Thank you for purchasing the FRED Light™by Wagan Tech®. With
normal care and proper treatment it will provide years of reliable
service. Please read all operating instructions carefully before use.
WARNINGS
• Always consult your local highway safety guidelines for
appropriate use and placement when using in emergency
roadside situations.
• After prolonged use in wet environments, remove the battery
cover and check for any moisture or condensation. Allow the unit
to dry out before re-use.
• All batteries discharge over time. Replace batteries every 6
months.
• This product contains strong magnets that may cause interference
with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices when
placed within a close proximity. Keep this product at least 6
inches from your chest if you have a pacemaker.

FEATURES
The FRED Light™has 10 flash patterns, including the U.S. Coast
Guard approved "SOS" morse code.It runs up to 38 hours in single-
blink mode with AAA Alkaline batteries (3 per unit).
• Superior Visibility: Super-bright LED array can be seen up to a
mile at night and also bright enough to provide extra protection
during the day as well.
• Lateral illumination: 360° coverage is provided (a common
weakness of other emergency lights).
• Attachable: Strong magnetic backing allows flare to stick well
to vehicles and extendable hook can be used to fasten flare to
backpacks and saddlebags.
• Compact: FRED Light™units are about the size of a hockey puck.
They can be mounted or stored just about anywhere on your bike.
• Versatile: FRED Light™units can be used for emergencies such as
traffic control, a warning light, and a rescue beacon. They can also
be used for recreational activities such as camping and biking.
• Watertight: Great for rainy weather and marine applications.
• Non-reactive: Flares can be used in places where old-fashioned
flares would be dangerous, such as in dry brush or in the
presence of gasoline.

USAGE
If your unit comes with batteries installed, there is battery separator
that needs to be removed prior to use. See Battery Replacement
section for instructions.
• To turn unit ON: Click the power button.
• To change mode: Press the power button gently until desired flash
pattern is found.
• To turn unit OFF: Click the power button.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
1. Unscrew the two screws completely on the bottom of the unit.
2. Note the orientation of the two tabs at top.
3. Pull firmly on the plastic tabs to remove the cover plate.
NOTE: The FRED Light has a very tight, waterproof seal. Initial
seal may be difficult to open. If you cannot do it with your
hands, you can use either a flat head screw driver or similar tool
to pry open the unit at the plastic tabs (flanges).
4. Replace the batteries in the proper orientation shown on the
battery holder. Always replace the whole set of batteries at one
time, taking care not to mix old and new ones or batteries of
different types.
5. Align the two tabs on the battery cover to the notches on the
outer enclosure. Cover will not seal properly if not aligned to the
notches.
6. Secure the screws to ensure proper seal.
