepump.Installthetubeandtightenthenuthandtight.
6. Shutoffthewatersupplyandrelievethepressure.
7. Cutthepipeandinstallthecomponentsasfollows.Thesystemoverviewwillprovidetheflowschematicfor
installation.Firstinstallthewatermeter,theninstallapipefromthewatermetertotheinjectiontee.Then
installapipefromtheinjectionteetotheinletofthecarbonfilter.(seecarbonfilterinstallationforproper
connectiontothecarbonfilter)
8. Installapipefromthecarbonfilteroutlettotheexistingequipmentortothehouseplumbingifnoadditional
equipmentisrequired.Besureallsolderjointswithin18”oftheplasticconnectionsaremadepriortocon
nectingtotheplasticcomponents.(seecarbonfilterinstallationforproperconnectiontothecarbonfilter)
9. Nowinstalltheinjectorintheinjectiontee.BesuretouseTeflontapetosealthethreadsontheinjector.
10. Oncetheinjectorisinstalled,turnthewateronandcheckforleaks.Ifthereareleaksfixthemnow.
11. Nowinstallthe1/4”tubefromthebottomportonthepumptotheinjector.Again,theshouldersideofthe
farrowfacesthenutandthetaperedsideofthefarrowshouldfacetheinjectororpumpconnection.
12. Onceallthetubingisconnected,thewaterisonandtherearenoleaks,plugthepumpintoa110vpower
supply.Nowfillthesolutiontankwithperoxideandpressandholdthe“prime”button.Oncetheperoxide
hasreachedtheinjector,releasethe“prime”button.
13. Nowconnectthewatermeterwirestothepumpwires.Redtoredandblacktoblack.Anenclosureorwire
nutscanbeusedtomakethisconnection.Thesewireshavenovoltageanddonotposeanelectricshock.
However,installingtheseinanenclosureistheproperwaytoconnectthem.
14. Pressandholdthe“mode”buttonthenusethe“up”and‘”down”arrowstochangethemodeto“5Seconds
100%”.Nowpressandholdthe“%”buttonandusethe“down”arrowstochangethepercentageto‘50%”.
Thisisagoodstartingpointfortheinjectionsetting.Thiswillberevisitedlaterduringstartup.

WATERPRESSURE:Aminimumof20poundsofwaterpressureisrequiredforregenerationvalvetooperateeffectively.
ELECTRICALFACILITIES:Anuninterruptedalternatingcurrent(A/C)supplyisrequired.Note:Othervoltagesareavail
able.Pleasemakesureyourvoltagesupplyiscompatiblewithyourunitbeforeinstallation.
EXISTINGPLUMBING:Conditionofexistingplumbingshouldbefreefromlimeandironbuildup.Pipingthatisbuiltup
heavilywithlimeand/orironshouldbereplaced.
LOCATIONOFFILTERANDDRAIN:Thefiltershouldbelocatedclosetoadraintopreventairbreaksandbackflow.
BY-PASSVALVES:Alwaysprovidefortheinstallationofaby-passvalveifunitisnotequippedwithone.
CAUTION:Waterpressureisnottoexceed125psi,watertemperatureisnottoexceed110°F,andtheunitcan
notbesubjectedtofreezingconditions.
1. Placethefiltertankswhereyouwanttoinstalltheunitmakingsuretheunitislevelandonafirmbase.
2. Duringcoldweather,theinstallershouldwarmthevalvetoroomtemperaturebeforeoperating.
3. Allplumbingshouldbedoneinaccordancewithlocalplumbingcodes.Thepipesizeforresidentialdrain
lineshouldbeaminimumof1/2".Backwashflowratesinexcessof7gpmorlengthinexcessof20’re
quire3/4"drainline.Commercialdrainlinesshouldbethesamesizeasthedrainlineflowcontrol.
4. Theinletonthebypassvalveisindicatedbyanarrowthatwillpointtowardthevalve.Theoutletwillbe
indicatedbyanarrowpointingawayfromthevalve.
5. SolderjointsnearthedrainmustbedonepriortoconnectingtheDrainLineFlowControlfitting(DLFC).
Leaveatleast6"betweentheDLFCandsolderjointswhensolderingpipesthatareconnectedontheDLFC.
FailuretodothiscouldcauseinteriordamagetotheDLFC.
6. Chosetheplumbingconnectorsandinstalltheminthebypassvalve.Removetheredclipandinsertthe
connector.Re-installtheredcliptosecuretheconnector.
7. Onunitswithaby-pass,placeinby-passposition.Turnonthemainwatersupply.Openacoldwatertapnear
byandletrunafewminutesoruntilthesystemisfreefromforeignmaterial(usuallysolder)thatmayhavere
sultedfromtheinstallation.Onceclean,closethewatertap.
8. Slowlyplacetheby-passinservicepositionandletwaterflowintothemediatankuntilthewaterflowstops.

1.Ifthevalveislockedpressthemenubuttonfor3secondstounlockthevalve.ChartonPage17.
1. Nopushtheupanddownarrowssimultaneouslyfor3-5secondstoenterthemasterprogrammingmode.
2. SystemLanguagewillappearwithablacksquareovertheselectedlanguage.Itisfactorysetfor“English”.
Tochangethisvaluepressandreleasetheset/regenbuttonandthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthe
squareblinkingusetheupordownarrowtoscrolltothedesiredparameter.Oncethedesiredparameteris
highlightedwiththeblacksquareblinking,pressandreleasetheset/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Now
pressthedownarrowtomovetothenextparameter.
3. ThenextparameterisValveOperation.Thisshouldbesetto“Filter”Tochangethisvaluepressandre
leasetheset/regenbuttonandthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthesquareblinkingusetheupordown
arrowtoscrolltothedesiredparameter.Oncethedesiredparameterishighlightedwiththeblacksquare
blinking,pressandreleasetheset/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Nowpressthedownarrowtomoveto
thenextparameter.
4. ThenextparameterisRegen.Mode.Thisshouldbesetto“CalendarClock”.Tochangethisvaluepress
andreleasetheset/regenbuttonandthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthesquareblinkingusetheupor
downarrowtoscrolltothedesiredparameter.Oncethedesiredparameterishighlightedwiththeblack
squareblinking,pressandreleasetheset/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Nowpressthedownarrowto
movetothenextparameter.
5. ThenextparameterisRegenerationTime.Thisisfactorysetat2:00AM.Thiscanbechangedifyouare
upatnightandsleepduringtheday.Thisshouldbesetfor2-3hoursafteryourbedtime.Ifyouhaveother
equipmentthatregenerates,youwillneedtooffsetthebackwash/regenerationtimessoeachunitwillnotbe
backwashing/regeneratingatthesametime.Tochangethisvaluepressandreleasetheset/regenbutton
andthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthesquareblinkingusetheupordownarrowtoscrolltothedesired
parameter.Oncethedesiredparameterishighlightedwiththeblacksquareblinking,pressandreleasethe
set/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Nowpressthedownarrowtomovetothenextparameter.
6. ThenextparameterisRegen.Days.Thisistheamountofdaysbetweenbackwashes.Thisisfactorysetto
“3”.Youcanusethetableonpage#4asaguidelineforproperfrequency.Thisisonlyaguidelineandac
tualbackwashfrequencycouldvary.Typicallythevaluesonthetablewillworkfor90%ofallapplications.
Tochangethisvaluepressandreleasetheset/regenbuttonandthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthe
squareblinkingusetheupordownarrowtoscrolltothedesiredparameter.Oncethedesiredparameteris
highlightedwiththeblacksquareblinking,pressandreleasetheset/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Now
pressthedownarrowtomovetothenextparameter.
7. ThenextparameterisBackwash.Thisisfactorysetto“5”minutes.Changethisvalueto“10”minutesfor
theMO-1,MO-2andMO-3systems.FortheMO-4systemsetthisparameterto“15”minutes.Tochange
thisvaluepressandreleasetheset/regenbuttonandthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthesquareblink
ingusetheupordownarrowtoscrolltothedesiredparameter.Oncethedesiredparameterishighlighted
withtheblacksquareblinking,pressandreleasetheset/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Nowpressthe
downarrowtomovetothenextparameter.
8. ThenextparameterisRapidRinse.Thisisfactorysetto“5”minutes.Changethisvalueto“10”minutesfor
theMO-1,MO-2andMO-3systems.FortheMO-4systemsetthisparameterto“15”minutes.Tochange
thisvaluepressandreleasetheset/regenbuttonandthesquarewillbegintoblink.Withthesquareblink
ingusetheupordownarrowtoscrolltothedesiredparameter.Oncethedesiredparameterishighlighted
withtheblacksquareblinking,pressandreleasetheset/regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Nowpressthe
downarrowtomovetothenextparameter.
9. ThefinalparameterisRestoreDefault.Thisshouldbesetto“NO”.Ifyousetitto“YES”,youwilllosethe
previouslyprogrammedparameters.Tochangethisvaluepressandreleasetheset/regenbuttonandthe
squarewillbegintoblink.Withthesquareblinkingusetheupordownarrowtoscrolltothedesiredparam
eter.Oncethedesiredparameterishighlightedwiththeblacksquareblinking,pressandreleasethe
regenbuttontoholdthevalue.Nowpressthedownarrowtomovetothenextparameter.

StartUp
Someofthesestepshavebeencovered.However,thiswillhelpensurethesystemisstartedproperly.
1. Plugtheinjectionpumpintoa110voutlet.
2.Pressthe“Prime”buttonuntiltheH2O2ispumpedtotheinjector.
3.Holdthe“Mode”buttonthenpushtheuparrowuntilthescreenreads“5SECONDS100%”.
4.Holdthe“%”buttonandusethedownarrowtochangeitto50%.
5.Openagardenspigotorlaundrysinkandslowlyopenthebypassvalvesonthecarbonfilteruntiltheairis
purged.Slowlyopenthevalvesuntilfullyopen.
6.Oncethebypassvalvesonthecarbonfilterarefullyopen,runthewateruntilitisclear(itwillhaveablacktint
toituntilthecarbonisflushed.
7.Oncethecarbontankhasbeenflushedandthereisnoairandthewaterisclear,starttheH2O2pumpsetting
procedure.
8.TosettheH2O2injectionpump,openthekitchensinkfaucetandpullasampleofthewater.Thesample
shouldbefullofairbubblesthatcometotopanddissipateover1-2minutes.
9.Adjustthepumphigherthan50%ifnecessaryuntilthesampleisfullofbubbles.Thepumpcanbeadjustedby
holdingthe“%”buttonandusingtheupordownarrows.
10.Oncethereisasamplefullofairbubblesfromthekitchensinkfaucet,starttoadjustthepumpbackdownin
5%incrementsuntiltherearejustafewbubbles(15-20definedbubbles)inthesamplethatcometothetop
anddissipateimmediately.
11.Allowabout20minutesofruntimebetweensamplecollections.
12.OncetherearejustafewbubblesthatdissipateimmediatelytheH2O2pumpisadjustedproperly.
14.IfyouhavequestionsorthinkthesettingsmayneedtobechangedpleasecontactUSWaterSystemsforas
sistance.
15.Oncethevalvehasbeenset(programmed)thesystemisreadytouse.TheH2O2settingsmayneedtobe
revisitedafteracoupleofdays/weekstoensuretheH2O2isnotoverconcentrated.
16.Astheplumbingclearsandthesystemregulatesthesettingcansometimesbeadjusteddownfurther.

WhatToExpectandRoutineMaintenance
NowthattheMatrixxOxi-Gensystemhasbeeninstalledhereareafewthingstoexpect
1. TheMatrixxOxi-Gensystemwillproduceiron,sulfurandmanganesefreewaterimmediate
lyafterinstallation.Dependingontherawwaterqualitytheremaybecontaminantsbuiltup
inthewaterheater,plumbingsystemandotherdevices.Overthefirstfewweeksaswater
isusedtherecouldbetracesofthisbuildupthatarebeingremovedbythenewlyinstalled
system.Thistypicallyclearsupafteracoupleweeks.
2. Dependingonthecontaminantsbeingremovedtheremaybeironbacteriaorsulfurreduc
ingbacteriaintheplumbingsystempriortotheMatrixxOxi-Geninstall.Thisbacteriacan
potentiallysurviveaftertheMatrixxOxi-Geninstallation.Thisisusuallyindicatedbyasul
fursmellthatwillappearafterafewweeksofinitialusage.Ifthisisthecase,thewelland
entireplumbingsystemwillneedtobechlorinatedtoremoveanyexistingbacteria.Ifthe
bacteriaisnotremoved,itwillbeginto“grow”backwardstowardthetreatmentsystemand
thesulfursmellwillnotgoaway.Ifthisdoesoccur,itiseasilyeradicatedwithachlorination
procedure.
3. Theremaybe“bubbles”inthewaterforafewweeksafterinstallation.Afewbubblesare
fine,butifthereis“fizz”thatremainsforseveralseconds,itisanindicationthatthesystem
isbeingoverfedwithH2O2.Thisoccursbecauseafterinstallationthewaterwillbecome
cleanerandtheinitialdosageofH2O2mayneedtobeadjustedtocompensateforthelow
ercontaminantlevel.

IfyourplumbingsystemusesabladderpressuretankitwillbeinthesystempriortotheMa
trixxOxi-Gensystem.Thistankshouldbedrainedperiodicallytoremovethebuildupofcon
taminants.Typicallyonceaquarterissufficientbutthatfrequencymayneedtobeincreased
onsystemswithhighcontaminantlevels.

Theinternalpumptubemayneedtobereplacedperiodically.Theytypicallylast1-5yearsde
pendingontheusage.Thereisasparetubeshippedwiththesystemandinstructionalvideos
explaininghowtochangethetubeatwww.USWaterSystems.com.
CarbonFilter
Thecarbonfilterisvirtuallymaintenancefree.However,ifthereisapoweroutagetheclock
andothersettingsneedtobecheckedtoensurethefilterwillbackwashproperlyattheproper
timeofday.Itiscrucialthatthecarbonfilterbackwashesatatimewhenthereisnowaterbe
ingusedinthehouse.
