This symbol on the instrument indicates a WARNING and that
the operator must refer to the user manual for instructions
before operating the instrument. In this manual, the symbol

reactivated.

OPERATION
4.1 AC Current Measurement
• Turntherotaryrangeswitchtothe range.
• Pressthelevertoopenthejaws.
• Clampthejawsaroundtheconductortobemeasured.
• Immediately unclamp the meter from the conductor under test if
overload" "isdisplayed.
• If reading is unstable and is hard to read, push the HOLD button
and read the measurement.

WARNING: When testing continuity, make sure that there
isnopowerinthetestedsampleorcircuit(deadcircuit).
This may be checked by using the voltage functions.

5.1 Warning!
• Removethetestleadsonanyinputbeforeopeningthecase.
• Donotoperatetheclamp-onprobewithoutabatterycasecover.
• Toavoidelectricalshock,donotattempttoperformanyservicing
unlessyouarequaliedtodoso.
• Toavoidelectricalshockand/ordamagetotheinstrument,donot
getwaterorotherforeignagentsintotheprobe.
5.2 Cleaning
• Tocleantheprobe,wipethecasewithadampclothandmilddeter-
gent.
• Donotuseabrasivesorsolvents.
• Donotgetwaterinsidethecase.Thismayleadtoelectricalshock
or damage to the instrument.

5.3 Battery Replacement
The clamp-on meter Model 500 is powered by twoAA 1.5V batter-
ies. The symbolwillappearontheLCDdisplaywhenthesupply
voltagedrops belowproperoperatingrange.This indicatesthatthe
batteries need to be changed. It is recommended to replace both bat-
teries at the same time.
• The meter must be in the OFF position and disconnected from
any circuit or input.
• Placethemeterfacedownandloosenthebatterycoverscrew
withaatheadscrewdriver.
• Replacetheoldbatterieswithtwofresh1.5VAAAsizebatteries.
• Replacethebatterycompartmentcoverandtightendownthe
screw.

TheModel500iswarrantedtotheownerforaperiodofoneyearfromthedateof
originalpurchaseagainstdefectsinmanufacture.Thislimitedwarrantyisgiven
by AEMC®Instruments,notbythedistributorfromwhomitwaspurchased.This
warrantyisvoidiftheunithasbeentamperedwith,abusedorifthedefectis
related to service not performed by AEMC®Instruments.

year period, you may return the instrument to us for repair or replacement
