Operator’s Manual
Your Summit Powered Sit-to-Stand is designed for assisting patients with partial weight bearing ability
to stand and transfer.
• Bed to Chair transfer.
• Wheelchair repositioning.
• Easy access for wheelchair.
• Total adjustability for convenience and usability.
• Sturdy dependability.
The Summit is a mobile powered sit-to-stand for people with impaired mobility. Used in conjunction with
the proper accessories, the Summit will assist a patient to a standing or semi-standing position with
comfort and convenience. It provides support under the feet, against the shins and behind the back.
The Summit has a compact footprint allowing for greater maneuverability in tight spaces.
Intended for use in acute care, long-term care, and outpatient care. It is not
recommended for use in a shower.
Prior to using the Summit for transfer or any other procedure, the patient must be
assessed by a qualified professional to determine the suitability of using the Summit
with that patient. Patients should be partial weight bearing, have upper body strength
and be able to follow instructions.
Remove the transport plastic bag on handset cable and mains cable before use.
Cables must be fixed to the application or placed in such a way that users cannot
stumble and injure themselves.
With the footrest removed the Summit can be used to assist in weight bearing rehabilitation and balance
training.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS FOR ALL PROCEDURES:
1. The Summit is designed to be used ONLY on level surfaces.
2. ALWAYS unlock the wheels while lifting and lowering the patient.
3. Inspect the lift functions prior to any patient use. Ensure all functions are in proper working
order.
4. Prior to using the Summit for transfer, the patient must be assessed by a qualified professional
to determine the suitability of using the Summit with that patient.
5. Never leave the patient unattended while strapped to the Summit, or during any portion of the
lift procedure.
6. Ensure the patient has the sling mounted properly around the waist with arms outside the sling
and straps.
7. Never move the lift using the actuators as handles.
8. Warranty applies only if repairs or alterations are performed by an authorized technician.
9. Never exceed the safe working load. SWL is 500 lbs.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTION:
1. Do not power wash the Summit.
2. Painted and plastic surfaces (other than electronics): When cleaning and disinfecting, use a
5.25% chlorine bleach dilution and an EPA registered Hard Surface Disinfectant on painted
and plastic surfaces. On all exposed metallic surfaces use an EPA registered Hard Surface
disinfectant wipe that does not contain sodium hypochlorite (bleach).
3. Electronics: Ensure actuators are at their minimum stroke before cleaning. Organic solvents
like halogenide/aromatic hydrocarbons and ketones must not be used. Observe the following
regarding detergents and disinfectants on electronic components:
a. Do not use strong alkaline or acidic compounds (pH value 6-8).
b. Compounds must not contain corrosive or caustic material.

PRIOR TO FIRST USE:
The battery must be charged for 24 hours in order to reach proper function and prolong
the lifetime of the batteries.
Ensure all cables are completely inserted. A light film of silicon grease may be dabbed
onto o-ring to allow easier insertion.
The duty cycle on the control box product label must always be noted. Otherwise, there
is a risk of damaging the products. Exceeding the duty cycle will result in a dramatic
reduction of the lifetime of the system. Unless specified otherwise on the product label,
the duty cycle is max. 10% : Max. 2 minutes in the use followed by 18 minutes not in use.
If any individual parts are suspected to be damaged, do not operate the parts, but return
them for inspection/service.

OPERATING THE SUMMIT POWERED SIT-TO-STAND:
1. Secure Sling to patient. Follow sling instructions for proper fit, placement and use.
2. ENSURE patient is able to sit in an upright posture and position the Summit as shown in (Fig. 4).
3. OPEN the LEGS of the Summit to fit around a chair or wheelchair.
4. Move lift toward patient until patient’s feet are fully supported by footrest and patient’s legs are
positioned as close to a 90 degree angle as possible. (Fig. 4).
5. Summit wheels should remain unlocked to allow lift to move to center of gravity and prevent lift
from tipping.
Figure 4 Figure 5
6. Adjust shin guard to ensure patient’s shins are flush with the shin guard. Adjust shin guard to ensure
it rests two inches or more below patient’s knees. Lock Cam Lever.
7. EXTEND the HANDLEBAR (Fig. 5) until it is as close to the patient as possible, with patient sitting in
an upright posture (Fig. 4). (To extend the handlebar, PULL UP on the yellow knob on the lift arm.)
8. With patient sitting as upright as possible, hold the straps out toward the handlebar and select the
LOOP color that reaches the handlebar/hook junction. Place loop UNDER the handlebar and hooks

13. DO NOT leave the patient in a position where they are supported solely by the sling.
14. Move the lift to the location of intended transfer.
15. Position patient at intended receiving surface – the back of the patient’s legs should touch the receiving
surface. Wheels remain unlocked.
16. LOWER the LIFT ARM while ensuring the patient’s arc of decent will allow proper seating without shearing
action against their sacrum or spine.
17. Once the patient is securely seated (ensure the patient is not seated on the edge of the destination seat!)
REMOVE the SLING LOOPS from the sling hooks on the handlebar.
18. Move lift clear of the patient.
19. CLOSE LEGS.

Battery packs may emit hydrogen gas. Do not bring fire or a heated object close to the
battery pack, and never use the battery near a spark, fuses and/or equipment that emits
sparks. Further, do not store the battery in a closed environment or incorporate it into a
closed structure of an enclosure. Doing so may cause an explosion, fire, equipment damage,
and bodily injury.
STANDBY MODE
When the BAJL Li-Ion is not being used for a longer period - more than a week - or when it
is on stock, it enters into a standby mode to save power and protect the battery from deep
discharge.
• Connect the charger for approx. 15 seconds to exit the standby mode before use.
• There is no audio signal to indicate the standby mode or to indicate exit of standby mode.
AFTER EXIT OF THE STANDBY MODE
If there is still no power on, the battery needs to be charged.
After charging, the hand control and/or the control box will indicate the battery capacity level
again.
DEEP DISCHARGE PROTECTION
The BAJL Li-Ion has a deep discharge protection to extend the battery life.
The deep discharge protection is activated when the battery is discharged.
• Connect the charger for approx. 15 seconds to exit the deep discharge mode before use.
If the battery is completely discharged, the charging will be started at a very small rate to
protect the battery. This small charging rate is not sufficient to turn on the light in the charger,
and therefore the user may believe the system has not yet started.
Depending on the battery state, it may take several hours to get to the normal charging state.
The orange light of the control box will not be turned on as the operation is analogue. It is
therefore not possible to see the charging has started, however, only at a low level.
Do not connect the positive terminal and the negative terminal of the battery packs with a
wire or other metals.
Short-circuiting the terminals of the battery can cause burn injuries, damage to the storage
battery or trigger explosions.
Never connect the battery packs directly to a power supply socket or an automobile’s
cigarette lighter without using a charger as a medium. Connecting the battery directly can
cause the battery to leak fluid, generate heat, explode, cause fires, or bodily burns and
injuries.
Battery packs contain dilute sulphuric acid, which is a toxic substance. If battery fluid
leakage were to occur and make contact with skin or clothing, wash completely with clean
water. Additionally, if the fluid gets in your eyes, wash them with clean water immediately, and
see a doctor. When dilute sulphuric acid enters the eye, it can cause a loss of eyesight and
skin exposure can cause a burn on your skin.
