2 UNPACKING YOUR PHONE

Keep the packing materials in a safe place in case you later need to transport the unit.
3 INTENDED USE
This telephones is intended to be connected to a public analogue telephone network or to an
analogue extension of an approved compatible PBX system.
4 GETTING TO KNOW YOUR PHONE

5 INSTALLATION
1. Locating the base unit (See P2 and P3)
The base unit should be placed on a level surface, in a position where:
•the telephone line cable will reach your telephone line socket or extension socket.
•it is not close to a sink, bath or shower, or anywhere else where it might get wet.
•it is not close to other electrical equipment - fridges, washing machines, microwave ovens, TVs,
fluorescent lights, etc.
2. Plug the coiled handset cord into the handset

4. Plug the telephone line cord into the phone line socket at the back of the base unit

5. Lift the handset and check for dial tone in the earpiece.

6 DESK/WALL MOUNT INSTALLATION
1. Desk mount
Place the Base unit on any flat surface in a suitable location.

2. Wall mount
To place the Style 5 phone on a wall, mark two points on the wall that are 84mm apart for the screw
positions, as shown below.

BE CAREFUL to check that there are no pipes or electrical wires hidden in the wall.
Fix two screws (7mm head screws required, not supplied) at the marked locations, leaving approximately
7mm between the wall and the screw head.
Hang the telephone on the screws using the wall mount slots. You may need adjust the screws so that
the telephone is securely fixed and does not wobble.
Place the handset on the cradle with the parking hook on the cradle arranged to fit in the parking
recess under the earpiece on the handset.

7 TELEPHONE OPERATIONS
7.1 Timer display
The Style 5 phone is equipped with a timer display that shows the duration of a call.
The timer will automatically stop after the call has ended.
To display the duration of the last outgoing call.
•Lift the Handset.
•Press the button.
> The LCD screen shows the duration of the last outgoing call, example ‘ 00:05 ’
To restart/stop the timer during a call;
•When you dial the telephone number , the timer wil automatically start after 7 seconds.
OR
•Press the button while the dialled digits are still displayed to start the time.
> The LCD screen starts timing from ‘ 00:00 ’
•To stop, press the button again.
•To continue the timer , press the button again.
7.2 Making a call
•Lift the Handset, listen for a dial tone.
> The LCD screen starts timing from ‘ 00:00 ’.
•Dial the telephone number you wish to call.
> The LCD screen shows the number as you dial (maximum of 10 digits will be shown).
•To end the call, replace the Handset on to the Base unit.
7.3 To end a callReceiving
•When the phone rings, pick up the Handset to answer the call.
•To end the call, replace the Handset on to the Base unit .
7.4 To boost the handset earpiece volume
During a call:
To boost the volume of the handset to a louder volume level, silde the Handset volume switch located
on the side of the handset to VOL + position.
7.5 Last number redial
•Lift the Handset
•Press the button.
> The phone automatically dials the last number you called (maximum of 48 digits).
7.6 Mute Function
•During a call, press and hold the button.
>When the mouthpiece is muted , the person at the other end of the call cannot hear you but you
can hear his side.
•To get back to the call , release the button.
7.7 Inserting a Pause in the dialling sequence
For some switchboard systems, an access number must be dialled (usually an 8 or 9) to get another
dial tone and an outside line.
•Press the button after dialling any digits , a pause of about 3.6 seconds will be entered , and the
rest of the desired number can be dialled immediately.
•Press the button to insert a pause when dialling or storing Long Distance Access Codes.

7.8 Recall(Flash) function
If you are using your Style 5 phone on a telephone line or a PBX(Private Exchange), and the user guide
tells you to press RECALL or FLASH;
•Press the button on your Style 5 phone to send a Timed Break Recall signal.
7.9 Ringer volume
Use the Ringer volume switch on the underside of the Base to adjust the ringer volume.

7.10 Memory Dialling
Storing a Number in Memory
•Lift the Handset.
•Press the button.
> The LCD screen shows ‘ E ’
•Enter the telephone number, maximum of 20 digits.
>If you try to enter more than 20 digits during programming, only the first 20 digits will be stored.
•Press the button.
•Press the desired memory location button.
> ( 0-9 for two touch memory , or M1 for one touch memory.)
•Hang up the Handset.
Note:
1. If you make a mistake , hang up the Handset and repeat the procedure for storing a number from
the beginning.
2. All memories will be erased if the Style 5 is disconnected from the telephone line for too long , e.g.
longer than 30 minutes.
Speed dialling using the One Touch memory location;
•Lift the Handset.
•Press the One Touch memory location M1 button.
>The number dials automatically.
Speed dialling using the Two Touch memory locations;
•Lift the Handset.
•Press the button.
>The LCD screen shows ‘LOAD’.
•Press 0~9 for the memory location.
>The number dials automatically.
Memory Check
To check the number stored in a memory location.
•Lift the handset.
•Press the button.
•Press the memory location button (M1,0~9).
>The LCD screen displays the last 10 digits of the stored number.
To clear a memory location.
•Lift the handset.
•Press the button twice.
•Press the memory location button (M1,0~9)

Chain dialling from Memory
Use this feature to make calls which require a sequence of numbers, where you can dial each part of
the sequence from a different memory. For example
The Number for Memory Location
•1st number 7
•2nd code 8
•3rd number 9
•Lift the Handset
•Press the MEMORY tutton and then press 7
•When you hear the access tone press the button and then press 8
•At the next access tone press the button and then press 9.
8 TROUBLESHOOTING
The Style 5 telephone must be serviced by trained engineers. NEVER attempt any repairs or
adjustments yourself - you could make the problem worse and invalidate the Guarantee.
ALWAYS check first that:
•you have followed the steps listed in section 2 to install and set up your Style 5 phone.
•all connectors are firmly inserted in their sockets.
•Everyday use.
“I cannot make or answer calls.”
•Make sure you’re using the telephone line cable that was supplied with your Style 5 phone. Other
telephone line cables might not work.
“The phone does not ring.”
•Make sure you‘re using the telephone line cable that was supplied with your Style 5 phone . Ot h e r
telephone line cables might not work.
•Check that the total REN value of all equipment connected to your telephone line is not more than

•Make sure you‘re using the telephone line cable that was supplied with your Style 5 phone Other

If the fault persists...
•Disconnect all other instruments connected to the same line as the Style 5 phone and see whether
you can make a call.
•Disconnect the base unit from the telephone line and plug a different phone into the master
telephone socket. Try making a call, and if this works, the line is OK.
•If the call does not work, and you are using a two-way socket adapter remove it and plug a telephone
directly into the socket. If the call now works, the adapter may be faulty.
•If you cannot make a call, the fault may be on the exchange line, so contact the service provider or
your telephone line company).

9 GUARANTEE AND SERVICE
The unit is guaranteed for 24 months from the date of purchase shown on your sales receipt. This
guarantee does not cover any faults or defects caused by accidents, misuse, fair wear and tear, neglect,
faults on the telephone line, lightning, tampering with the equipment, or any attempt at adjustment or
repair other than through approved agents.
Please keep your sales (till) receipt this is your proof of guarantee.
9.1 While the unit is under Guarantee
•Disconnect the base unit from the telephone line and the mains electricity supply.
•Pack up all parts of your unit, using the original package.
•Return the unit to the shop where you bought it, making sure you take your sales receipt.
•Remember to include the mains adapter.
9.2 After the Guarantee has expired

12 DISPOSAL OF THE DEVICE (ENVIRONMENT)
At the end of the product lifecycle, you should not throw this product into the normal household
garbage but bring the product to a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic
equipments. The symbol on the product, user guide and/or box indicate this. Some of the product
materials can be re-used if you bring them to a recycling point. By reusing some parts or raw materials
from used products you make an important contribution to the protection of the environment. Please
contact your local authorities in case you need more information on the collection points in your area.
Batteries must be removed before disposing of the device. Dispose of the batteries in an
environmental manner according to your country regulations.
13 CLEANING AND CARE
Do not clean any part of your phone system with benzene, thinners or other solvent chemicals as this
may cause permanent damage which is not covered by the Guarantee.
When necessary, clean it with a damp cloth.
Keep your phone system away from hot, humid conditions or strong sunlight, and don‘t let it get
wet.
