1 INTRODUCTION
ThispresentmanualreferstotheMAXIREELhosereel.Itincludesimportantinformaonconcerning
theinstallaon,usageandmaintenanceofyourunit.Readthismanualthoroughlyandapplythe
direcvesandprocedures.Staandpersonnelusingthesystemwillhavetotrainedonsafety
measuresandmaintenanceinstrucons.

TheMAXIREELhosereelisdesignedtobeinstallednearthesourceoffumeorCOcreatedby
vehicleswhilerunningandtobeexhaustedoutsideofthefacility.Atailipeadaptororhoodatthe
endoftheexiblehoseisrequiredforpropersourcecaptureofcontaminants.
The exible hose can also reach inside of tanks, ship’s hulls or other conned areas where
convenonalequipmentcannotreachinordertofacilitatetheextraconofpollutedairfrom
workingareas.
Flexiblehosemountedonthereelallowsextraconofgas-airmixturestoamaximum1500°F,
815°C(dependingonthehoseselected).Otherspecialhosesmaybesuppliedasperapplicaon.

Becauseofthewidevarietyofmodelnumbers,itissuggestedtorefertothepromoonalleaet.
TheMAXIREELhosereelisarotangstorageanddispensingdeviceforexhausthosesindiameters
of3"(75mm),4"(100mm),5"(125mm),6"(150mm)and8"(200mm).Theexiblehose and
aachednozzlearerolledontothedrum.
Duringnormaloperaon,theMAXIREELhosereeltailpipeadaptorisedontothevehicleexhaust
pipe. The tailpipe adaptor must be larger in diameter than the vehicle exhaust pipe in order to draw
ambiantairandcooltheexhaustfumetemperature.Thespringrecoilsystemorthemotorized
motorallowtheexiblehosetobestoredontothereeldrumthusreducingtherisksofcrushing
thehosebynotlayingitontheoorwhennotinuse.
Flammable and /or explosive solids
andsolventsmaycreateareorexplosionwithinthehose
reel.Suchmaersshouldnotbevacuumedunlessthehose
reelisdesignedtothateectandequippedwithappropriate
hosespecicaons.Specialcareismandatorywhenthe
hosereelisusedforammableand/orexplosivesolidsand
solvents.Anyobjectonreorbearingarehazardsuch
assparkscreatedbygrinding/bungorsmokingmaterial
should not be allowed to enter the source capture area as it
maycauseareorexplosion.

assemblymayberequiredatjobsite.
1. Theareawherethehosereelwillbeinstalledshouldbeabletosustaintheweightofsuch
alongwiththeaccessories,ducng,fanoranyoponalequipment.
Installershouldensureareaaroundthehosereelwillbefreeofobstaclessuchasbeams,
lighngxtures,overheadcranes,etc.
3. Heightofinstallaonforhosereelbracketshouldnotbehigherthantheactuallengthof
exiblehose.Ifpermied,nozzleandhoseshouldbehangingabout7'(2.2m)abovetheoor
inorderfortheusertograbthenozzleandpullonhose.Ifnotpermied,acableandhandle
shouldbeinstalledonthenozzlesousercangrabhandletopulldownexiblehosewhen
needed.
4. Forsafetymeasures,aminimumtwo(2)mancrewshouldbeappointedfortheinstallaon
ofthehosereel.
Installaonofequipmentmustbeperformedasperlocal
buildinglawsandregulaons.Structuremustmeetproper
weightsupportofarmandequipment.Installaonmust
beperformedbyacompetentandqualiedcontractor.
Structuralgradefastenersmustbeusedforholdingthehose
reelandcomponentstoceiling,trussesorjoyces.

Note:Wallmountedhosereelshouldhavehoseawayfromthewall.
Hose reel is operated by two (2) heavy duty springs. Do not
removehosestopfromexiblehosewheninstalling.Hose
reelspringratchetlockmaydisengageifremovedcausing
injuriesand/orpropertydamages.

Locatetheareawherethehosereelwillbeinstalled.Ensurehosereelairoutletfacesthe
properdireconforconnecontomainexhaustductsystem.
Boltthehosereeltubularstructuretojoycesorwall.
Connectexiblehoseorspiralpipefromhosereelairoutlettomainexhaustductsystem.
Ifhosereelisequipedwithdirectmountedexhaustfan,connectspiralpipetoexhauststack
outsideofthefacility.

1. Pulldownontailpipeadaptortouncoiltheexiblehosefromthehosereeldrum.
2. Ensureyouhearaclickingsoundtellingtheoperatortheratchetlockismovingoverthe
springcasseegears.

3. Tolocktheexiblehoseattherequiredlength,releasepullingonitwhentwoorthree
"clicks"havebeenheard.Thiswillindicatetheratchetlockisreadytobeengaged.
Tocoiltheexiblehosebackontothedrum,pullonthehoseunlno"click"isheard.This
willindicatetheratchetlockisdisengagedandinbetweentwosetsofgearsandthespring
may now coil the hose (wrap) onto the drum..
5. Gentlylithehoseupandguideitontothehosereeldrum.
Note:Keephosefromrecoilingtoofastbyholdingit.Springsareindustrialgradeandcoilinghose
rapidly onto drum may damage it when hose stop hits hose stop bar.
6. Ensuretailpipeadaptorisproperlyaachedtotheexiblehose.
Startexhaustfanandensurevacuumisadequate.
Ifexibleislehangingat"grab"level,ensureitdoesnotbecomeanobstacletopersonnel
or moving vehicles.
9. Ensurelengthofexiblehoseissucienttoreachtailpipeofvehicletobeserviced.
10. Ifhosereelisequippedwithmechanicaldamper,ensureitisinthe"OPEN"posionwhen
hoseisuncoiledfromreel.

Note 2: Bereadytostopthereelifhosedoesnotstopautomacallyaeruncoilingallit’slength
andstartsto"rewrap"backward.
Whenhoseisuncoiledcompletelyandrellstoppedbyitself,pressorturntheUPbuon.
Note 3: Bereadytostopthereelifhosedoesnotstopautomacallyaercoilingallit’slengthand
startsto"rewrap"overthedrum.
3. Flexible hose may also be stopped anywhere while coiling or uncoiling. Press or turn the STOP
buonandensurethereelstopsturning.UPorDOWNaconcanthenbeacvated.Proceed
with steps 6 to 10 on spring reel version.

Toreduceriskofsevereinjuryormatrialdamages,it
isadvisedtohavetwo(2)techniciansworkingonthe
parametersoflimitswitches.One(1)techniciantooperate
the UP/DOWN switches (wall mounted or pendant) and one
(1) to set the limit switches.
Hosereelisfactorysetforasafeandproperuseofhoselengthcontainedonhosedrum.To
readjustormodifythelimitswitches,refertostepbystepprocedurelistedbelow.
1. RemovetubemotorprotecvecapcoveringtheUP/DOWNlimitswitchbuons.
Locaontotheprotecvecapisbetweenthesiderounddisk(gure7)andsidesupportbracket
(gure8).Theuseofalongstematheadscrewdrivercouldbeneeded.
Both buons (yellow for maximum DOWN and white for maximum UP hose posions)
underneaththeprotecvecapshouldbe"poppedup".Thisdeterminesthelimitswitches
weresetandlocked.
Ifthehoseiscompletelyorpartlywrappedaroundthedrum,technicianswillbeginwithsengthe
maximumhoseDOWNseng.

3. TounlockandresettheDOWNlimitswitch,pressontheYELLOWpushbuonsoit"pops"
down,unlockingthelimitswitch.Thetechnicianoperangthependantorwallcontrolswitch
willbeaskedtoturntherotaryswitchtotheDOWNposion.
Whenallof the exible hose hasunwrappedfrom the hose reel drum,(refertoproper
maximumhoseDOWNposionindrawingbelow),thetechnicianoperangtherotaryswitch
willbeaskedtoturntheknobtotheSTOPposion.
5. ThetechnicianoperangthepushbuonlimitswitcheswillthenpresstheYELLOWbuon
soit"pops"uplockingthelimitswitchintoplace.
6. TounlockandresettheUPlimitswitch,pressontheWHITEpushbuonsoit"pops"down,
unlockingthelimitswitch.Thetechnicianoperangthependantorwallcontrolswitchwill
beaskedtoturntherotaryswitchtotheUPposion.
7. Whenallofthehoseorasmaximumlengthofhosethatcanbewrappedaroundthedrum
hasbeencompleted,thetechnicianoperangtherotaryswitchwillbeaskedtoturntheknob
totheSTOPposion.
Toreduceriskofbreakageordetachmentofthehose,
alwayskeeplimitadjustmentinawaysothatthehosehangs
correctlyasshown.Donotoverturnorunderturnexible
hose on hose reel.
ThetechnicianoperangthepushbuonlimitswitcheswillthenpresstheWHITEbuonso
it"pops"uplockingthelimitswitchintoplace.
Beforereplacingthe protecve cap over thelimitswitches,the technicians shouldtest
maximumUPandDOWNofthehose.Systemshouldstopautomacallyasperlimitswitches
sengs.ThetechniciansshouldalsotestthesystembyturningtherotaryswitchtoSTOP
andensuringthesystemstops.UPand/orDOWNautomacoperaonsshouldresumeeven
ifhosewasstoppedbeforemaximumlimitswitchessengs.
10. Ifalloperaonsaresasfactory,replaceprotecvecapoverpushbuonsontubemotor.

FormotorizedreelsequippedwithradiosignalcontrolsONLY.
Noteonwirelesstransmiers:Eachhosereelhashisassignedremotetransmierpre-setatthe
factory.UP/DOWNlimitsarealsopre-setatthefactory.
Hosereelisfactorysetforasafeandproperuseofhoselengthcontainedonhosedrum.Toreadjust
ormodifythelimitswitches,refertostepbystepprocedurelistedbelow.Regularoperaonofthe
wirelessremoteisperformedfromthegroundbutforUP/DOWNsengresults,itisbesttohave
thetransmiernomorethan6"(1,8meter)fromthehosereelandaimedatthehosereel.
Toassignaneworareplacementtransmierwithadenitehosereel:
1. PushtheUPandDOWNbuonsonthetransmiersimultaneouslyandreleasethebuons
aerthehosereelsjogsbrieyupanddownindicangthetransmierisnowlinkedtothe
hose reel tube motor integrated receiver.
2. PresstheSTOP/MYandUPorDOWNbuonssimultaneouslydependingonwhichseng
youneedtodorst.WhentheexiblehosehasreachedthedesiredmaximumUPorDOWN
posion,releasepressingthebuons.Addionalminuteadjustmentsmaybeperformedby
pressingtheDOWNorUPposionthatwasselectedtostartwith.
ProceedwithUPorDOWNothersengsusingthesameprocedureasinstep2menoned
above.
4. Presstheprogrammingbuononthebackofthetransmiertoconrmandlocksengs.
Tomodifyorre-adjusttheUP/DOWNlimitswitches:
PresstheSTOP/MYbuononly.Hosereelwilljogbrieyindicangitisreadyforprogramming.

asaferaisedplaormifhosereelisinstalledatceilingheight.
Safety note:PropergearsuchasharnessesandhardhatsshouldbebewornasperOSHAsafety
standardsiftechniciansneedtoworkinanelevatedarea.
1. PresstheDOWNbuontounwrapthehosecompletelyfromthedrum.
Remove hose reel drum cover.
Removehoseclampfromreelexhaustinletinsidehosereeldrum.
4. Loosen the U clamp holding the exible hose onto the reel drum.
5. Lowerthehosegentlytotheoor.DONOTDROPTHEHOSE.
Ifhoseisequippedwithhosestop,removeandsetaside.Itwillbeneededwhenreplacement
ofhosecomplete.
Insertabout24"to30"ofthenewexiblehosethroughtheUboltonhosereeldrum.
8. Slip hose onto the reel exhaust inlet inside hose reel drum.
9. Tightenhoseclampontothenewhose.Ensureclampisrmlyaachedtothehosereelinlet
collar. Metal screws may be used below the hose clamp to secure the hose in place on collar.
10. Pullonhosetowardtheexteriorofthereeltoformalong90degreesbend.DO NOT KINK
11. TightentheU bolt ontothenew exible hose.
12. Install drum cover on to the hose reel drum.
13. Removetailpipeadaptorfromdamagedhoseandinstallonnewhose
14. Checkupanddownmovementofhosereelforproperoperaon.
15. IfhosereelisequippedwithhosestopforautomacfanSTART/STOP,installhosestopon
exiblemakingsurethehosestopblocksthesignaltothereectorwhenhoseiswrapped
around the drum.

switches,etc,AQCwillsupplyappropriatedrawingsasperselecon.Ifreelsareequippedwith
sidemountedcontrolpanels,electricaldiagramarepastedinthecoverofthepanel.

workmanshipforaperiodof12monthsfromthedateofitsinstallaonor14monthsfromthe
dateofshipmentbySeller,whicheverdateisearlier(the"WarrantyPeriod").
17.2 Excepons: ThiswarrantydoesnotapplytoanyProductorporonthereofthat:(i)hasbeenused
inamannernotincompliancewithSeller’sormanufacturer’sdocumentaonandinstrucons,(ii)
hashadchanges,alteraonsorrepairsmadebyapersonotherthanapersonauthorizedbySeller,
(iii) has been improperly installed or used or has been installed or used contrary to applicable
codes,standards,lawsandregulaons,(iv)hasbeensubjectedtoimproperstorage,accident,
neglect,misuseorabuse,(v)hasbeendamagedduringshipping,(vi)hasbeensubjecttodamages
resulngfromnormalwearandtear,(vii)hasnotbeenusedwithappropriatereprotecon
systemsorexplosionvenngwhenrequiredor(viii)hasnotbeeninstalledbyalicensedcontractor
withexperienceinreandexplosionhazardsandapplicablecodes,lawsandregulaons.For
greatercertainty,thiswarrantydoesnotapplytolterssoldaspartof,orforusewith,theProduct.
UnlessspecicallyacceptedotherwiseinwringbySeller,Sellerdoesnotwarrantthatelectrical
equipmentwillcomplywithanylawsorregulaonsofthecustomer’sjurisdicon.
17.3 Claims: Tobenetfromthiswarranty,customermustnofySellerinwringoftheProductdefect,
whichnoceshallincludeareasonabledescriponofthedefect,within10daysfromthedatesuch
defectisdiscoveredoroughttohavebeendiscovered.
17.4 Remedy: DuringtheWarrantyPeriodandsubjecttothetermsherein,Sellerwill,atitsopon,
either:(i)repairorreplacetheProductoranydefecvepartsorcomponents(exceptforlters)
withProduct,partsorcomponents(exceptlters)freefromdefector(ii)creditorrefundthe
purchasepriceoftheProduct.IfSellersorequests,customermustreturnthedefecveProductto
Seller’splaceofbusinessdeterminedbySeller.Shipping,installaon,removalandre-installaon
costs will be solely borne by the customer.

oruseoftheProductmayresultinreorexplosion.Tominimizesuchrisks,properinstallaon,
operaon,andmaintenanceoftheProductinaccordancewithallapplicablecodes,standards,laws
andregulaonsiscrical.Priortoinstallaonanduse,customershallensurethattheProductmeets
theapplicablecodes,lawsandregulaons,includingthoserelatedtotheaddionofappropriate
reproteconsystemsorexplosionvenng.Installaonshallbeperformedbyalicensedcontractor
withexperienceinreandexplosionandapplicablecodes,lawsandregulaons.
19.1 ThetermshereinconstutetheonlywarrantygivenbySellerwithrespecttotheProduct.No
othertermsandcondions,whetherincludedonapurchaseorderorinanyotherdocument,shall
applyorbindtheSellerwithrespecttotheProductwarrantyandallsuchtermsandcondionsand
documents are expressly disclaimed.
20.1 ThesewarrantytermswillbegovernedbyandconstruedunderthelawsinforceintheProvince
ofOntario,Canada,excludingitsconictoflawrules.
