1 INTRODUCTION
Alstom P50 Agile Configurator is a software tool used for interfacing with P50 Agile devices. This
section provides a brief overview of the P50 Agile Configurator to familiarise the users with all the
features & functions.
1.1 Overview of the Alstom P50 Agile Configurator
The Alstom P50 Agile Configurator provides support for P50 Agile devices, allowing user access to
device settings and commands .The P50 Agile configurator is compatible with Windows XP/7/8
operating systems.
The P50 Agile Configurator enables user to manage the P50 Agile devices on their system. The
program allows the user to build a list of devices and organise them in the same manner as they
physically exist in a system. Settings parameters can be created for each device and uploaded;
devices can be supervised directly from the configurator tool.

2 INSTALLATION AND SETUP
This section describes in detail how to install and configure the P50 Agile Configurator software.
2.1 Minimum system requirements
•Processors: 1GHz or above processor recommended
•RAM: 512 MB or above
•Operating System :
Windows XP with service pack 2 or later
Windows 7 (32- bit or 64 bit)
Windows 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)
2.2 Installing P50 Agile Configurator
The P50 Agile Configurator comes as a single installation file named P50AgileConfigurator.exe.
To install, double click on P50AgileConfiguratorSetup.exe.
The following window will appear:

Please read the Software License Agreement carefully, and then tick the box “I agree to the license
terms and conditions” to proceed. Next, click install:

Please wait while setup progresses or click Cancel to abort the installation.
For 32-bit Operating system: While installation is in progress, the below pop-up window will appear:

Click Setup to proceed. A Windows Security screen shown below might appear - click Install this
driver software anyway to proceed.

For 64-bit system: The below USB Driver installation window will appear.

This will start the P50 USB Driver installation. Click Next.

Click Finish to complete the P50 Agile USB Driver installation. This also completes the installation of
P50 Agile Configurator. Click Close to start using the P50 Agile Configurator.

In addition to installing the required files on your system, the installation will:
•Create a shortcut in the Start->Programs menu to access the features of the P50 Agile
Configurator.

•Create a desktop icon for the P50 Agile Configurator.

2.3 Uninstalling P50 Agile Configurator
To uninstall the software, go to windows Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

Double click on P50 Agile Configurator

To uninstall P50 Agile Configurator, click on the Uninstall button.
Follow the instructions and restart the computer if required. If the uninstall is successful, the below
window will appear:

3 ALSTOM P50 AGILE CONFIGURATOR
This section explains how to use the Alstom P50 Agile Configurator, configure P50 Agile devices and
interface with the device.
To start P50 Agile Configurator:
•Double click the desktop icon, or
•Click Start -> Programs -> Alstom Grid ->P50 Agile -> P50 Agile Configurator, or
•Double click P50 Agile Configurator.exe in the application folder.
3.1 Alstom P50 Agile Configurator - Main Screen
The figure below shows the main screen of the Alstom P50 Agile Configurator:

The following functions are provided in the P50 Agile Configurator:
•Connection: Edit connection preference settings to interface with the P50 Series Relay.
•Settings: Edit settings in online/offline mode. Also read and write settings from/to device.
•Event list: View the device’s event list in online mode.
•Disturbance Record viewer: View the device’s disturbance record in online mode.
•History Faults: Read the device’s History Faults with time and date in online and offline mode.
•Parameter View: Read all of device’s analog parameters, and digital status in online mode.
•Status: Read various events/Faults online, with date and time.
3.2 Standard Toolbar Buttons
The following figure shows the toolbar buttons:

3.3 Download Device Template
To download a device template, click on Download Device Template:
Close: Exit the P50 Configurator Tool
About: Display the About screen
Write: Send data to the selected device
Connect: Connect to the selected device
Read: Read data from the selected device
About: Display the About screen
Write: Send data to the selected device
Disconnect:
Disconnect from the selected device
Download Device Templates: Download a
device template from web site or selected
location
Delete: Delete a substation/bay/device
Add: Add a substation/bay/device
Refresh System: Refresh the P50 System

Device templates can be downloaded in two ways:

•Local Folder: To browse previously downloaded device templates select Local Folder and
then browse the directory file for the template.
•Internet: To download a template from the Internet select Internet Protocol, enter the link,
User ID and password and click save.
Then click on the Refresh button to check available device templates. Select a suitable device
template to download, and click on the Download button.
3.4 Adding Substation to P50 System
To add new substation, right-click on P50 System:

Click on New Substation:

Enter a substation name and click OK. A new substation will be added in the P50 System.
3.5 Import Substation
To import a substation, right-click on P50 System:

Next, click on Import Substation:

Select a system archive to import and then click Open.
3.6 Export Substation
To export a substation, right-click on Substation:

Select a destination path and click Ok.
3.7 Adding a Bay to Substation
To add a new bay, right-click on Substation:

Enter a bay name and click OK. A new bay will be added to the P50 System.
3.8 Import Bay
To import a bay, right-click on Substation:

To add a device, right-click on bay and select New Device:

After downloading the device template, click on Add Device. A list of available device templates will
