SAFETY INFORMATION
This device has been manufactured and tested with
your safety in mind. However, improper use can result
in potenal electric shock, property damage or re
hazards. To avoid defeang the safeguards that have been
built into your device, please observe the precauons
discussed in this document.
To ensure correct operaon, use this device only with the
ARRIS-approved power supply unit provided. If you use an
unapproved alternave, you will invalidate the warranty.
Other warnings
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the
cover of your device. There are no user-serviceable parts
inside it.
Do not perform any servicing unless you are qualied to
do so. Refer all servicing to qualied service personnel.
Servicing the device yourself will invalidate the warranty.
To reduce the risk of re or electric shock, do not expose
this device to rain or moisture.
Laser Safety
To avoid exposure to radiaon, do not stare into the aperture
of a ber-opc port. Invisible radiaon might be emied from
the aperture of the port when no ber cable is connected.
Do not bend the opc ber cables severely, which may
damage the ber or prevent the signal from being
transmied properly.
Always keep unused ber-opc ports capped with a clean
dust cap.

Important Safety Instrucons
Before you install or use the apparatus, you must read and
understand these Important Safety Instrucons.
At all mes when using the apparatus you must follow these
Important Safety Instrucons to reduce the risk of re,
electrical shock and injury to persons.

6. Clean only with dry cloth.
7. Do not block any venlaon openings. Install in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instrucons.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators,
heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including
ampliers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or
grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades
with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug
has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide
blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If
the provided plug does not t into the outlet, consult an
electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on
or pinched parcularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the
apparatus.
11. Only use aachments/accessories specied by the
manufacturer.
12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or
table specied by the manufacturer, or sold with the
apparatus. When a cart is used, use cauon when
moving the cart/apparatus combinaon to avoid injury
from p-over.
13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or
when unused for long periods of me.
14. Refer all servicing to qualied service personnel.
Servicing is required when the apparatus has been
damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or
plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects
have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has
been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate
normally, or has been dropped.
The lightning ash with arrowhead symbol,
within a triangle, is intended to alert you to
the presence of uninsulated “dangerous”
voltages within your device’s enclosure that
may be of sucient magnitude to constute
a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamaon point within a triangle
is intended to alert you to the presence
of important instrucons in the literature
accompanying your device.

In addion to the Important Safety Instrucons, please
read the Safety Informaon below.
Power sources
The model number, serial number, and electrical rang of
this device are shown on the device’s product label.
You must operate your device only from the type of power
source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of
the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer
or local power company. If you move your device between
locaons at dierent temperatures, allow it to reach room
temperature before you apply power to it.
Overloading
Do not overload wall AC outlets, extension cords or other
power outlets as this can result in a risk of re or electric
shock.
To avoid possible damage to your device or to a connected
TV or component, all AC power cords must be plugged
into properly wired outlets. As with all electrical products,
connecon to faulty or defecve components, or the failure
to connect your device to a properly wired outlet, may cause
sparking, property damage or damage to any TV or other
component connected to your device and pose a re hazard.
Lightning
For added protecon for your device during a lightning
storm, or when it is le unaended and unused for long
periods of me, disconnect your device from the power
supply and disconnect the cable system from your device.

Ambient temperature
The operang temperature range of your device is 32-
104°F. If the ambient temperature around your device
falls outside this range, you must correct this in order for
your device to work correctly and safely. For example, if
the temperature is too high, make sure there is sucient
venlaon (see below) and that your device is not directly
on top of or underneath other equipment.
Venlaon
Slots and openings in the casing of your device are
provided for venlaon, to ensure reliable operaon of
your device and to protect it from overheang.
• Never block the venlaon openings by placing your
device on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.
Place it on a hard, at surface.
• Never cover the venlaon openings with items such as
newspapers, table-cloths, or curtains.
• You can place your device near other consumer electronics
devices, such as stereo ampliers or televisions, but you
must not place it directly on top or underneath them.
• Do not place your device in a built-in installaon such
as a bookcase or rack unless proper venlaon is
provided and you have adhered to the manufacturer’s
instrucons.
• Maintain a minimum distance of three inches around
your device for sucient venlaon.

Water and moisture
Do not expose your device to rain or moisture, dripping or
splashing, and ensure that no objects lled with liquids,
such as vases, are placed on your device. See also item 5
in the Important Safety Instrucons.
Entry of objects and liquids
Never push objects of any kind into your device through
openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or
short-out parts that could result in re or electric shock.
Never spill liquid of any kind on your device.
Transporng
Move the combinaon of device and cart with care. Quick
stops, excessive force and uneven surfaces may cause the
combinaon of device and cart to overturn. See also item
12 in the Important Safety Instrucons.
Placement and mounng
Do not place your device on an unstable or uneven
surface. Your device may fall, causing serious injury to a
child or adult and serious damage to your device. If you
mount your device, for example to a wall or ceiling, follow
the manufacturer’s instrucons and use a mounng
accessory recommended by the manufacturer. See also
item 12 in the Important Safety Instrucons.
Risk of re or scorching
Never place naked ame sources, such as lighted candles,
on or adjacent to your device.
Replacement parts
When replacement parts are required, be sure that the
service technician has used replacement parts specied
by the manufacturer or that have the same characteriscs
as the original part. Unauthorized substuons may result
in re, electric shock or other hazards. See also item 14 in
the Important Safety Instrucons.
Safety check
Upon compleon of any servicing or repairs to your
device, ask the service technician to perform safety
checks to determine that your device is in its proper
operang condion. See also item 14 in the Important
Safety Instrucons.

Safety aspects of connecons
Full details of the rear panel are on page 8.
Connecng
Do not connect your device (to the power supply unl you have
properly connected all the other cables.
Your device is designed for use only with the power supply unit
provided.
On the power supply unit there is a label that species the
correct AC power supply input for it. Do not connect the power
supply unit to any supply other than this.
Always connect the 12 volt DC cord from the power supply unit
to your device before you insert the AC power cord from the
power supply unit into the wall AC outlet.
Disconnecng
To disconnect power from your device, always detach the power
supply unit from the wall AC outlet (rather than remove the 12 volt
cord from your device). Therefore you must install your device near
to the wall AC outlet, which should be easily accessible.
If you are in any doubt about the power supply cord, its plug or
its connecon, or are not certain that the electrical outlets you
are using are properly wired and grounded, consult a qualied
electrician before proceeding any further.

WARNING: While this equipment is in operaon, a separaon distance of
at least 20 cenmetres (equal to 8 inches) must be maintained between the

WIFI
Users should be advised that high-power radars are allocated as primary
users (i.e. priority users) of the bands 5250-5350 MHz and 5470-5725
MHz and that these radars could cause interference and/or damage to the
LE-LAN device.
The device for operaon in the band 5150-5250 MHz is only for indoor
use to reduce the potenal for harmful interference to co-channel mobile
satellite systems.

supply unit
To ensure correct operaon, use this device only with the ARRIS-
approved power supply unit provided. If you use an unapproved
alternave, you will invalidate the warranty.
Regulatory Informaon

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The X5001 gateway/MTA has a 10G EPON ONT and oers DPoE for OLT integraon
and PON management with next generaon integrated service ports.
The high-power 3x3 MIMO and Wi-Fi soluon provides complete home connecvity
and coverage at high speeds. The unit features concurrent dual-band 2.4 GHz
(802.11n) and 5 GHz (802.11ac) transmission.
The X5001 uses MoCA 2.0 technology for throughput in excess of 800 Mbps (using
channel bonding) to interconnect STB clients, Wi-Fi extenders, and other MoCA
devices.

Typical applicaon
You can integrate the X5001 gateway into your XFINITY home system. With this
applicaon, the gateway uses a:
• 5 GHz wireless connecon to communicate with an X1 wireless client connected to
a digital video recorder (DVR).
• 2.4 GHz wireless connecon to communicate with a mobile device, such as a
mobile phone, tablet, or laptop.
• Wired coaxial connecon to communicate with an X1 DVR or a mul-tuner video
gateway.
What’s in the box
Unpack the items and conrm that no items are missing or damaged. Your package
should include:
• X5001 gateway
• Power cord
• One set of user documents
If any items are missing or damaged, please contact your place of purchase. Keep the
carton, including the original packing material, in case you need to store the product
or return it.
What else you need
To complete your installaon, you will need the following items:
• SC/UPC ber-opc cable
• Provisioned Internet access via an opcal network interface.
System Requirements
The gateway operates with most computers. The following describes requirements for
each operang system; see the documentaon for your system for details on enabling
and conguring networking.
To use the gateway, you need DPoE Fiber high-speed Internet service from your service
provider. Telephone service requires that the service provider has PacketCable support.

Recommended Hardware
The following hardware conguraon is recommended. Computers not meeng this
conguraon can sll work with the X5001, but may not be able to make maximum
use of X5001 throughput.
• CPU: P4, 3GHz or faster.
• RAM: 1GB or greater.
• Harddrive: 7200 RPM or faster.
• Ethernet: Gig-E (1000BaseT).
Windows
Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10. A supported Ethernet or
wireless LAN connecon must be available.
macOS
System 7.5 to Mac OS 9.2 (Open Transport recommended) or Mac OS X. A supported
Ethernet or wireless LAN connecon must be available.
Linux/Unix
Hardware drivers, TCP/IP, and DHCP must be enabled in the kernel. A supported
Ethernet or wireless LAN connecon must be available.
Acquiring high-speed Internet service
The gateway requires a high-speed Internet access account. If you already have
an account, give your service provider the serial number and MAC address of the
gateway to use the high-speed Internet feature that this device oers. You can nd
this informaon on the label on the side of the gateway.
If you do not have a high-speed Internet access account, your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) will set up your account. Internet access allows you to send and receive
e-mail, access the World Wide Web, and use other Internet services. To set up an
Internet account, give your service provider the following informaon, which you can
nd on the label axed to the gateway:
• The gateway’s 12-digit serial number.
• The gateway’s 12-character Media Access Control (MAC) address.

What About Security?
Having a high-speed, always-on connecon to the Internet requires a certain
amount of responsibility to other Internet users — including the need to maintain a
reasonably secure system. While no system is 100% secure, you can use the following
ps to enhance your system’s security:
• Keep the operang system of your computer updated with the latest security
patches. Run the system update ulity at least weekly.
• Keep your email program updated with the latest security patches. In addion,
avoid opening email containing aachments, or opening les sent through chat
rooms, whenever possible.
• Install a virus checker and keep it updated.
• Avoid providing web or le-sharing services over your gateway. Besides certain
vulnerability problems, most cable companies prohibit running servers on consumer-
level accounts and may suspend your account for violang your terms of service.
• Use the service provider’s mail servers for sending email.
• Avoid using proxy soware unless you are certain that it is not open for abuse
by other Internet users (some are shipped open by default). Criminals can
take advantage of open proxies to hide their identy when breaking into other
computers or sending spam. If you have an open proxy, your service provider may
suspend your account to protect the rest of the network.
• The X5001 ships with wireless LAN security set by default (for the same reasons
that you should run only secured proxies).
Ethernet or wireless?
There are two ways to connect your computer (or other equipment) to the gateway.
The following will help you decide which is best for you:
Ethernet
Ethernet is a standard method of connecng two or more computers into a Local Area
Network (LAN). You can use the Ethernet connecon if your computer has built-in
Ethernet hardware.
Note: To connect more than four computers to the X5001 through the Ethernet ports,
you need an Ethernet hub (available at computer retailers).
The gateway package comes with one 4-foot (1.2m) Ethernet cable (the connectors
look like wide telephone connectors); you can purchase more cables if necessary at a
computer retailer. If you are connecng the gateway directly to a computer, or to an
Ethernet hub with a cross-over switch, ask for Category 5e (CAT5e) straight-through
cable. CAT5e cable is required for gigabit Ethernet (Gig-E), not regular CAT5 cable.
Wireless
Wireless access lets you connect addional (wireless-capable) devices to gateway.
The 802.11 wireless LAN standard allows one or more computers to access the X5001
using a wireless (radio) signal. These connecons are in addion to the connecons
supported via Ethernet.
Note: You can use the wireless connecon if your computer has a built-in or
aermarket plug-in wireless adapter. To learn more about which wireless hardware
works best with your computer, see your computer dealer.
Both
If you have two or more computers, you can use Ethernet for up to four devices and
wireless for the others. To connect ve or more computers to the Ethernet ports, you
will need an Ethernet hub (available at computer retailers.)

INSTALLING THE GATEWAY
Before you start, make sure that:
• You have contacted your service provider and veried that they provide data and
telephone service using standard DPoE Fibre technology.
• You have all the items you need (page 7).
• Opcal, MoCA, phone, and power outlets are available near the computer. If an
opcal outlet is not conveniently located, your service provider can install a new
one.
• If you have ordered service, your service provider should congure the gateway
automacally. You need only follow the instrucons in this secon to install and
connect the gateway.
• You have familiarized yourself with the gateway’s front-panel LEDs (page 11) and
the rear-panel connectors (page 12).
Ypur have chosen a suitable locaon for your gateway (page 13).
CAUTION: Risk of equipment damage
Only qualied installaon technicians should connect the gateway to house wiring.
Incumbent telephone service must be physically disconnected at the outside interface
box before making any connecons.

Finding a suitable locaon
You can install the gateway in any locaon with access to the cable network. All of the cables connect to the rear panel
of the gateway for beer organizaon and ulity. The LED indicators on the front panel are easily visible to provide you
with informaon about network acvity and status.
For opmum performance, the locaon you choose should:
• Be close to a working AC power outlet.
• Allow the gateway to be mounted vercally for opmized wireless performance.
• Allow sucient air ow around the gateway to keep the device as cool as possible.
• Not expose the gateway to a dusty or wet environment.
Wireless placement consideraons
If you will be operang the gateway on a wireless network, note that the range of your wireless connecon can vary
signicantly based on the physical placement of the gateway. The latency, data throughput performance, and power

• In an elevated locaon such as a high shelf, keeping the number of walls and ceilings between the gateway and your
other devices to a minimum.
• Away from electrical devices that are potenal sources of interference, such as ceiling fans, home security systems,
microwaves, or the base for a cordless phone.
• Away from any large metal surfaces, such as a solid metal door or aluminum studs. Large expanses of other
materials such as glass, insulated walls, sh tanks, mirrors, brick, and concrete can also aect your wireless signal.

Posion the gateway so that:
• it stands vercally on its base (Do not lay it at on its side.)
• air ows freely around it
• the back faces the nearest wall
• it will not fall to the oor if bumped or moved
• the venlaon holes on the sides of the unit are not blocked

Connecng to the LAN
Using an Ethernet LAN cable, you can connect the gateway to a desktop computer,
notebook, hub, or switch. The gateway supports auto-MDI/MDIX, so you can use either
a standard straight-through or crossover Ethernet cable.
1. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to one of the four LAN ports on the rear panel
of the gateway.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to your computer’s network-interface card (NIC)
or to another network device.
Connecng the WAN
To connect the gateway to a Wide Area Network (WAN) interface:
• Connect the SC/APC connector of a single-mode bre opc cable to the opcal
terminal in the your home or oce (it could also be a splier or a PIM card of an
OLT), and connect the other end of the cable to the port labeled PON on the rear
panel of the gateway (see page 12). Use only manufactured bre opcal cables with
SC/APC connectors at both ends for all connecons.
Gateway connecons
Before proceeding, be sure all devices are aached to the gateway. The following gure
summarizes the connecons that can be made to the gateway.

Powering on the gateway
Before powering on the gateway, familiarize yourself with the safety aspects of the
connecons (see page 5).
1. Connect the cord from the supplied power supply unit to the port labeled POWER
on the rear panel of the gateway (see page 8).
WARNING: Use only the power supply unit supplied with the gateway. Using a
dierent power supply unit can damage the gateway and void the warranty.
2. Connect the other end of the power supply unit’s cord to a working power
outlet. The outlet should not be controlled by a wall switch to avoid someone
unknowingly turning o power to the outlet. The gateway powers on
automacally. The Power LED on the front panel goes ON and the other front
panel LEDs show the gateway’s status (see page 7).
Reboong or reseng the gateway
If required, you can use the RESET buon on the gateway rear panel to reboot (power
cycle) the gateway, or reset the gateway to its original factory default sengs.
Reboong the gateway
To reboot the gateway and keep any customized overrides you made to the default
sengs:
1. Leave power cord connected to the gateway.
2. Press the RESET buon on the gateway rear panel.
3. Wait for the gateway to reboot.
Restoring factory defaults
When you restore the gateway to its factory default sengs, you will remove all
overrides you made to the conguraon, including changes to the default login user
name, password, and IP address.
To restore factory default sengs using the RESET buon:
1. Leave power plugged into the gateway.
2. Press and hold the RESET buon on the gateway rear panel unl the POWER LED
starts to ash (this may take up to 15 seconds), then release the RESET buon.
3. Wait for the gateway to reboot with factory default sengs.
Conguring your wireless connecon
The gateway ships with wireless LAN security set by default. See the product label on
your gateway for the factory security sengs.
Note: You must set up your computer and other client devices to work with the
security sengs on the gateway. Refer to the documentaon for your client device for
instrucons on seng security. On most computer systems you only need to select
the network name (SSID) device and enter the encrypon key. If your computer or
client device supports Wi-Fi Alliance WPS (Wireless Protected Setup), acvate WPS on
your computer or client device and the gateway simultaneously to easily set up your
system security.
If you need to modify the gateway’s default wireless security sengs, or if you want
to congure any other wireless LAN sengs, refer to the following instrucons.

WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) wireless setup
WPS is a quick way to set up the gateway’s wireless network automacally and set
up your wireless computer to connect to it at the same me. WPS, also called Wi-Fi
Protected Setup, is relavely new technology, so before you decide to use it, check
to make sure your wireless computers and devices support WPS. Look for the symbol
(shown right) on all the computers that will connect wirelessly to the gateway.
If you do not see this symbol on all the computers that will connect to the wireless
network, manually set up your network rst. Aer that, you can sll use WPS to set
up the wireless connecon for the computers that support WPS.
Note: All WPS-capable products should be compable with the gateway. For more
informaon about the WPS standard, see hp://www.wi-.org.
Using the WPS buon
The WPS buon, located at the boom of the gateway’s front panel. The gateway
supports WPS, a quick and easy way to set up a secure Wi-Fi network. However, your
laptops, tablets, and mobile devices must be WPS-compable to do so.
If you are not sure whether your devices support WPS, check them for the WPS label
(shown above).
If you cannot nd it, the device most likely does not support WPS and you will have to
use the manual setup method. If your device does support WPS:
1. Press the WPS buon on your device (refer to the device’s manual).
2. Within two minutes, press the WPS buon on the front of the gateway:
A message appears when the connecon succeeds. If it fails, wait a few minutes, and
then connect another device using WPS.

Accessing the conguraon interface
Follow these steps to access the conguraon interface. You should have already set
up the gateway as described in Installing your gateway (page 10).
1. If security has been properly set up on your computer to access the wireless LAN
on the gateway, use the connecon ulity for your operang system to connect to
the wireless LAN using its network name (SSID), as shown on the security label.
2. If you cannot access the wireless LAN, you must rst establish a wired Ethernet
connecon between your computer and the gateway.
3. In your web browser, open the page hp://10.0.0.1/ to access the wireless router
setup.
4. On the Login screen, enter the user name and password and click the Apply buon
to log in.
Note: The default user name is “admin”. The default password is “password”, in lower
case leers.
5. On the System Basic Setup screen, use the online help informaon to set
conguraon parameters as required.
Note: Most conguraon parameters that you may want to set can be accessed on
the System Basic Setup screen, including the security mode and seng a system
password.

Conguring your Ethernet connecon
If your computer is equipped with a LAN card providing an Ethernet connecon, you
may have to congure your computer’s TCP/IP sengs. The steps that follow will
guide you through seng your computer’s TCP/IP sengs to work with the gateway.
Requirements
Make sure you have the following before aempng to congure your Ethernet
connecon:
• Computer with Ethernet interface.
• Ethernet cable (supplied).
• IP address, subnet, gateway, and DNS informaon for installaons not using DHCP.
The following list shows the procedures for modifying the TCP/IP sengs on the
computer. The procedure is slightly dierent depending on the operang system that
you are using. Please ensure you are using the correct steps for the operang system
on your computer. Follow the links below for instrucons to congure your Ethernet
connecon on your operang system.

TCP/IP conguraon for Windows Vista
Follow these steps to congure the Ethernet interface on a Windows Vista operang
system.
1. Open the Vista Control Panel.
2. Double-click Network and Sharing Center to display the Network and Sharing
Center Window.
3. Click Manage network connecons. If prompted for a connecon, choose Local
Area Connecon.
The Network Connecons window displays.
4. Double-click the Local Area Connecon to open the Properes window:
Note: If Windows requests permission to connue, click Connue.
5. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) to congure TCP/IPv4.
Note: If your cable provider requires TCP/IP version 6, double-click Internet
Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) to congure TCP/IPv6.
The TCP/IP properes window for the version you selected displays.
6. For either TCP/IPv4 or TCP/IPv6, select Obtain an IP address automacally and
Obtain DNS server address automacally, unless instructed otherwise by your
cable provider.
7. Click OK to accept the new sengs and close the Properes window.

Follow these steps to congure the Ethernet interface on a Windows 7, Windows 8, or
Windows 10 operang system.
1. Click the Start menu and type network and sharing into the Search box.
2. Select Network and Sharing Center when it appears.
3. Click Change adapter sengs from the le-side menu.
4. Right-click on your local area connecon icon and select Properes to open the
Properes window.
5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properes to congure TCP/
IPv4.
Note: If your cable provider requires TCP/IP version 6, select Internet Protocol
Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click Properes to congure TCP/IPv6.
The TCP/IP properes window for the version you selected displays.
6. For either TCP/IPv4 or TCP/IPv6, select Obtain an IP address automacally and
Obtain DNS server address automacally, unless instructed otherwise by your
cable provider.
7. Click OK to accept the new sengs and close the Properes window. Then click
Close to back out of the remaining setup screens.
TCP/IP conguraon for macOS
Follow these steps to congure the Ethernet interface on a macOS operang system.
1. Open System Preferences, either by choosing System Preferences from the Apple
menu or by clicking the System Preferences icon in the dock.
2. Click the Network icon.
3. Choose Automac from the Locaon drop-down menu, and Built-in Ethernet from
the Show menu.
4. Choose the TCP/IP tab, if necessary.
If you are using TCP/IPv4, go to step 5.
f your cable provider requires TCP/IPv6, go to step 8.
5. Choose Using DHCP from the Congure IPv4 menu.
6. If necessary, click the Renew DHCP Lease buon.
7. Close the System Properes applicaon.
TCP/IPv4 conguraon is completed.
8. If you are using TCP/IPv6, click Congure IPv6 near the boom of the previous
window.
9. Choose Automacally from the Congure IPv6 drop-down menu and click OK.
10. Close the System Properes applicaon.

If the gateway does not seem to be working properly, rst make sure that all the
cables are securely connected, then carry out the following checks, in the order
shown.
The gateway is plugged in, but the Power light is o.
• Power may not be reaching your gateway. Make sure that the power supply unit is
properly plugged in.
• If there is a switch by the wall AC outlet, switch it ON.
• Check that the wall AC outlet is working (for example by plugging in a lamp).
• Finally, check the fuse or circuit breaker panel.
I’m not geng on the Internet (all connecons)
• It may take over 30 minutes to establish a connecon the rst me power up your
gateway, especially when many people are online. Always leave your gateway
plugged in to the AC power and connected to the bre-opc interface.
• Check the Power and PON lights on the gateway’s front-panel are on.
• Check your cable connecons. The connecons should be ght. The bre-opc
cable should not be pinched, kinked, or bent sharply.
• Check the network sengs on your computer/tablet/mobile.
I’m not geng on the Internet (Ethernet)
• If you are using a hub, is the hub turned on?
• Are you using the right kind of Ethernet cable? Use a straight-through cable for
direct connecon to your computer; use a cross-over cable for connecon to a hub
without a cross-over switch.
• Try reboong the gateway (see page 11).
• A misconguraon could lock out all access to the gateway. If you think this has
happened, try reseng the gateway to factory defaults (see page 11).
I’m not geng on the Internet (wireless)
• Check the front-panel lights. The 2.4GHz or 5GHz light should be on.
• Is your gateway set up for wireless operaon? See page 13.
• Try reboong the gateway (see page 11).
• A misconguraon could lock out all access to the gateway. If you think this has
happened, try reseng the gateway to factory defaults (see page 11).
My wireless Internet connecon stops working somemes
• This is usually caused by interference - two common causes are 2.4GHz “remote”
telephones and microwave ovens.
I can get on the Internet, but everything is slow.
• If the Web site you are vising is very popular, that site may be having trouble
servicing all the requests. If other Web sites download quickly, wait for a few
minutes and try again. Usage during peak hours may also aect the connecon
speed.
• Other communicaon on the LAN, or interference with wireless connecons, may
also slow down your connecon.
