DESCRIPTION
MAINTENANCE
1. Prepare any garnish (tomato, cucumber, lettuce, cheese, etc.) and
keep it handy.
2. If you’re using burger buns or hot dog rolls, split them.
3. Cut the food to be grilled into slices no more than 25mm (1 inch)
thick.
4. Put the toaster-grill on a firm, level, heat-resistant surface, out of
the reach of children. Don’t plug it in yet.
5. Center the tray for oil collecting in front of the toaster-grill, then
push it into the bottom shell until it touches the front shell.
6. Wipe the baking plates lightly with a piece of kitchen towel contain-
ing a small amount of cooking oil or butter. Don’t use low fat spread,
as it may burn and damage the non-stick coating plates.
7. Close the lid.
8. Plug the toaster-grill into the power socket.
54
9. The indicator light will come on to show that the toaster-grill is
heating up. It will go out when the toaster-grill reaches working tem-
perature, then cycle on and off as the thermostat operates to maintain
the working temperature.
10. When the indicator light goes out, the toaster-grill is ready for
use.
11. Use the grill handle to lift the lid and open the toaster-grill.
12. Put the food on the bottom baking plate. Use wooden or plastic
utensils. Don’t use your fingers – it is really hot.
13. Close the lid. Don’t press it down – pressure will toughen meat
or poultry and crush fish.
14. Cooking time depends on the type, thickness, and volume of food
(see "Cooking times").
15. When the food’s finished, use the grill handle to lift the lid and
open the toaster-grill. You should still be wearing the oven gloves.
16. Use a wooden or plastic spatula or plastic tongs to remove the
food.
17. When you’ve finished, unplug the toaster-grill (switch the power
socket off first, if appropriate).
18. Let the tray for oil collecting cool a bit before emptying (take out
tray for oil collecting and empty it into a heatproof glass or metal
bowl, then give it a wipe with a piece of kitchen paper and put it back
under the front of the toaster-grill. Then remove the food crumbs with
a wooden or plastic spatula).
COOKING TIMES
1. There will be about 2-3 minutes for reaching the working tempera-
ture. The cooking time for fresh or fully defrosted foods are about 5-6
minutes, for frozen foods 8-9 minutes for seafood, and 10-12 minutes
for meat and poultry.
2. These times are given purely as a guide, depending on the thick-
ness of cut, and the density of the food.
3. Check that it’s cooked through before serving. If in doubt, cook it
a bit more.
4. Cook meat, poultry, and any derivatives (mince, burgers, etc.) until
the juices run clear. Cook fish until the flesh is opaque throughout.
5. When cooking pre-packed foods, follow any guidelines printed on
the packaging or labels.

USEFUL TIPS
1. For thicker slices of meat, the hinge between the base and the
lid is loose enough to allow you to lift the lid a little bit extra before
lowering it on to the food.
2. If the food is too thick to allow the lid to close properly, and the
ridges round the baking plates to overlap (or at least meet) then it
isn’t suitable for cooking in the toaster-grill.
3. You can raise the appliance up to 10 degree by the help of the
wheel which is situated on the back side of the toaster-grill. You should
twist the wheel clockwise to raise the toaster-grill, and counterclock-
wise to lower one.
So the juices of meat and other products can be dripped into the tray
for oil collecting easily.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
1. Firstly, disconnect the mains plug!
2. Only clean when the appliance has completely cooled down.
3. It is easiest to remove food crumbs on the baking surfaces of the
toaster grill with a wooden or plastic spatula, then wipe with a piece
of kitchen paper and a soft, damp cloth.
4. Remove and clean the tray for oil collecting.
5. Clean the housing surfaces of the toaster grill with a soft, damp
cloth.
6. Never use abrasive cleaning agents or sharp objects (e.g. scrubbing
brush or knife) for cleaning.
Note: do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
There is danger to life due to electric shock!
