OPERATING MANUAL DV-5325
Introduction
To obtain Maximum performance of this valve, please read and follow these instructions
carefully before operating.
Receiving Inspection Procedures
Carefully unpack the valve and examine the items contained in the carton.
These will include:
- Valve assembly
- Accessory Pack consisting of:
- Sample Needle Kit
- Sample Fluid Line
Inspect the valve for any damage that might have occurred in transit. If such damage
has occurred, notify the carrier immediately. Claims for damage must be made by the
consignee to the carrier and should be reported to the manufacturer.
Product Description
The DV-5325 Adjustable Mini Spool Valve is designed to dispense medium to high viscos-
ity material with very precise deposits over a wide range of shot and bead sizes down to
a fraction of a micro liter. An internal spring return makes the valve fully adaptable for use
VC-1000 time/pressure controllers. A short opening stroke provides extremely fast, positive
shut-off. An external adjustment makes it easy for the operator to fine tune“Suck-Back”. The
DV-5325’s compact design allows for mounting flexibility and easy integration into auto-
mated applications.

OPERATION
Valve Operation
The DV-5325 is a normally closed spool valve with
adjustable suck-back. Air pressure through port (1)
drives the spool assembly (2) forward opening the
material path from the material inlet (3) to the material
outlet (4). Return air (5) or return spring (6) reverses
the spool assembly travel to close the material path.
An oil cup (7) provides a moisture barrier for the seal
when dispensing a moisture sensitive material.
Typical Dispense Performance
Minimum Shot Size (water): = .002 ml
Flow Rate at 100 PSI (water): = 2700 ml/min
Operating Frequency: = 700 cycles/min
Material Viscosity Range: = Up to 1 Million CPS
Repeatability: = ±0.2%
Set-Up
Refer to illustration.
Note: This installation uses Luer Lock adapters shipped with the valve. Any
approved material line with 1/8“ N.P.T. connections will work.
1. If desired, mount the valve to the bracket included (8).
2. Connect material feed line to inlet port (3). Valve segment with inlet port can be rotated
up to 360° to provide repositioning of inlet port. Caution: Do not turn inlet
port far enough to disconnect from Air Cylinder.
3. Connect valve actuating air line to valve port (1 ) and to an approved valve
controller.
4. Pressurize material reservoir (Material pressure not to exceed 500 PSI).
5. Activate the valve until all air has been purged from Material Line. It may be helpful to
turn the valve upside down to purge air.
6. Attach desired dispense tip to the outlet Luer Lock adapter.

6
OPERATING MANUAL DV-5325
Valve Adjustment
Shot size and bead width are dependent on the following factors:
1. Length of actuation, set at controller (Valve open time).
2. Material supply pressure at reservoir.
3. Material viscosity.
4. Dispense tip size.
Suck-Back Adjustment
The DV-5325 Mini Spool Valve is equipped with a natural“suck-back” feature. When
closing, the valve will pull, or “suck-back” material into the material chamber thus
helping to prevent dripping. It is possible to adjust the amount of “suck-back” by turning
the adjustment knob on the back of the valve.
Note: There are two notches in the adjustment cap that mark the maximum and minimum
“suck-back” settings. Turning the adjustment knob into the valve past the minimum
mark will cause the valve to remain open. (see illustration below).

MAINTENANCE
Cleaning and Seal Replacement
Disassembly
(refer to diagram on page 10)
Tools Required O-ring removal tool (P/N TSD1597-7) and Retaining Ring Pliers
with 0.053” tip.
Caution: Disconnect all material and air pressure lines before performing any mainte-
nance on this valve.
Note: To prevent possible damage to seal components, following these instructions
in the following sequence is recommended. Refer to diagram on
page 10.
1. Remove all hoses and fittings from Valve Body (6).
2. Unscrew the End Cap (17). Remove retaining ring (24) and remove the Spring (11).
Carefully remove the Spool Assembly (12) by pulling straight out.
3. Hold the Valve Body (6) and rotate the Air Cylinder (15) counterclockwise. When com-
pletely un-threaded, pull the two valve segments straight apart to separate.
4. Using Retaining Ring Pliers, remove Retaining Ring (22). Remove Stainles Steel Washer
(5) from valve body.
5. Note orientation of the Seal (4) in Valve Body (6) prior to removal. Remove Seal.
6. Remove four [4] Socket Cap Screws (2) in Outlet Block (1) and separate Outlet Block (1)
from Valve Body (6).
7. Note orientation of Seal (4) in outlet block (1) and remove.
8. Clean and inspect Spool (12), Seal surface and Seals (4, 4 & 5) for wear and damage.
Replace parts as necessary.

Air Cylinder Seal Replacement (If Necessary)
Tools required: Internal retaining ring pliers with 0.035” tip.
O-ring tool P/N TSD1597-7.
Disassembly
Note: Refer to diagram on page 10.
1. Follow steps 1 through 3 of the disassembly section on page 7.
2. Remove Retaining Ring (7) with Retaining Ring Tool, then remove Nylon Washer (8)
from Air Cylinder (15).
3. Remove O-ring (10) using O-ring tool .
4. Clean and visually inspect all parts for damage. Replace as necessary. Reference Valve
Repair Kit #2: P/N 5325-000-010.
5. Lubricate O-ring (10) using approved lubricant and insert O-ring (10) into Air
Cylinder (15).
6. Insert Nylon Washer (8) and using Retaining Ring Pliers, secure Retaining Ring (7).
7. Reassemble valve per instructions in the reassembly section below.
Reassembly
Note: Make sure seals are oriented properly.
1. Insert Seal (4) into Valve Body (6) using a soft rod (such as a wooden dowel or a
pencil) to insure Seal is fully seated.
2. Insert Stainless Steel washer (5) and secure with Retaining Ring (22) using Retaining
Ring Pliers.
3. Thread the Air Cylinder (15) into the Valve Body (6) taking care not to cross thread
or over tighten.
4. Insert Seal (4) into the Outlet Block (1) and reassemble Outlet Block (1) to Valve Body
(6).
5. Install Spring (11).
6. Insert Spool Assembly (12) into Air Cylinder (15) and secure with retaining ring (24)
7. Thread end cap (17) into air cylinder assembly (15). Adjust to first mark in cap.
