Locatethesmallholeatthebottomofthescanner.Useametallicpinandinsertintothe
hole.Gentlypullthestrain‐reliefofthecabletoremovethecablefromthescanner.

Followthestepsbelowtoconnecttheinterfacecabletothehost.
1. Connectthehost‐endoftheinterfacecabletotheappropriateconnectoronthe
hostsystem.
2. Forthosecaseswhereexternalpowerisused,plugtheexternalACpoweradapter
intothejackontheinterfacecable.
PowerConnection
Thescannerturnsonwhenpowerissupplied,andturnsoffwhenpowerisremoved.
Thereisnoon/offswitchonthescanneritself.
Thescannerrequiresaminimumof2Wat5VDCpower.Theinterfacecablethatcomes
withthescannersupportsbothdirectpower(wherethescannertakespowerfromthe
hostmachine)andexternalpower(that’swhatthesuppliedpoweradapterisfor).A
sufficientlyrobustPOSsystemcansupportascannersuccessfullywithoutexternalpower;
aPOSsystemwithabarelyadequatepowersupplymayproduceerraticperformance
(eitherofthePOSsystemitself,orofthescanner,orboth)whenascannerisattached.
Toensuresteadyperformance,thehostsystemshouldbecapabletosupplyaminimum
of400mAofcurrent@5VDC.UnlessyouaresureyourPOSsystemcanhandlesuch
loading,itisrecommendedthatyouusethequalifiedpoweradapter.Whenanexternal
adapterisconnected,thescannerwillautomaticallyswitchoffthedirectpowerfrom
hosttoscanner.
UseonlyanAC/DCpoweradapterapprovedforthescanner.Useofother
powersuppliesmaycausedamagetothescanner,andvoidthefactory
warranty.
