• Whenyousmellgasorhearahissingsound,turnthecontrol
knobtothe“OFF”positionandreleasethelever.DONOTuse

cannotbesolved.
• Keepareextinguisherhandy.
• Asanadditionalsafetymeasure,wesuggestthatthegas

LEAK TEST
Theleaktestmustbecarriedoutinawell-ventilatedarea,free
fromanyamesorothersourcesofignition.
• Withthecartridgeinstalled
inthestove.Opentheignitor
knob.
• Brushtheconnections(stove
tocartridge)withasolutionof
equalpartssoapandwater
(makesureit’sfoamy).
• Astreamofbubblesforming
indicatesagasleak.(See
Fig.A)
• Ifbubblesappear,turntheigni-
tionknobOFF,‘O’,(clockwise)
andreleasethecartridgelock
levertotheupwardposition
andremoveandisolatethe
gascartridge.
• Re-installthegascartridge,
makingsurethecartridgeslot
ispointingupwardandretry
theleaktest..
• Ifyouareunsureorifyou
cannotinstallthecartridge
withoutaleakoccuringplace
thebutanecartridgeoutsidein
acool,well-ventilatedareaand
contactAlvaon086 100 ALVA
(2582).
• Aleakbetweenthestoveand
canistercanleadtoare,
whichisverydangerousand
canresultinextensiveinjuryor
evendeath.

USING YOUR HEATER
Pleasereadtheinstructionmanualbeforeoperatingtheheater.
Failuretofollowtheprecautionsandinstructionsmayresultin
death,seriousinjuryandpropertyloss.

surface.Makesurethecontrol
knobisatthe“OFF”position
andthelevelknobisatthe

MAINTENANCE

• Yourheatershouldbechecked
onceayearbyaqualied
technician.
• Iffaultsaresuspectedor
detected,stopusingtheheater
andcontactALVA.
• Cleantheexteriorandstor-
ageareaofyourheaterwhen
requiredtoremovedustand
preventlintbuildup.
• DONOTuseabrasiveproducts
tocleantheheater;thesemay
damagethepaintwork.
• Whileinoperationtheame
shouldbesteady.Ifitickers
orisyellowtheheaterneedsto

Ifanypartoftheheaterisinneedofreplacing,useonlyoriginal
Alvaparts.Usinganyothersparepartsisdangerousandwill
voidthewarranty.Whentheheaterisnotgoingtobeusedforan
extendedperiodoftime,keepcoveredorinitsbox,toprevent
dustfromsettlingonthepanels.Whenremovingtheheaterfrom
storage,useavacuumcleanertocleanthepanelsbeforere-use.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why is there an odour when I use a gas heater?
A: Allgasappliancesgiveoffanodour.Thiscouldbe
 harmfulifinhaledforextendedperiodsoftime.This
 “smell”isnormal,anditdoesnotmeanthatyouhave
 agasleak.Thesmellofrawgas(justbeforeyouignite
 theappliance)differstothesmellcomingfromthe
 heaterwhenitisinuse.Theodourisaddedtoallow
 easygasdetection.
Q: Why must there be ventilation when using a gas
heater?
A: Wheneverfuel(Butaneinthiscase)isburned,
 ventilationisneeded.Anyreneedsoxygentoburn.
 Thinkofareplace,yourequireachimneyoruefor
 thesmoketoexitthehouse.Eventhoughagasheater
 doesnotgeneratesmoke,itstillgeneratescarbon
 monoxideandcarbondioxide,whichcanbedangerous
 ifnotdilutedbyfreshair.Alwaysensureadequate
 ventilation.
Q: How long will the gas in my cartridge last?
A: Thisdependsonhowyouuseyourheater.Itiseasyto
 calculateyourgasconsumption.Takethecapacityof
 thegascartridgeingrams(i.e.220g)anddivideitby
 thegasconsumptionoftheheater,onyourdesired
 setting(refer to the Specications section in this
manual (page 12).Theanswertothecalculationisthe
 approximatenumberoftimethatyourheaterwillburn
 for(inhours).
Q: I just took my heater from storage, but there seems
 tobeablueamerollingonthepanels.Ismy
heater faulty?
A: Itisnormalfordusttosettleonthepanel.Whenthis
 happens,theheaterwillnotburnproperlyatrst,giving
 theappearanceofablueamerunningonthepanel.
 Thismighthappenwhenyourstbuytheunitafteryou
 havestoredit.Thereisnothingwrongwiththeheater.

 Simplyburnthedustoffthepanelsbylettingtheheater
 runon‘MAX’forbetween5and15minutes.
 Thepanelsshouldeventuallysettleandglowred.

FLASHBACKS
Intheeventofashbackwhilsttheapplianceisinuse,turnall
thecontrolstothe‘OFF’position.
Wait5minutesbeforeattemptingtorelighttheappliance.Ifthe
problempersists,checkforblockagesandensurethecartridge
hasbeeninstalledcorrectly.Ifproblempersistsdonottrytorec-
tifytheproblemyourselfasthiscouldresultinseriousinjuryand/
orpropertydamage.Removethecartridgefromtheappliance.
Storetheapplianceinacleananddryenvironment.
Donotstoreyourgascartridgeindoors.Storeinawellventilated
areaawayfromdirectsunlightoranelectricalsource.
