General information
Dear Webasto customer!
We are delighted that you have selected this Webasto product.
We assume that the workshop / service partner that carried out the installation
explained to you the operation and principle of functioning of your Telestart T91
to your complete satisfaction.
With these operating instructions we would like to provide you with an overview
of the use of the hand-held transmitter Telestart T91.

The heater must not be operated:
In filling stations, fuel depots and refineries.
In places where explosive vapours or dust may
build up (e.g. near fuel, coal, wood dust or cereal
stores).
Close to inflammable materials such as: Dry
grass and leaves, cardboard packaging, paper,
etc.
In enclosed rooms (e.g. garages), not even via
the timer or Telestart.
Care and handling
Note the following points to avoid damage to the Telestart T91:
Do not expose to heat above 70 °C (e.g. direct sunlight).
Operating temperature between 0 °C and +50 °C.
Only store in a dry place where there is little dust.
Do not immerse in water.
Danger of fire, explosion and
suffocation

Use
Using the Webasto Telestart T91, you can switch Webasto heaters (Thermo
Top E, Thermo Top C, Thermo Top P, Thermo Top V) or the vehicle fan on and
off at a long distance via a wireless link.
Toswitchontheparkingventilation*(ventilationoftheinteriorofthevehicle),the
mode has to be changed on the transmitter.
After being switched on, the auxiliary heating system switches itself off
automatically or is switched off by the automatic heating function once the
selected operating time has expired.
* The “parking ventilation“ function is not available with upgrade of auxiliary
heaters.

Optimum signal transmission is achieved out in the open or from a position
higher than the vehicle.In this case, the auxiliary heating system can be
operated at a distance of approx. 1000 m from the vehicle. Whenoperating the
transmitter, please hold it vertically pointing upward and do not cover the upper
side (see photo).
If you determine from the lack of feedback that the operating signal has not
reached the vehicle, then you must change your position by a few metres.
Reception quality is impaired accordingly in heavily built-up areas.

Programming Telestart Transmitter
1. Place batteries into the battery compartment of the transmitter.
2. Remove fuse 1A (black) from the heater's fuse holder
(voltage interruption).
3. Wait at least 5 seconds.
4. Replace fuse in heater's fuse holder and within 5 seconds press the
OFF-button on the transmitter for at least 1 second.
5. "Learning" is completed.
A second or third hand-held transmitter can be programmed in the same
manner.
NOTE:
The learning process can be repeated as often as necessary.The "oldest"
transmitter will be deleted each time.

Checking Mode
Simultaneously depress and hold down the ON- and
OFF-buttons.
LED illuminates:
red = heating mode
green = ventilating mode*
LED extinguishes:
– when the buttons are released, or
– after 10 seconds
*The “parking ventilation“ function is not available with upgrade of auxiliary
heaters.
Mode setting
Depress the ON- and OFF buttons simultaneously twice
within one second.
Uponthesecondactuation,theLEDwillchangeitscolour
and illuminate until the buttons are released.
The new mode is stored when the button is released.

Feedback from transmitter upon turning on/off
Switch on heater or ventilation*
Hold the transmitter with the aerial upright and press the
ON button until the LED lights up (approx. 1 second).
The transmitter will send a feedback signal.
The LED on the hand-held transmitter indicates whether
the signal has been received. After the signal has been
received, the heating or ventilation operation is indicated
by means of brief blinking signals (every 2 seconds).The
operation indicator extinguishes:
– After the preset operating time has elapsed
– When Telestart is switched off.
* The “parking ventilation“ function is not available with upgrade of auxiliary
heaters.
The LED on the transmitter
lights up for 2 seconds:
red = heating mode
green = ventilation mode
The signal has been received and the heater /
vehicle fan switched on or off.
The LED on the transmitter
flashes for 2 seconds. Error during signal transmission. Change your
location and repeat transmission.

NOTE:
In the 'heating' mode, the vehicle's heating system is to be set to "warm" prior
to leaving the vehicle. In the 'heating' and 'ventilation' modes*, the vehicle's fan
switch is to be turned to position 1 in the case of 3-speed blower fans, and to
position 2 in the case of 4-speed blowers. In the case of infinitely variable fans
adjust to at least 1/3 of the fan's capacity.
* The “parking ventilation“ function is not available with upgrade of auxiliary
heaters.
Switching off heater or ventilation
Hold the transmitter with the aerial upright and press the
OFF button until the LED lights up (approx. 1 second).
The transmitter will send a feedback signal.
Switching off using pushbutton switch
If the heater was activated by means of Telestart, the pushbutton switch must
be pressed once for deactivation.

Switching on/off using pushbutton switch
The parking heater or parking ventilation mode is indicated by a light in the
pushbutton.
NOTE:
When the pushbutton switch is used for activating the heater, the operating
mode (parking heating or parking ventilation) and operating duration most
recently used with Telestart T91 will be selected.
Switching on using a digital timer
Operation is indicated on the digital timer. The display lighting lights up.
NOTE:
When the digital timer is used for activating the heater, the operating mode
(parking heating or parking ventilation) most recently used with Telestart T91 will
be selected.The operating duration, however, is governed by the digital timer.
Switching off using a digital timer
If the heater was activated using Telestart, the 'instant heat' must be pressed
twice to deactivate the heater.

Checking and Setting Operating Time
The operating time of the heater or the vehicle's fan can be preset on the
transmitter in increments of 10 minutes.The operating time is factory-set at 30
minutes.
NOTE:
We recommend setting the heating time according to the drive time.
Example: The vehicle is used for travelling to work and back.
With a driving time of approx. 30 minutes (one way), we recommend setting an
operating time of 30 minutes.

Checking Operating Time
Simultaneously actuate the ON- and OFF buttons within
one second three times in succession.
NOTE:
The first coded flashing signal that is emitted
immediately upon the third actuation of both buttons
has to be included into the count.
The LED flashes in accordance with the preset operating time.

Setting the Operating Time
Press the OFF button to call up the next operating time.
To store the setting:
– do not actuate any button for 10 seconds, or
– actuate the ON button.
Returning to Default Setting
Press the ON- and OFF buttons simultaneously for
approx. 10 seconds until the LED extinguishes.

Note
Return batteries of our products after use at the
point of purchase or in its immediate vicinity.
Returning them is free. As end user you are
legally obliged to return used batteries.
Caution!
Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an
incorrect type! Dispose of the used batteries
according to the instructions. This product is
subject of the European directive 2002/96EC and
EN 50419. Dispose information shall be given
either at the sample or in the user instruction.
