choosing a Vermeiren wheelchair.
I this is your irst wheelchair, we advise you to read this manual care ully: it will help
you to get more acquainted with your wheelchair.
It also provides you with practical advice as to care and service which can be use-
ul or the more experienced wheelchair user as well.
Always keep in mind that the observance o these rules will keep your wheelchair
in excellent operating conditions a ter years o continuous operation.
I you have more questions, even a ter reading this manual, do not hesitate to con-
tact your local dealer who will be pleased to help you.
This manual is compiled rom the latest speci ications and product in ormation avail-
able at the time o publication. Vermeiren NV preserves the right to make alterations
at any time without obligation to replace our updated previous models. Any changes
or improvements can cause slight variations between the illustrations and/or expla-
nations in this manual and the model you received.
Vermeiren NV is not responsible or damage or injuries due to improper or unsa e
usage o this wheelchair. Mechanical or electrical de ects will be dealt with on a
contingency liability basis. The parts will be replaced, but no responsibility or any
damage or injury can be addressed to Vemeiren NV.
Implied warranties, repairs or replacement o de ect parts are limited to one year
rom the date o purchase.
Visible de iciencies must be reported in writing to Vermeiren NV
within 8 days a ter delivery.

parts. These are mounted according to the latest techniques and standards.
Your wheelchair has been thoroughly checked be ore leaving the actory.
We o er you a guarantee o 1 (one) year (batteries 6 months). All de iciencies as a
result rom production or imper ection o the raw material are included.
The warranty excludes damage caused by abuse or misuse. Parts subject to wear are
also excluded. The warranty expires when the buyer opens the control unit or applies
own modi ications on the product.
Whenever you have justi ied complaints, we advise you to contact your dealer imme-
diately. He will do anything - without our consent - to propose a suitable solution.

Warranty

When you correctly use and maintain your electronic wheelchair, it will always unc-
tion per ectly.
When you don’t ollow the guidelines layed out here, you might experience mal unc-
tions.
In order to solve eventual problems, we would like to provide some suggestions:
• The control unit is powered on, but the wheelchair doesn’t move:
• check if both motors are connected
• check if both motors are well connected
• The LED’s o the batteries are blinking:
• check if yo r batteries are charged
• make s re the c rrent of the batteries is s itable for yo r
driving behavio r

Trouble shooting General advise
Only use the battery charger delivered with your wheelchair.
It’s not allowed to make changes at the electronic parts o the wheelchair. All modi-
ications, including mounting non-approved parts or accessories, can make the pro-
duct unsa e and can result in the annulment o the sa ety- and testnorms, as well as
the warranty.
Please read this manual care ully, even i your dealer has explained you the use o
your wheelchair.
The use o mobile phones or computer games may have an in luence on the driving
properties. When using these kind o devices, please switch o your wheelchair.
It may be possible that driving your wheelchair may inter ere with the electromagnet-
ic ields o , or example the anti-the t detection in department stores.

Please keep your batteries clean and dry and ollow our guidelines.
• The connections o the batteries have to be ixed properly

Although the electronic wheelchair o Vermeiren needs a minimum o care, there are
a ew directives to maintain, in order to guarantee a long li e o the control unit.
Protect the control unit rom moist. It can resist waterdrops in daily use, but it’s not
waterproo .
Do not expose the control unit to high temperatures and certainly not to a source o
heat.
Make sure that the control unit is su iciently aired. This is especially important with
high surrounding temperatures and this to guarantee a long li e o the control unit.
Please ask or a repair as soon as the controlpanel shows issures or when the pro-
tection around the joystick is damaged. Further use can lead to more damage,
because water can penetrate the control unit in that case.

Parts of the control unit

Regular maintenance is not only to keep your wheelchair in good condition but it
also guarantees your sa ety.
A irst control is advisable a ter one month o usage. Re er to your dealer who will
asten all bolts and nuts.
We also advise a 1/2 year check up. Repairs o possible demerit can be per ormed
by your dealer.
Cleaning the wheelchair
Dirt on the rame and/or plastic parts can easily be removed with warm water and
a so t detergent. For cleaning the varnished or chromed parts you can buy a special
product in the store.
Tire condition
Check the tire pressure. The maximum pressure is indicated in this book. Lowered
tire pressure is more com ortable to drive but the li espan o the tires will be reduced.
The pressure has to be the same on both sides to avoid deviation to the le t or the
right.
The valves must always be covered by the valve caps.
I the pro ile o the tires wears out or when issures appear, replace the tires in pairs.
Demounting the wheels and replacing the tires is best done by your dealer. He has
the right know-how and the right equipment at his disposal.

Please per orm ollowing procedures daily be ore driving:
- release the main brake,
- place the joystick in starting position and leave it there,
- engage the wheelchair.
The wheelchair isnt supposed to move and a beepsound should be heared.
- let go o the joystick and shut down the wheelchair.
Incase the wheelchair should move or no beepsound is noticable, you should contact
your local vendor.
The electromagnetic brake system o your electronic wheelchair works automatically
and does not require any maintenance. However, keep in mind that the brake sys-
tem does not work when the wheelchair is pushed.
The electromagnetic brakes will work automatically when you move the joystick rom
a driving position back to the centre. This way o braking has to be done slowly.
I the working o your braking system is not to your satis action, contact your dealer.
He can make the necessary adjustments.
In order to block your wheelchair, use the hand brake. This brake can also be used
by your companion.

With the build in steering you can manage all drive, brake and swerve situations
with your electronic wheelchair. The electrical installation and electronics o your
wheelchair are constantly checked.
In case o demerit, the electronics automatically switch o the power.
In this case yo sho ld contact yo r dealer.
Activate the on/o switch. Slowly move the joystick orward. The more you move
the joystick orward, the aster you can drive.
I you want to drive to the le t or right, move the joystick in the desired direction. To
drive backwards, pull the joystick out o the centre to the back.
I you have to slow down whilst driving, put the joystick in the centre. The slower this
is done, the more progressive you will slow down.
I you just release the joystick, the wheelchair will stop as soon as possible.
Your wheelchair is secured rom unintentional bumping by a blocking system. There
is no power when the joystick is in the centre and the wheelchair is powered on.
A ter starting your electronic wheelchair, the joystick must stay at least 2 seconds in
deadlock. A ter this, the wheelchair is ready to go.

Be ore using the wheelchair or the irst time, ask your dealer how to operate it.
A ter that it is better that you amiliarise yoursel with your wheelchair in your own
environment. Only when you are completely amiliarised with the use o your wheel-
chair, you can venture into greater di iculties.
The best way to take obstacles is in a right angle (90o). Not only to mount a side-
walk but also to cross rails and sewage lids. The obstacles may only be 40mm in
height. For your own sa ety, check i the anti-tipping wheels are mounted correctly.
when approaching a sidewalk, slow down and take the obstacle slowly.
Slants o more than 10% are impossible.
Please be care ul when taking an obstacle that you don’t all out o the wheelchair
when you are moving your body.
When you take a slant it is possible that your wheelchair reverses a bit.
Be care ul in bad weather or on rough winding roads.
Do not use your wheelchair when the batteries are almost empty. You might risk get-
ting blocked in a di icult or even dangerous place.

When we developed your wheelchair we aimed at your com ort and sa ety.
The anti-tipping wheels at the back o your wheelchair will prevent your wheelchair
rom tipping over.
I you want to remove these anti-tippingwheels, it is su icient to loosen the screws
(1) and pull the tubes out o the rame. Please be advised that your sa ety cannot be
guaranteed a ter you have removed the anti-tipping wheels.
The distance between the ootplate and the seat is adjustable.
To obtain this you have to put the screws in the corresponding openings on both
sides.

Commencement of o eration Footrest

To adjust the armrests in height, loosen the handle. Adjust the armrest to the desired
height and retighten again. (2)
In order to adjust the plates with the control unit loosen the handle (1). Adjust to the
desired height and retighten again.
The armrest can be removed completely incase you wish to relocate yoursel side-
ways. you can remove the armrest a ter you have loosened the handle or the height
adjustment. (2)
! Attention: Never li t the wheelchair by its armrests
A companion can push your wheelchair.
Use the levers at the back to disconnect the wheels. At this time, the wheelchair is no
longer driven by its engine and your companion is able to push your wheelchair.
In order to reconnect your engine to the wheels, you have to switch the levers again
in the opposite direction. To avoid damage to the engines, do not start them be ore
they are connected to the wheels.
The engines loose their brake capacity when the engines are disconnected rom the
wheels. This is important to know when you are driving down a hill. In that case, you
need to use your manual brakes, positioned at the le t and the right in ront o the
rear wheels.
The wheelchair may only be pushed on a horizontal sur ace. It is strictly orbidden
to drive up or down a slope when the wheels are disconnected. Your companion
might not be able to control your wheelchair and as such you might endanger other
people.

Your wheelchair isn’t meant or
indoor use only.
It can easily be transported or
travel.
We have tried to make it as easy
as possible or you to transport
your wheelchair.
Folding your wheelchair:
Remove the back and the seat
and put the ootplate up.
Disconnect the plug rom the
Battery pack.
The Battery pack is located in a
metal casing on our wheels with
two grips. Take the backgrip and
li t the Battery pack. Now you can
enroll the whole Battery pack until
the rontgrip shows up. Grab the
second grip and li t the battery
pack.
You can old your wheelchair until both touch eachother.
Proceed in reversed order to assemble your wheelchair again.
The position o the control unit can
be adjusted seperatly rom the posi-
tion o the armrest. To adjust the
control unit horizontally, loosen
screw (1).
To adjust the control unit vertically,
use handle (2).

I your wheelchair is provided with
cushions, you can remove the
back by loosening the screws and
slide the back upwards to remove
it.
To remove the seat you only have to li t it rom its rame. To put it back into its posi-
tion, put it back onto the rame and make sure it cannot slide away. The hooks on
the sides o the seat needs to correspond with the rame.`
To ensure your sa ety, it is possible to provide your wheelchair with a Security belt,
which also acts as a support.
We have have provided the back with a tube or easy assembly. Your dealer is the
most experienced person to help you in choosing the right Security belt and to
assemble it.
