COOKTOP INSTALLATION
GAS LEAK TESTING
Use a brush an liqui etergent to test all gas
connections for leaks. Bubbles aroun connec-
tions will in icate a leak. If a leak appears, shut
off gas valve controls an a just connections.
Then check connections again. Clean all the
etergent solution from the cooktop.
COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION
Once the cooktop has been checke for any
gas leaks, plug the power supply cor into the
groun e electrical outlet.
Place the burner hea on the burner base an
position the burner grate over the burner
assembly.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Do not seal the cooktop
to the countertop. It must be remove if
service is necessary.
S U R FA C E BURNERS
INITIAL LIGHTING
The cooktop burner uses an electronic igniter
in place of a stan ing pilot. When the cooktop
control knob is pushe in an turne to the
position, the system creates a spark to
light the burner. This sparking continues for 4
secon s or until the electronic ignition senses
a flame, which ever comes first. If the igniter
fails to ignite the gas in 4 secon s, the gas
safety shutoff valve will close, eliminating the
gas flow for 5 secon s. The valve will reopen
after the purge time of 5 secon s, an the
igniter will automatically attempt to re-ignite
the gas. This cycle of events is attempte 3
times. After the thir attempt, in or er for gas
to flow to the burner once again, the user must
return the knob to the position an then
turn the knob to the position.
To check operation of the cooktop burner, push
in an turn the control knob to the
position. The flame shoul light within four
secon s.
If the burner oes not light properly, turn the
control knob to the position. Check that
the burner hea is in the proper position.
Check that the power supply cor is plugge in
an that the circuit breaker or house fuse has
not blown.
Check operation again; If flame is not estab-
lishe within the ignition cycle time, release
the knob, open a oor an wait 1 minute
before attempting a new ignition proce ure.
If the flames are extinguishe - for any reason
whatever - turn OFF the control knob an wait
at least 1 minute before retrying to ignite the
burner.
Ensure that the flames o not extinguish when
you re uce to low flame quickly. Check correct
operation of each burner in ivi ually an in
combination.
Flames shoul be clear blue, with no yellow
tipping. If the burners show any abnormaility
check that burner hea s are correctly locate
an refer to the ‘trouble shooting’ gui e on
page 13 of the Use & Care manual. If satisfac-
tory performance can not be obtaine , contact
Multyflex. For service contact number refer
page 12 of this booklet.
Never test for a gas leak with a match or
other flame.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Initial lighting of the
cooktop burner may take slightly longer as
air in the system must be purge before
gas can be supplie to the burner.
