The 83350 Telephone Gateway is part of the Welcome door communication system and operates exclusively with
components from this system.
The product serves for connecting a telephone system to a Welcome system, so that the connected telephones will act
as audio indoor stations.
For using the Telephone Gateway it is necessary to configure the device as an analogue subscriber of your telephone
system.
4.1 Glossary
1. Default phone number: when the Default phone number is active,call for all Indoor Stations will be
redirected to this Default phone number.
2. Primary and secondary phone number: when Primary or secondary phone number is active for an Indoor
Station, calls for this Indoor Station will be redirected to this Primary or secondary phone number. It is
possible to toggle between these two numbers.
3. Direct-accept: When this function is active, a user can answer a door call directly by picking up the handset.
If deactivated, the user has to press the keys [1] [#] after picking up the handset. If other indoor stations than
the telephone gateway itself are installed in an apartment, the direct accept function has to be deactivated.
4. Admin PIN: this PIN is used as an administrator password to access the programming mode of the
telephone gateway where the Default phone number, Direct-accept feature etc, can be set. It’s suggested
that only the administrator knows this PIN.
5. Master PIN: this PIN is used to activate/deactivate the Default phone number for all Indoor Stations. It’s
suggested that e.g. the receptionist of a company knows this PIN.
6. Indoor Station PIN: this PIN is used as an enduser password to protect your telephone gateway from
misuse or unauthorized access e.g. toggling between primary and secondary target phone number or calling
an outdoor station to open the door. This PIN has to be activated if this additional security level is required.

4.2 Functioning
The Telephone Gateway is an analogue subscriber of your telephone system. The device includes a telephone
book, in which every indoor station address (bell button) is linked to up to two telephone numbers (Primary and
secondary number). Additionally a default phone number can be programmed. When the Default phone number is
active,calls for all Indoor Stations will be redirected to this default phone number.
The telephone book can contain internal or external numbers.

Note
The telephone gateway is always set as master. The related indoor stations in the same
appartment have always to be set as slave (Please refer to the operating manual of the indoor
stations.).
5.1 Integration of the Telephone Gateway in your telephone system
The procedure of integrating the Thelephone Gateway into your system depends on the telephone system and
can vary. Please refer to the topic “Integration of analogue subscribers” in the manual of your telephone system.
The integration of the Telephone Gateway is succsessfull, if it can be called by other participants and can call
others by itself.
Note
System security
Avoid misuse by intruders and configure your telephone system in a way, that the
Telephone Gateway can not directly be called from an external telephone. This will
prevent unauthorised access of intruders.
If it is necessary to have external access to the Gateway, please activate the indoor station PIN
(See Page 9).

6.1 Requirements for the electrician
Warning
Electric voltage!
Install the device only if you have the necessary electrical engineering knowledge and experience.
• Incorrect installation endangers your life and that of the user of the electrical system.
• Incorrect installation can cause serious damage to property, e.g. due to fire.
The minimum necessary expert knowledge and requirements for the installation are as follows:
• Apply the "five safety rules" (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110):
1. Disconnect the power;
2. Secure against being reconnected;
3. Ensure there is no voltage;
4. Connect to earth;
5. Cover or barricade adjacent live parts.
• Use suitable personal protective clothing.
• Use only suitable tools and measuring devices.
• Check the type of supply network (TN system, IT system, TT system) to secure the following
power supply conditions (classic connection to ground, protective earthing, necessary
additional measures, etc.).

The following components are required to operate the Telephone Gateway:
- A Welcome door communication system including the System Controller and at least one Outdoor station.
- A PBX with analogue input
- At least one telephone for configuring via DTMF
For the initial startup of the Telephone Gateway, a few basic settings need to be made.
Two options are available for commissioning:
1. Via telephone, connected to the system
2. Via Internet browser and IP-Gateway 83342-xxx. For configuring the Telephone Gateway via the IP Gateway,
please see the manual of the IP Gateway.
