TO OPERATE FACE SHIELD
To open the shield, push up the shield
lock release lever to release the lock sys-
tem.
To close the shield, push down the shield
until it is locked in place.
Shield Lock Release Lever
A D-ring release tab is provided to make
loosening of the strap easier, simply pull
as illustrated.
Then raise the shield. The shield can
only be opened when the lock system has
been so released.
TO OPERATE TOP VENTILATION DUCTS
Push the switch on each duct to open/close the ducts as illustrated.

TO FASTEN CHINSTRAP
For proper fastening the chinstrap must be
routed through the D-rings as illustrated,
and pulled through them securely for a
snug t.
Open
Then tighten the posts from behind with
a Phillips head screwdriver while holding
the posts rmly in place with your, or an
assistant’s fingers. The posts are loose
when shipped, so be sure to tighten them
before use even if the Tear-O󰀨s t without
adjustment.
To remove the shield, remove
screws, washers and guides
from the helmet. To replace,
position the shield in place
and install guides, washers
and screws as illustrated.
Arai Tear-O󰀨 posts are eccentrically mounted so as to be adjustable to better ac-
cept looser or tighter Tear-O󰀨s. Adjust both posts by rotating them so that the
Tear-O󰀨 is taut across the shield but not too tight so as to rip or distort the Tear-
O󰀨.
Tear-O󰀨 posts are standard equipment. To
install the Tear-Off, some Tear-Offs come
with protective film on one or both sides.
Be sure to remove any films that may be
present. Slip the hole of the shorter end
over the right shield post. Lay the Tear-O󰀨
across the shield and slip the other hole
over the left shield post.
