This present manual refers to the MAXIREACH-BD extension single swing boom. It includes
importantinformaonconcerningtheinstallaon,useandmaintenanceofyourcollector.Read
thismanualthoroughlyandapplythedirecvesandprocedures.Staandpersonnelusingthe
systemwillhavetotrainedonsafetymeasuresandmaintenanceinstrucons.

Pivongextensionpivotswingboomsaredesignedtoextendtheworkingareaoflocalextracon
devices.Theymakeitpossibletoreachareaswhereimpuriesarebeingcreatedwith,forexample,
aself-supporngarm,exiblehoses,hosereelsetc.Duetoawiderangeofreaches,thebooms
areespeciallyusefulfortheextraconofdustorgasimpuriesfromdiculttoreachareas.
Addionallytheboomscanbeusedtosuspendotherequipmentsuchasweldingwirefeeders,
hosereelsetc.withintherangeofpermissibleloads.

TheMAXIREACH-BDswingboomisshippedpartlyassembledbutrequires minimal naleld
assembly.Becauseofcarrierrestricons,swingboomshorizontalsteeltubeslongerthan10'(3
meters)areshippedintwo(2)pieces.Ajoinerwithfastenersisincludedforeldassembly.

TheMAXIREACH-BDswingboomisdesignedtoremovefumes,gasesordustfromtheairresulng
from a fabricaon process. Each MAXIREACH-BD swing boom is built as per the criteria and
informaonsuppliedbythecustomerforaspecicapplicaonandshouldnotserveanyother
applicaonwithouttheapprovalofA.Q.C.Inc.
  
Duringnormaloperaon,theMAXIREACH-BDswingboomispulledorpushedintoposionfor
sourcecapturetovacuumdustorsmokeladenairintotheaachedequipmentsuchasthe
MAXAIRfumearm.Parclesarevacuumedintotheequipmenttowardanexhaustfanandintoa
dustcollectororexhaustedoutside(whenpermied).
The Maxireach swing boom is shipped partly
assembled but requires minimal final field
assembly. Because of carrier restrictions, swing
booms horizontal steel tubes longer than 10’
(3 meters) are shipped in two (2) pieces.
A joiner with fasteners is included for field
assembly.

weightsupportofarmandequipment.Boomsarerequired
whenacomponentistobeusedatadistancefromawall
orcolumn.Theloadingonthestructureorcolumnmustbe
know.

 Thewallorcolumnwheretheswingboomwillbeinstalledshouldbeabletosustainthe
weight of such along with the accessories and / or aached equipment. Such support
structureshouldbelevelfortheswingboomtoremainsteadywhennotinuse.
 Thespanorreachoftheswingboomshouldnotbeencumberedbyoverheadcranes,lighng,
jigsoranyotherequipment.
 Installtheswingboominawaytohaveaccesstothefricondisksoranyotherequipment
that may require scheduled maintenance.
 Iftheswingboomissuppliedwithoponal equipment, refer to the propermanualfor
installaonandguidance.
  

Installaonofswingboomandoponalequipmentwill
requirealiingdevice.Suchliingdevicewillneedtostay
inplaceandholdhorizontalsteeltubeunlallequipmentis
installed.Itisadvisedtouseaworkplaormathorizontal
steeltubeleveltoperformworkaroundtheunit.Liing
devicewillberequiredfornaladjustmentandtolevel
horizontalswingboomappropriately.
  
TheMAXIREACHswingisshippedpartlyassembledorinsecons.Proceedwithavisualinspecon
uponreceivingthematerialandcheckforanyapparentdamagethatmayhaveoccuredonfreight.
Generally,shipmentincludestheboombase,horizontaltubes,spiralductandexiblehose.Other
oponalcomponentssuchasfumearms,hosereelsorhosedropsmaybedeliveredonseparate
skids.

Othertools mayberequired.Itisadvisedtoobtainservicesfromaqualiedcontractorwith
appropriateequipmentforproperinstallaon.

 Preparetheareawheretheswingboomwillbeinstalledmakingsureitisclearandfreeof
anyobstacle.
 Installboombaseatappropriateorspeciedheight.Itissuggestedtouseminimumgrade
5fastenerstosupportboombaseonsupportstructure.Boombasemayalsobeweldedto
supportstructurewhenpermied.Theloadingcanbequitehigh,ensuretheboombaseis
copableofwithstandingtheloud.Itcouldbenecessarytobolttwo1/4mplatesoneither
sideofacimentblockwallorcolumntosecuretheinstallaon.


3. Oncethisboombaseissecuredtosupportstructure,lihorizontalsteeltubetopivotjoint
boombasepivotsupportbracket.Removefricondisksandsteelpinsfromboombasepivot
brackets.
4. Slidehorizontalsteeltubepivotseconsintoboombasepivotbrackets.
 Insert(1)fricondiskoverandundereachpivotsecon.
6. Usingaspike,alignholesoffricondisksreadyforsteelpininseron.
 Removecoerpinfromsteelpin.Insertsteelpinfromthetopoftheboombasepivotsupport
bracketunlcompletelythrough.Securewithcoerpin.
 Usingthehoseclampssupplied,fastenexiblehosefromspiralpipesecontomainexhaust
duct.
  

RefertoMAXAIRinstallaonmanual.ThefollowingMAXIDROPandMAXIREELinstallaon
proceduresshouldincludeahangingcablewithhandleforlateraldisplacementofMAXIREACH
extensionswingboom.A.Q.C.usuallysuppliescableandhandle.Contactfactoryorrepresentave
ifpieceismissing.

 Priortoinstallingthefan,ensuredireconof
ductworkconnectedtofanoutletwillnotcome
indirectcontactwithobstaclessuchasoverhead
cranes,lightxtures,etc.Usageofelbowsorbends
areallowed.
 Connectexhaustductworktofanoutlet.Referto
MAXIDRIVEinstallaonmanual.

Priortostarngthecollectorfortherstme,thechecklistmustbefollowedtoensureaproper
connuousoperaon.
1. Moveextensionboomfromrighttoleandensureitdoesnot"jerk".
2. Ensureextensionboomdoesnot"swing"excessively.
3. Ensureswingboomdoesnothitobstaclessuchaslights,columns,etc.
4. Ensureexhaustductissealedandinstalledproperly.
5. Ensureallexiblehosesareclampedght.
