Useful Hints for use
• Always remove the food remaining in the oil (e.g. pieces of French fries).
• Use high quality frying oil or frying grease.
• Do not use margarine, olive oil or butter, because they start to smoke at low
temperatures.
• Liquid frying oil is recommended.
• All oils have a “smoke point” at a specific temperature. At the “smoke point,” the
oil begins to break down and can have a foul odor or taste. The following oils
have a high “smoke point” and are safe to use for deep frying: peanut, canola,
corn, grape seed, safflower, sunflower and vegetable. Each kind of oil has a
unique taste and nutrient makeup but all are safe to use for deep-frying.
• In order to reduce the acrylamide content of food containing starch (potatoes,
cereals) the temperature during deep-fat frying should not exceed 340°F for a
longer time. The frying time should be kept as short as possible and the food
only fried until it turns golden yellow.
• Choose the right frying temperature and check the conditions of the food to be
fried. A rule of thumb is that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature than
raw foods.
• Due to their extremely low temperature, frozen foods inevitably lower the
temperature of the oil. For best results, do not overload the basket with frozen
foods.
• Follow the instructions on page 12 for approximate cooking times and
temperatures.
• Frozen foods are frequently covered with a coating of ice crystals, which should
be removed before frying. Lower the basket very slowly into the oil in order to
ensure that oil does not boil over.
• When frying dough-like foods, scrape off the excess dough.
WARNING: Please note this important information if you intend to use fat!
• If you use fat, please divide it up into small pieces. Turn the thermostat to a low
temperature and add the pieces slowly. Once the fat has melted and the correct
oil level is reached you can set the desired temperature on the thermostat.
• Under no circumstances should you place fat in the frying basket.

Note: Use this chart as a guide to deep frying times. Frying times may vary because
of food temperature, quantity and size of pieces. Best results are obtained when
food is cooked in small batches and size of pieces is uniform. When frying larger
amounts, keep in mind that the food must be completely covered with cooking oil/fat
after the frying basket has been lowered.
WARNING!
The deep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3 FULL.
Making home-made French Fries
You will need: Potatoes, salt and freshly ground pepper.
TIP: Use vegetable or peanut oil for best results.
1. Heat oil in the Deep Fryer to 340 °F.
2. Cut the potatoes into uniform French Fry sticks (about 0.2 x 0.2 inch).
3. Dry the potato sticks completely and thoroughly.
4. Add the potato sticks into the basket and fry in small batches. Cook for approx.
3 minutes, remove and drain on layers of paper towels.
5. Increase the oil temperature to 375 °F.
6. Add the potato sticks to the basket and fry in small batches for a second time for
approx. 4 minutes.
7. Once they are golden and crispy, remove the French Fries and drain on fresh
layers of paper towels.
8. Season to taste and serve immediately.

Responsible Disposal
At the end of its working life, do not throw this device out with your household trash.
Electrical and electronic products contain substances that can have a detrimental
effect on the environment and human health if disposed of inappropriately. Observe
any local regulations regarding the disposal of electric products and dispose of it
appropriately for recycling. Contact your local authorities for advice on disposal/
recycling facilities in your area.
Discard old oil
If the oil is clouded or if the oil starts to foam or has a foul odor, taste, or smell,
discard it. DO NOT pour oil down the sink. Oil will cool with water in the drain and
congeal causing backups in your sink, septic system, or public sewer system. Oil
can also be damaging to the environment. Oil can spread very thinly across water
over a very large area changing the chemistry and health of the ecosystem. Thus,
do not dispose the oil near lakes, streams, or watersheds.
The safest way to dispose of oil is by pouring it into a sealable metal container such
as a coffee can, or gallon milk jug. Used cooking oil can also be recycled in some
areas. If there is a recycle drop-off point in your area, check it to see if they will
accept your oil so it could become useful again.
