1.6.1. STABILITY AND BALANCE
The VELA Tango is designed as an everyday chair at home. It is intended for
sedentary work and not as a wheelchair. All movement in the VELA Tango have an
impact on the placement of the centre of gravity.
To increase the safety, we recommend:
• Maximum user weight is 386-440 lbs., (depending on the variant); however the
activity level is a significant factor. A person with very forceful movements using
the chair should contact a sales consultant from VELA/VELA Distributor before
purchase
• Do not stand on the chair
• Do not stand on the footring. It is only intended for getting on and off
• The chair is not intended as a wheelchair
• During transportation, the chair should always be locked

Some of the chair’s material can be recycled. Deliver the chair to VELA’s distributor or
your local recycling installation.

ARMREST
The armrests are attached with Unbrako screws as
standard, but attachment with hand screws is also available.
ADJUSTMENT OF HEIGHT
The height of the armrests can be adjusted by loosening
the Unbrako screws on each armrest. Remember to tighten
them again securely.
ADJUSTMENT OF WIDTH
The width of the armrests can be adjusted by loosening the
Unbrako screws under the seat. Remember to tighten them
again securely.
NOTE: The armrest can be adjusted until the red label
marked "STOP".
CHARGING THE BATTERY - VELA Tango 300E ONLYCHARGING THE BATTERY - VELA Tango 300E ONLY
It is recommended that VELA Tango 300E be recharged
daily (when the height function is in use, a tone will be
emitted if the battery is too low). The chair is recharged by
plugging the charging unit into the socket on the chair. The
socket is located at the back on the right side under the
seat.
A yellow LED lamp on the charging unit lights up while the
chair is charging. When the charging is complete, a green
lamp lights up.
WARNING: The chair must not be used while recharging.
The charging unit must not be exposed to moisture or
water and it must not be covered. Keep children and pets
away from the connected charging unit and only the
accompanying original charging unit may be used.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – VELA TANGO 300E
The chair’s electrical function complies with all EMC regula-
tions in accordance with IEC 60601-1-2. Radio transmitter
equipment, mobile phones etc. must not be used in the
immediate vicinity of the chair as they can disrupt its
function. Special care must be taken when using highly
disruptive sources, such as high-frequency surgical equip-
ment etc. Also, make sure that HF cables are not installed
near the chair. If in doubt, please contact a qualified
technician at VELA.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Dear Customer
We would like to thank you for purchasing a VELA Tango. We are sure that it will continue
to give you pleasure well into the future. The directions for use contain useful information
about positioning, operating, maintenance and technical data, etc.
This user manual applies to the VELA Tango 300.
Important
Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. It must always be
readily available to the user. This user manual must always be kept with the chair.
The manual is also available on VELA’s website: www.vela.eu. If you have any questions,
please contact VELA.
The chair is made by VELA, Vermund Larsen A/S, Goeteborgvej 12, 9200 Aalborg SV,
Denmark. The VELA Tango is designed for indoor use by people with slight disabilities.
1.1. SAFETY
This chair carries the CE mark and complies with all current EU regulations. This chair

when rebuilding the product or when using other than original VELA spare parts and
fittings.
1.5 VELA TANGO 300 USER’S MANUAL
SITTING HEIGHT
The VELA Tango 300 features either electric or gas height
adjustment. VELA Tango 300 is also available with a fixed
height that cannot be adjusted.
Gas adjustment of sitting height
Push up the handle on the right side.
Electric adjustment of sitting height
Sitting height is adjusted electrically by pushing the button
on the armrest.
The height function may be used for no more than two
minutes at a time, after which it must rest for eighteen
minutes.
SEAT DEPTH
The depth of the seat is adjusted by loosening the Unbrako
screws under the seat (near the backrest), after which you
can push the backrest forward.
BACKREST TILT AND BACKREST HEIGHT
The height of the backrest can be adjusted by loosening the
Unbrako screws.
The backrest can be tilted by loosening the Unbrako screws
on the back plate and adjusting it to the desired angle.
Remember to tighten the screws again securely.
The height of the backrest can also be adjusted by loosen-
ing the Unbrako screws.
BRAKE
VELA Tango 300 has a central brake that is activated by
means of a handle on the right or left. The handbrake is
pushed forward to lock the wheels, and back to unlock
them.

1.2 WARRANTY
VELA refers to the Danish Sale of Goods Act with regard to warranty. The warranty applies only if
original spare parts and accessories are used, and always provided that adjustments are carried out
by authorised service technicians. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, including
damage caused by misuse or neglect. The warranty does not extend to non-durable parts,
which are subject to normal wear and tear and need periodic replacement.
VELA assumes no liability for damage to the product or injury to the user as a result of:
• Transport
• Misuse
• Ordinary wear and tear
• Incorrect use
• Using non-original spare parts and accessories
• Adjustments carried out by unauthorised service technicians
VELA reserves the right to inspect the product being claimed for and the relevant documentation
before agreeing to the warranty claim, and to decide upon whether to replace or repair the
defective product. It is the customer’s responsibility to return the item being claimed for under
warranty to the address of purchase. The warranty is given by VELA or, subsequently, an VELA
dealer.
REPAIR
If there is a fault on your chair you should contact your dealer at once. Defective chairs should
not be used. If your chair needs reconditioning or repair, only original VELA parts must be used.
Accessories or available spare parts which are broken can be forwarded to VELA for repair. If fault
in the fundamental parts, the whole chair need to be returned to VELA for repair. R82 will not be
held responsible for damage or injury caused by use of non-original parts or repairs made by a
non-authorized VELA person.
1.3. UNPACKING THE CHAIR
VELA Tango is supplied in cardboard packaging which is developed and produced to ensure the
least possible impact on the environment and with focus on ease of use. In case of defects or
transport damage to the chair, please contact VELA immediately. You must not try to repair any
damage yourself or start using the chair.
The box in which the chair was supplied should contain:
- VELA Tango fitted with any additional accessories
- This user manual
1.4. MAINTENANCE OF VELA TANGO
We recommend that you have your VELA Tango serviced once a year to identify any defective or
worn parts. However, removable parts should be regularly checked and tightened. When adjust-
ments have been made, then make sure to tighten up. It is important to fasten all screws on the
chair on a regular basis. All screws which secure the accessories have to be checked, at least once a
month. Further, it is important to be aware of any indications of beginning faults on the frame, PVC
parts and the like.

Wheels
Wheels should be regularly checked and cleaned of any fluff etc.
Base
Wash regularly with a mild solution of lukewarm water and pH-neutral washing-up liquid.
Upholstery
The fabric is made of polyester, which only needs to be vacuumed occasionally and wiped with a
cloth rinsed in clean water and tightly wrung. Make sure to remove any stains as quickly as
possible. Always use a moist clean, white cotton cloth. For more stubborn stains, use a bit of mild
washing-up liquid. Do not use any cleaning materials containing chlorine or methylated spirit. Any
incontinence cover should be machine-washed on a gentle cycle.
1.5. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
To ensure correct use of the VELA Tango, please note the following:

Always remember to lock the chair in position when transporting VELA Tango. No one should sit in
the chair while it is being transported.

Humidity: 15%-95%
Air pressure: ppp up to 0.6 miles above sea level

seated work. All movements in VELA Tango have a bearing on the chair’s centre of gravity. To
enhance safety, we recommend the following:

RECYCLING
