Thank for choo ing to purcha e thi Whyte product. We hope you will enjoy all the bene-
fit it advanced de ign and engineering will bring to your riding experience.
Thi manual will guide you through the et-up, afety and maintenance procedure that
are pecific to your Whyte bike. For other more general information, we trongly advi e
that you al o read thoroughly the General In truction Manual that i al o upplied with
your new bike.
Al o, plea e note that the pecification of all the component that are fitted to your bike a
tandard may be obtained from the Whyte Bike Brochure or alternatively from the Whyte
Bike web ite www.whytebikes.co.uk

3.0: PREPARATIONS FOR RIDING
3.1: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS
Plea e refer to the pecific component manufac-
turer manual or publi hed technical information
about adju ting the component on your Whyte
bike. In truction may be downloaded from the
relevant manufacturer’ internet ite, a hown in
the table to the right.
If you are uncertain in any way, about making
adju tment to any component on you Whyte
bike, then DO NOT RIDE YOUR BIKE. Contact your
Whyte dealer who will be able to advi e you on
how to go about etting up you Whyte for riding,
and or making adju tment to the component
fitted to your Whyte.
3.2: SET UP OF FORK
Tools Required: Good Quality Shoc Pump.
Small Ruler
The front fork will be pre- et with the tandard etting when you buy your Whyte. Before
riding, you will need to adju t the Sag etting on the fork. Thi i to en ure the fork are et-
up correctly for your own body weight, o the fork will perform a intended.
To et Sag on a front fork, you need to mea ure the amount the fork compre e when you
it on the bike in the normal riding po ition. We recommend for the be t performance to run
approximately (16%) Sag on the front fork.
Sag on and air prung fork i controlled by adju ting the Air Spring pre ure. We recommend
you refer to your fork owner manual or releveant web ite for detailed information about
your fork et up and performance relating to all control and feature of your fork.
Rebound Damping adju tment:
Thi adju tment fine-tune the peed at which the wheel return to it normal ride height
after hitting a bump. To demon trate the effect of thi function, turn the rebound adju ter to

it lowe t etting. Pre down on the handlebar to compre the fork , then relea e the
load. The u pen ion recover very lowly to it original po ition.
Repeat the above with the adju ter turned to the fa te t etting and the difference will be
een immediately the load i relea ed. We recommend the optimum etting i to adju t
the re-bound damping to be a low a po ible, but not o low that the normal ride
height i not recovered. On very rough terrain, if the bike become progre ively lower a
more bump are hit then the re-bound damping i et too low. On the other hand if the
bike feel choppy and not plu h then the re-bound damping i too fa t. A bit of trial and
error i needed to get the exact etting. WARNING. Only make adju tment to your fork
while tationary, and not when riding.
4.0: SAFETY
IMPORTANT: The following are intended to be advi ory note on the afe u e of your
Whyte bike. You hould al o read thoroughly the General In truction Manual al o upplied
with your new bike. If at any tage you are uncertain about the afety or afe operation of
the bike a a whole, or any pecific component, then DO NOT RIDE YOUR WHYTE and
in tead plea e con ult the pecific component manufacturer in truction manual or your
Whyte Dealer for advice.
Ma imum Rider Weight Limit for Whyte C7, R7 & CX series’: 19 Stone/120kg
WARNING: A i the ca e with all mechanical component , the bicycle i ubjected
to wear and high tre e . Different material and component may react to wear
and tre fatigue in different way . If the de ign life of a component ha been ex-
ceeded, it may fail uddenly cau ing po ible injury to the rider. Any form of crack,
cratche and decolouring in highly tre e area are howing that the component
ha exhau ted it life time and ha to be replaced. If you are in any doubt about
one or more component on your Whyte DO NOT RIDE YOUR BIKE. Con ult the
pecific component manufacturer literature, or take your bike to your local Whyte
Dealer.
CAUTION: The e bike have di c brake a tandard equipment. It i NOT PERMIT-
TED to convert the braking y tem to a rim brake type, ince the frame ha only
been te ted for di c brake u e and al o becau e the wheel rim are not uitable to
be u ed a a braking urface. Making uch a modification of component will al o
void the warranty.
Designed for the following use:
The bicycle in the Whyte C7 & R7 erie ’ have all been de igned, te ted and comply with
BS EN 14764 Standard, for typical road or path cycling u e. They have not been de igned
or te ted for mountain biking or for u e in competition.
The bicycle in the Whyte CX erie have all been de igned, te ted and comply with BS EN
14764 Standard, for typical road or path cycling u e. Al o for Cyclo-Cro competition
(when fitted with appropriate off-road tyre ). They have not been de igned or te ted for
mountain biking u e.
