Important Notice—Please Read
For Maximum System Performance, Vintage Air Recommends the Following:
Evacuate the system for 35-45 minutes with system components (Drier, compressor, evaporator and
condenser) at a temperature of at least 85° F. On a cool day, the components can be heated with a
heat gun OR by running the engine with the heater on before evacuating. Leak check and charge to
specifications.
The Proper Amount of Refrigerant is Critical to Proper System Operation.
Vintage Air Recommends Our System be Charged by Weight with a Quality
Charging Station or Scale.

Charge with 1.8 lbs. (1 lb., 12 oz.) of refrigerant.
Lubricant Capacities:
New Compressor—No Additional Oil Needed.
Used Compessor—Consult Vintage Air.
This control panel is designed to only work with a Gen IV evaporator unit equipped with a 246204-PUA
ECU. Please conrm that your unit has the proper ECU prior to installing the control panel as shown
below. A replacement ECU can be purchased from Vintage Air if needed.

Determine the orientation you want to use, horizontal or vertical, and install the label onto the 3-lever panel
assembly.
Install the (3) knobs onto the 3-lever panel assembly using the set screws as shown in Figure 1, Page 5.
NOTE: If mounting in vertical conguration, replace black oxide set screw with (3) stainless
steel set screws, Part #183989. If mounting in horizontal conguration use set screws included
with knobs.
After selecting the orientation for the panel, mask the area 2” (tall) x 4 ¼” (wide) for horizontal, 4 ¼” (tall)
x 2” (wide) for vertical.
Place and level the template onto the dash to cut out the opening.
WARNING! THIS OPENING MUST BE A PRECISE FIT. CUT OPENING UNDER SIZE, THEN FILE
TO FIT. IF THE OPENING IS OVERSIZED, THE PANEL MAY SHIFT DURING USE.

Install the 3-lever panel assembly into the dash by placing the control panel bracket behind the dash and
securing it to the 3-lever panel assembly using a 10-24 nylon locknut (See Figure 1, below).
Plug the control panel wiring harness into the 3-lever panel assembly and the ECU on the evaporator unit as
shown in Figure 2, below.
Wire according to the wiring diagram on Page 6.

operations. To activate A/C, move the temperature lever/knob all the way to cold and then back it off to the desired

desired vent temperature. The blower will momentarily change speed, each time you toggle between operations, to
indicate the change.
